Pokemon: My Trainer Simulator

Chapter 18: Chapter 18: A Wonderful Start

When talking about attending school, it’s really just about joining a literacy class to help him recognize more characters.

Despite the advanced technology in the Ore Region, the literacy rate in Pyrite Town is absurdly low; having an elementary level education from a past life is already quite remarkable.

Ultimately, there’s no strong or enlightened force to unify Pyrite Town.

The locals here form cliques, making it a disordered, loose collection of sand.

The social environment in the neighboring Silicon City is worlds apart from here.

”Literacy class, huh... I just hope it’s not too expensive. My assets aren’t much either.” Baimu worried about his little wallet not being able to bear it.

Just from the high prices of books in stores, you can see the value of knowledge, and the price of schooling is likely even higher.

However, surprisingly, the only literacy class within the Quicksand Team is free for official members and their children, with only the necessary books to buy, and these book prices are reasonable.

Knowledge is actually so ”cheap”!

Baimu nearly thought he had returned to his previous life, and upon asking, he realized that this was a benefit given by the senior officers to formal members.

Excitedly, he chose to register on the spot.

Upon entering, his enthusiasm cooled considerably; a glance around the classroom mostly revealed girls, with a few boys possibly under ten years old, skilled in all sorts of mischief.

The Quicksand Team’s combat department, known as the Quartz Sandstone Team Three, does have women, like the strong cadre Ayana, but most of the future for girls in street regulation after learning writing is becoming clerks and various auxiliary personnel.

’Go learn writing and be a clerk to help the household.’

Such words are not uncommon.

It’s not that this is bad; auxiliary roles have high safety and decent benefits. Giovanni’s secretary Zhengniao holds a high position—he even lets her lead a special team.

But the Quicksand Team is not the Rocket Team; here, violence is worshipped, and status is entirely converted based on strength.

In short, this literacy class exposed many problems.

Disdain for knowledge, discrimination against the weak, every aspect...

Suddenly, Baimu wanted change—to change the Quicksand Team, change the entire Pyrite Town, but did he have the ability?

What did he really want to do?

”Hoot?”

”Nothing.”

Baimu smiled at Aron, deciding to set these aside for now; he hadn’t even secured his own safety yet, thinking about these things was inevitably too early.

The students and teacher were very surprised when he joined; Quicksand Team members rarely come to literacy classes, not even a few a year.

Maybe because it’s fresh, tomorrow he might not come.

The only teacher knew that once Baimu was mocked by his colleagues, he’d feel ashamed and choose to quit; it’s mostly like this.

Recognize characters? Not necessary!

The strong don’t need to know many characters; once their status is high enough, naturally someone will handle reading-like tasks.

This concept is quite prevalent among the mid and lower tiers of the Quicksand Team, unaware that the upper layers secretly hire home tutors, sowing the seeds of wisdom in their children at a very young age.

The divide between the upper and lower tiers is too severe.

However.

On the second afternoon, Baimu came too, even the third afternoon, carrying books with the obedient Aron, not fearing embarrassment at all.

To have such awareness.

The teacher was very surprised and decided to observe more; if possible, he didn’t want the Quicksand Team to bury such young talent.

Don’t underestimate just recognizing characters, to break through prejudice and others’ mockery is extremely difficult.

But he didn’t know that the first day Baimu came to class, the related news had already reached the ears of several bigwigs in the Sand Group.

”As expected, a clever person.”

Liu Ge was very satisfied with Baimu’s performance.

It’s too difficult to find like-minded teammates in the Quicksand Team, but such a small move could also touch him.

——

After class.

Unable to hold back, Baimu hurried home; after these days of Aron’s diligent battles, the simulation countdown shortened a lot, from midnight to after dusk.

Soon I’ll be able to simulate again! Maybe I can unlock a great skill!

Or maybe Aron will level up by five?

Any one is good, any one is great!

”Emperor of Luck, Emperor of Luck, I am the Emperor of Luck~”

He carefully cleaned his face and hands, sat on the bed holding Aron lying next to him, reading a book while waiting.

These days, he went to collect intel about Stone Wall, but alas, his social circle was too small, so the harvest was not much, nor could he find a place specialized in selling intel.

But at least he knows that these days, that guy can’t make trouble for him.

That’s enough.

As long as he has sufficient development time, what needs to be solved can always be solved.

Soon, the countdown ended.

[Choose your birth region ▽]

Baimu pondered for a while and decided to switch regions, choosing Johto.

The gender remained male, and the Pokémon could still only be random, which made him curious as to how he could eventually choose his Pokémon.

[Draw your talents]

Press.

Fixed Talent:

[Physically Strong (Very Healthy)]

Optional Talents:

[Careless (Pokémon Health Management is Rough)]

[Poor Family Background (Burdened developing Pokémon)]

[Cruel and Ruthless (Focused on accomplishing goals)]

[Elite System (Won’t capture too many Pokémon)]

Hmm? Wow?

Could it be lucky? Seems lucky, the fixed talent and the two talents below are so normal!

Wait, what seems ”normal” might not be normal...

Baimu hesitated for a moment, vigorously rubbed Aron’s head, trying to borrow some luck from it, then resolutely chose the last two talents.

Simulation begins!

Still pixel animation, and this time’s protagonist... Hmm? Camping Boy?

He blinked; that little person wearing a green hat is surely the NPC often translated as Boy Scout.

[You were born in Jihua City, with an ordinary family background.]

On the screen, the little person receives the first Pokémon from his parents.

[At age ten, you received your first companion from your parents: Geodude, you believe you two will go far.]

Camping Boy sets off from Jihua City, encountering an attack from a bird-type Pokémon on the road, but successfully captures it using Geodude’s strength.

[You captured a second Pokémon, Spearow, on Route 30, increasing your travel companions.]

After traveling a bit more, Camping Boy encounters wild NPCs and battles them, ultimately achieving victory.

Baimu widened his eyes; it just seemed so smooth, much smoother than the previous two times. Has his luck gotten better?

On the screen, Camping Boy meets many opponents on Route 30 and Route 31; despite mixed wins and losses, it counts as smooth sailing.

Afterwards.

When Camping Boy arrives at Violet City, the first Gym challenge begins.

The opponent is a boy in a kimono, using Hoothoot, Doduo, and Pidgeotto, these three Flying Type Pokémon.

——Just happens to be countered by Camping Boy’s Geodude.

Thus, Camping Boy smoothly defeats this Gym Leader, and Geodude evolves into Graveler during the battle.

[You defeated the Violet Gym Leader Asoo and received the Flying Wings Badge]

[Your Geodude evolved into Graveler]

Wow, this is so smooth!

Never had such a wonderful start; please cheer for me!

Baimu was clearly a spectator, but at this moment felt moved to tears, as the previous two were so abnormal, torturing him into having a stomachache.

What is a true Pokémon Trainer? You! Camping Boy! You are the real Pokémon Trainer!
