Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Chapter 67: Chapter 67 The Clue to the Treasure

”[Pointer] Spell.”

Next to him, Lucilia pointed at the Spell on the Compass and said, ”The Spell on this object was so openly engraved on its surface.”

Seeing Lucilia recognize another unknown Spell, Alka couldn’t help but glance at her.

”You’re truly knowledgeable.”

Hearing Alka’s compliment, Lucilia gave a sweet smile. ”Thank you. My friends all call me ’the Scholar’.”

”Does this Spell have any function?”

”[Pointer] is usually engraved on various items. It can permanently point to a place, an item, or a person.” fr eewe(b)nove.l.co\m

That’s why it’s called a ”Locking Compass.”

Magic Power flowed from his arm into the Compass. The Compass’s material seemed to be some kind of magic-friendly substance, easily infused with Magic Power.

The patterns and the Spell on top faintly lit up.

A pointer materialized, hovering in mid-air, its tip pointing in one direction. No matter how Alka moved the Compass, the pointer always indicated the same direction.

”It looks like the [Pointer] has already been locked,” Lucilia observed. .com

When the flow of Magic Power was cut, the pointer disappeared.

It’s still unknown where this thing is pointing.

After setting the Compass aside, he turned his attention to the book.

The heavy book was like a brick. Its cover bore no writing, and it too was inscribed with [Isolation].

It seemed to be a precious book.

Alka opened it. He couldn’t understand the text inside at all; he had never seen it before. It wasn’t the Wensa language he currently used.

”White Crocodile Script?” Lucilia exclaimed.

”You recognize it?” Alka turned his head to look at her.

Lucilia nodded, her voice tinged with surprise. ”Even in the era I lived in, this script was considered ancient. The White Crocodile Script is said to hold hidden powers; information written in this script would be protected.”

I don’t understand, not at all.

”Then can you read what’s written here?” Alka couldn’t help but ask.

Lucilia nodded, equally intrigued. A book written in White Crocodile Script must surely contain precious secret knowledge.

She began to read:

””Land of Dreams, unsigned, to those who wish to visit the legendary land.

”...

”At the cost of never returning, I came here. The ’Mystery Sea Shell’ seems to love it here.

”’Mystery Sea Shell’ is a Ghost Ship and also my most important friend.””

”What is a Ghost Ship?” Alka couldn’t help but ask curiously from beside her.

”A Spell Ship used for years might develop its own consciousness after enduring the trials of the sea. That’s what a Ghost Ship is.”

Hearing Lucilia’s explanation, Alka nodded, signaling her to continue.

””Upon arriving here, we encountered unimaginable sea conditions. The seawater was like a tornado, yet it roamed the sea and sky like a water serpent.

”Countless ’sea serpents’ swam freely. Once touched by them, survival is left to fate.

”Luckily, the ’Milo’ could dive underwater. Otherwise, it would have been too tragic if it had sunk after such a costly journey to this place.””

Is this really not some fantasy novel?

Alka suppressed the urge to speak and continued to listen.

””...Haruki died. He wasn’t a powerful ’Toucher.’ Just during normal sailing, he visibly declined until death.

”This place is infused with some strange power; ordinary life cannot survive without adequate strength.””

After reading a few pages, Lucilia fell silent.

”...This is a travelogue, describing a bizarre sea—or perhaps an entire world—from the author’s perspective.”

Alka, who had been listening all along, nodded. He indeed found it bizarre.

”Let’s look at the other items first,” Alka said, then picked up the logbook.

...

Why is it in incomprehensible text again?

It looks familiar, yet completely unrecognizable.

He couldn’t help but turn to Lucilia, who was beside him.

”Don’t worry, I can understand it,” Lucilia reassured him. ”It’s Ancient Rosan, the archaic version of the language you use now.”

He placed the logbook in front of Lucilia and helped her turn the pages as she read.

These are Sad’s sailing logs from his youth. However, this thin booklet only recorded the last two years of his journey.

””After years of learning, I finally mastered that script. I can finally decipher that ancient book. f.r(e)e\webn.ovel.co\m

”The world in the book is truly enchanting; my adventurous spirit is boiling! I also want to go there, to see that strange world.

”...

”I found a way from the past, hahaha.

”One must possess a [Treasure] to pass. Otherwise, it’s impossible.

”Finally found a clue.

”No, the defects of my body make it impossible for me to master the [Treasure]. It would only lead to my death.

”...

”Perhaps I should have returned.””

Through Lucilia, Alka listened to almost the entire logbook.

”Is the world mentioned in that book real? Do you think it’s genuine?” Alka couldn’t help but ask Lucilia.

This was what he cared about most.

”It should exist,” she began, her delicate eyebrows knitted tightly in thought. ”There are such records within my family. Warriors from our lineage went to a place seeking the truth of life, and they never returned.”

”Every time such Warriors embarked on their journey, we held grand yet sorrowful ceremonies and prepared their tombstones in advance.”

”Perhaps they went to this very place. However, the elders wouldn’t share such details with me. They believe that without the courage to venture forth, one is not worthy of the knowledge.”

Hearing this, Alka gazed at the book.

So, it’s actually real.

Lost in thought, Alka picked up the scroll. Unrolling it revealed a map, just as he’d expected. And from the logbook, he already knew this map showed the location where the [Treasure] was buried.

And what the [Pointer] on the Compass was indicating... was this very Island.

He blinked.

A total of five points of light appeared on his interface. Four blue, and one golden.

All the blue ones indicated unknown [Magic Treasures].

He reached out and tapped the golden point of light.

[Hidden Treasure]

[Difficulty: Lava Tolerant, Powerful (Three Spirals)]

[Fame: 56]

[Treasure Information: None]

Indeed, there was no information.

In his logbook, Sad hadn’t recorded any actual information about this Treasure. It was all just him chronicling his various feelings and emotions.

Who wants to read those?

This person was really writing a diary.

He sighed.

Alka wrapped the map up again and carefully put it away.

So, the golden light spot equals [Treasure].

And I’ve already learned the specific location of one Treasure.

As for the difficulty... it’s best not to pay too much attention to it; this isn’t a Treasure I can explore now.

A [Treasure]... I wonder how long it will take until I have enough strength to covet it.
