Hijacking the Timeline

Feng Qi stared at the image of the bloodstone on the tablet, momentarily stunned.

He was no stranger to bloodstones.

In his previous Sacrifice Line, he had served as vice-commander of the Dawn Battle Group. When Mu Qing formed the Dawn Second Group, he received an escort mission request from the Old Day City East Supply Zone.

At that time, Mu Qing was unavailable to participate in the escort.

So, he personally led his warriors to the Old Day City East Supply Zone, met with Li Duo, the person in charge of the bloodstone, and learned about its miraculous properties in the laboratory.

During the subsequent escort mission, he also uncovered Wang Yi’s secret identity as the Lord of the Mist.

That Sacrifice Line had ended with his death during the escort mission.

As he thought about this, a realization struck him.

Could this escort mission be the one where he would meet Mu Qing again?

Choosing to join the Dawn Battle Group in the previous Sacrifice Line had clearly altered the course of Mu Qing’s growth.

Since he hadn’t influenced the Dawn Battle Group in this Sacrifice Line, there was a high probability that Mu Qing would personally come to participate in the escort mission.

In fact, the probability of Mu Qing’s arrival was very high.

In the previous Sacrifice Line, a super domain creature had appeared during the final stage of the struggle for the bloodstone.

Even with the combined forces of all the Domain Forces involved, they were no match for the super domain creature.

Back then, he had barely managed to carve out a path to survival by using his spiritual body, which had broken free from his physical form, and with the support of the Domain Forces.

This suggested that during the escort mission in the normal timeline, there must have been an unknown force capable of confronting the super domain creature.

Otherwise, Lord of the Mist, Li Xingchen, and the others wouldn’t have survived to the end.

Upon closer reflection, the most likely candidate for this force was Mu Qing.

At this stage, Lord of the Mist was still in his developmental phase and stood no chance against a super domain creature.

Only the terrifyingly powerful Mu Qing could face such a threat without fear.

This thought gave him a headache.

Meeting Mu Qing would definitely not be a good thing; it might even jeopardize his plans for this Sacrifice Line.

But if he had to meet her, he needed to prepare his arguments in advance.

He absolutely couldn’t let Mu Qing disrupt his Villain Arc.

He fell into deep contemplation.

Three days later.

At 1 AM, Feng Qi was still busy in the Group Commander’s Office.

He heard the door open and immediately looked up.

”I’m back.”

Facing the Lord of the Mist, who had just emerged from seclusion, Feng Qi asked curiously, ”How many of our stored resources did you use for this seclusion?”

”About a third, but it greatly improved my strength.”

”Conserve them. We’ll need these resources later. We’ll be distributing compensation funds again soon, and it would be awkward if you’d used them all up.”

The Lord of the Mist sat down at the desk. ”I was already very frugal. If I’d truly squandered them, I would have used them all up by now... We really need to infiltrate an institute as soon as possible to secure enough resources to squander.”

”Right, has anything major happened recently?”

Hearing this, Feng Qi reached into a drawer and pulled out a tablet.

After waking the interface, he tapped a few times and brought up a news article from his favorites.

He then handed the tablet to the Lord of the Mist, who looked puzzled.

The Lord of the Mist took the tablet and immediately began scanning the news. Like Feng Qi, his expression changed upon seeing the image of the bloodstone.

”Is this a miracle artifact?”

”I can’t say for sure. The Black Flag Domain Battle Group acquired this bloodstone when they encountered a severely injured blue-skinned creature during a reconnaissance mission. It was taken from its possession.”

”Its appearance has stirred up trouble in the Old Day City East Supply Zone. Many factions are vying for it, and several clashes have already occurred. We’ve had to deploy some of our warriors to the recruitment hall to guard the bloodstone.”

After hearing Feng Qi’s explanation, the Lord of the Mist fell into deep thought.

After a long pause, he looked up. ”In that case, I’ll visit the recruitment hall tomorrow morning to examine the bloodstone up close. If it’s confirmed to be a miracle artifact, we’ll definitely make our move.”

”If it’s a miracle item, how do you plan to acquire it?” Feng Qi asked, his curiosity piqued.

”Late at night, when the hall is quiet, I’ll transform into mist, slip in, kill without leaving a trace, and take it without leaving a mark.”

Looking at the Lord of the Mist’s beaming smile, Feng Qi felt a bead of sweat form on his forehead.

The next morning, Feng Qi accompanied the Lord of the Mist to the recruitment hall.

The warriors on duty from various battle groups nearby didn’t stop them upon seeing the Lord of the Mist.

Inside the hall, they took the elevator down to the underground laboratory.

There, they met Li Duo, who was studying the bloodstone. After a discussion, they were shown the bloodstone displayed in the lab.

After learning about its properties and examining it up close, the Lord of the Mist confirmed one thing:

The bloodstone was indeed a miracle item.

Back at the garrison manor, they began discussing how to seize this miracle bloodstone.

The Lord of the Mist’s idea was simple: wait until the dead of night, then kill and loot.

Feng Qi didn’t refuse this proposal.

Early that morning, the Lord of the Mist launched his operation.

Feng Qi remained in the Group Commander’s Office, awaiting news.

As time passed, by 6:10 AM, the office door swung open, and the Lord of the Mist returned.

”Failed?” Feng Qi asked curiously, looking at the Lord of the Mist’s dejected face.

”Damn it. Several other forces had the same idea. They were all mutually restraining each other, so I couldn’t make a move.”

The Lord of the Mist settled into the chair at his desk.

”What are your thoughts now?” he continued.

He had long anticipated the Lord of the Mist’s failure. If the bloodstone could have been easily seized, there would have been no need for the escort mission.

”Let’s wait and see. All the Domain Forces are vying for this bloodstone, but this is our territory. No need to rush.”

As they chatted, they began devising a plan to seize the bloodstone.

In the following days, the Lord of the Mist periodically visited the underground laboratory beneath the recruitment hall to monitor the bloodstone’s condition and prevent other factions from stealing it.

But soon, something happened that he couldn’t control.

Li Duo, the researcher in charge of the bloodstone, decided to transport it back to the Old Day Research Institute via aircraft.

In the Lord of the Mist’s view, if the bloodstone were returned to the institute, it would become nearly impossible to seize. It would most likely fall into the hands of the Spirit Energy Clan.

To prevent the bloodstone from being transported, the moment the aircraft took off that day, he resolutely transformed into mist and pursued it.

Before the transport plane had flown far from the airport, it was violently shot down.

Feng Qi was greatly surprised by this.

During a previous escort mission, Li Duo had told him that the bloodstone could never be transported out of the supply zone. The planes carrying it had been shot down before.

But he hadn’t expected the Lord of the Mist to be behind it.

The Lord of the Mist explained that he needed to keep the bloodstone within the supply zone, where it would remain under his control. Once it left the supply zone, it would no longer be his territory.
