Evolution Begins with Elemental Domination

Not everyone who came from Oran City was friendly.

Day had just broken, the morning mist yet to fade.

Early in the morning, an unidentified Celestial Fire rained down like a meteor shower, accompanied by brilliant Thunder Strikes, directly bombarding the critical Rune buildings.

Other unidentified individuals warped in using light, or cut their way onto the field with various dimensional skills, weaving forward in a surprise assault.

The scale of the attack was immense.

However, the local assault corps stationed there were not to be underestimated. They mounted a staunch defense, not only forcing the enemy to retreat empty-handed but also causing them to lose two of their own. Meanwhile, the various elemental barriers and counter-bombardments propped up in the sky managed to block the sudden onslaught of Celestial Fire and Thunder Strikes.

”It’s to be expected that they would attack first,” Su Chen said.

The uniquely blessed Oran City had always been mired in turmoil and chaos.

Factional infighting, power struggles, and internal contests never ceased.

The best way to divert internal conflicts is, naturally, to provoke an external war.

What’s frightening is that it wasn’t just the work of ambitious individuals; the will of this world itself encouraged and fueled it all.

”At ten o’clock, the mission hall announced a new mission. The gist is that as long as we defend the critical Rune buildings at Holiday Square for three days, we can rebuild the Crystal Prism Tower and unlock four types of Rune buildings at once,” Gong Jun said.

According to previously disclosed information, the Crystal Prism Tower was of core importance. By feeding it mineral and wood resources, one could unlock various levels of defensive towers and city-building units.

”So while we’re defending the city, the people from Oran City have probably received the order to attack,” Su Chen said thoughtfully.

What’s disgusting is that Oran City was still under a ten-day newbie protection mechanic.

Once we’re in a state of combat, we people of Dongfu City probably won’t be able to enter their safety barrier due to the ”enemy” identification.

”One side attacks, one side defends. To put it bluntly, we’re just passively taking a beating. It’s really frustrating,” Pang Peng complained.

”Not necessarily. If they want to attack Dongfu City, they’ll have to come through the Teleportation Gate as a transit point, at the very least,” Su Chen said.

That’s something we can exploit. We can also intercept them on their journey as they rush through the forest.

”Oh, right, there’s one more thing...”

Gong Jun added, ”After the three-day period, there will be a hidden individual reward settlement. The top ten thousand contributors will receive mysterious, generous rewards, including Class Star Level promotions, a Magic Talent Blessing, and special Runes that cannot be synthesized.”

At these words, everyone’s expression changed. The rewards were incredibly generous and certainly whetted their appetites.

A promotion in one’s Class Authority would bring a truly substantial transformation to their power.

A Magic Talent Blessing was something they’d never even heard of. It made them wonder about the corresponding talents and just how much of a boost it would provide.

As for the special, unsynthesizable Runes, they subconsciously reminded people of Spirit Element Runes. But if that was the case, why not just call them that?

There had to be something fishy going on.

”Is there a penalty for losing?” Yan Ziqian asked.

”Not sure. Probably not. The official broadcast didn’t mention it, and I only listened to it for a bit during my break,” Gong Jun said, unable to be certain.

In fact, he had been immersed in polishing the rifling of a gun barrel all morning. Completely focused, he hadn’t turned on the radio at all.

Only after successfully forging a brand-new replica of a Colt M1911 did he have the leisure to get outside information, which was why he had also missed the news about the fifth batch of Rune synthesis formulas.

He wasn’t in a hurry about that, though.

Sooner or later, he would have to go to Qixia Border Town and then teleport to the critical Rune building area anyway.

Generally speaking, important areas would have special posts and announcements, as well as printed flyers being distributed, so there was no need to worry about missing information.

Besides, now that their personal Rune systems were established, most people focused on upgrading existing Runes. Unless a new key piece of the system was discovered, they generally just needed to know the gist of things.

Besides keeping tabs on the enemy, they were also watching to see if any crucial, game-changing Runes had appeared.

Like how the Water Creation Skill and Growth Skill became a Eureka moment for the new civilization’s progress.

Right now, much of the speculation was undoubtedly focused on the unrevealed Thunder Element Runes, and whether they could enable the large-scale Recovery of power facilities.

This really hit close to home.

”Let’s eat first,” Su Chen said.

It was almost noon. Having eaten breakfast early in the morning and then expending a lot of physical energy, everyone was getting hungry.

Although the professional chef had left, he had properly prepared all the venison before he went. They just needed to take it out of the refrigerator and heat it up in the microwave.

”Uncle Liao and the others should be able to enjoy the convenience of the Teleportation Gate,” Pang Peng remarked with a sigh.

According to their travel plan, they would first head to Qixia Border Town, try their luck to see if there was any car service, and if they could see the Teleportation Gate deployed at the town entrance, the round trip might be incredibly fast.

”If there are no surprises, they should be back by noon.”

The trip there might have been inconvenient, but the return trip would surely be very convenient.

At the dinner table, Su Chen had just finished the warm venison and quietly began to look inward.

Deep within his Sea of Consciousness, the small tree of Spiritual Energy floated quietly, its branches like glazed glass, its veins shimmering with a faint light.

Ever since unlocking the second Core Authority, he had expected it to sprout new branches and bear a High Tier fruit of Authority.

But now, it seemed to be accumulating energy for some deeper transformation. After a period of waiting, the small tree of Spiritual Energy did not grow any new branches.

However, upon closer inspection, the two original fruit-bearing branches had quietly undergone a change.
