Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations

”Uncle.” Ian Shelby gathered his gaze and continued to stride forward, his voice low and calm, ”But I must fulfill my father’s wishes, I don’t want him to worry too much.”

Eden soon formed his own ideas as well, following his nephew, ”In any case, the throne cannot fall into Taylor’s hands.”

Because Catherine’s influence is also great; compared to her, nephew Louis is clean as a blank sheet.

Ian Shelby looked straight ahead, but something flashed deep in his eyes.

Eden lifted his gaze to the sky, and after a while, he spoke with some reluctance, ”I will assist you once you inherit the throne, if...” Though he was internally excited, he hesitated to finish.

”If what?” Ian Shelby asked.

Eden suppressed his excitement and steadied himself, lowering his gaze with a sigh, ”Nothing, you inherit the throne first, have confidence in being a good King, with me here, everyone will support you.”

”But I really don’t want to be,” Ian Shelby said helplessly, rubbing his brow, ”I can only confide in you. I feel that even though I am the eldest son, not many in the country or the royal family acknowledge me. Besides you, I have no power at my side, as if I am alone.”

Eden felt he became Louis’s support and gained Louis’s trust, along with the excitement of seeing the dawn of hope, which led him to unthinkingly make such a remark—

”It doesn’t matter, you inherit first, as long as the throne doesn’t fall into the hands of Catherine and her son.”

He also said, ”After you take office, if you really don’t want to be, you can change the constitution, abolishing the eldest son’s succession.”

Eden stopped and turned his gaze, a seriousness settled in his deep eyes, ”Do you understand what I’m saying?”

Ian Shelby also halted, he met his uncle’s gaze, and from his eyes’ depths, saw the repressed desire.

”I can be this King.” Eden said to him with particular caution, ”I will help you safeguard Lorelei.”

So, is this the real reason he brought me back when father was critically ill, to prevent the throne from falling into the hands of Catherine and her son?

The fox’s tail has inevitably shown.

Ian Shelby actually had suspicions long ago, but even now turning suspicions into reality, he still couldn’t accept it, this was his own uncle.

Moreover, over the years, father had always trusted uncle, without any defense.

Ian Shelby raised his hand and gave him a big hug, saying with deep emotion, ”Uncle, with those words from you, I feel much more at ease with inheriting the throne, I really don’t want to be trapped by it my whole life.”

”Hmm.” Eden was really happy! Because victory was in sight!

So, Eden, who was always shrewd, upon hearing his nephew’s words today, became complacent.

He didn’t notice that the other side was probing, instead continuing to comfort, ”No thanks needed, you are my nephew, and the only family I have left in this world, who else will aid you if not me?”

His words made Ian Shelby think of his sister Annie; she is family too. Is she still alive? Where is she?

”Louis, have you heard any news about Annie all these years?” Eden released him and asked confusedly, ”Haven’t you been sending people to investigate all along?”

”In a case of disappearance, the farther apart the time, the slimmer the hope of finding.” Ian Shelby’s heart ached, ”This may become a lifelong regret for me, also a lifelong pain for father.”

”...” Eden didn’t know how to console him, ”Life is filled with regrets, that’s why those who are alive should strive to be happy, fulfilled.”

Ian Shelby nodded, ”Uncle, father is already nearing the end, in these days I will try to stay beside him, for the royal family’s internal affairs that can be handled, please help deal with them, after all, father trusts you most.”

”Don’t worry, I will.” Eden would try to take over, saying to him, ”You hurry back to your palace and move some things here, during life’s countdown, staying by his side more often would also be a comfort to him.”
