Eternal Thief

The lonely cloaked figure enjoying the Nightmare’s Fang was none other than Ace, or more precisely, the Avatar of Holy Twilight!

After embarking on his journey to the Duskmire Hall to confront the Ghost King with a borrowed knife, Ace separated from his avatar of the Holy Twilight, as this was his most powerful trump card and assurance, in case his life was threatened or he needed an escape route.

Furthermore, Ace knew that if he got entangled with the Evernight Council, and won their trust and infiltrated their headquarters, there still was a chance that he might not find any clues about the Blood Moon, so his Avatar’s mission was to search in areas outside the Evernight Council’s jurisdiction.

However, before leaving the Myriad Hollow, Ace decided to scout for potential heist targets and compiled a list for the house members. After taking care of the inner-city region, he came to the outer city.

While gathering clues on the targets, Ace stumbled upon this tavern, and this was his third visit.

Today, after completing the list, he planned to leave the Myriad Hollow. But what he wasn’t expecting was encountering the Scamp Gang, who instantly grabbed his attention, especially Scamp’s unique method of stealing.

Although Scamp’s method was nowhere near on the level of the Absolute Pickpocket, which has turned into an innate ability, it was still reasonably practical and sneaky.

Moreover, Ace could easily sense that Scamp’s cultivation was only at the peak of the Abyssal Master realm, yet he was able to steal a storage ring from an Abyssal Grandmaster. Even if the devil was drunk, Ace knew better than anyone that with the slightest error, the devil would’ve instantly become alert.

But Ace has yet to discover that the Scamp Gang was actually inspired by the E.V.A, who was none other than Ace’s wife, Eva. He was still under the impression that Scamp was an aspiring thief who embarked on this path on his own and discovered a method similar to pickpocketing without any help or guidance.

Eva also didn’t tell anyone about her adventures in the Bone Mercenary City because she wanted others to find out on their own and be surprised.

But Eva hadn’t expected that an imitator would appear in the Myriad Hollow, and Ace of all people would spot him.

At this moment, Ace continued to pretend to be drinking and under the influence of alcohol. At the same time, he secretly spread his Twilight Law Sense, which was unique and could only be sensed by those at least an Abyssal Grand Lord, due to the pure soul type characteristic of the Twilight Law Sense.

Furthermore, as long as the other party wasn’t using anything related to Force or was a true cultivator who had primordial Qi like Ace, they wouldn’t be able to escape the Twilight Law Sense’s detection.

Although the Twilight Law Sense might not be as powerful as Ace’s Law Thief Sense, it was still extremely powerful and practical, making his Avatar of Holy Twilight at the same level as the Son of Heaven!

As time passed, the oblivious Scamp Gang, under Ace’s scrutiny, continued to reel in more storage rings from drunk abyssal beings. With increasing success, Scamp grew bolder, even targeting a group that had just started drinking and stealing a storage ring from a burly demonic woman.

The four demon brothers were also the same, as their guts started to grow bigger, and grinned with elation while drinking in celebration.

After stealing 14 storage rings, Scamp’s forehead was drenched in sweat as his Abyssal Qi was running low since using that ability and controlling it took a massive toll on his mind and body.

He wasn’t like Ace, who could spread and divide his soul threads into thousands and then send them to vast distances while controlling them; not even the House Members had such skills yet.

At least for now, only Noa, who has mastered the Thief’s Charity (Inverse and Reverse) to an extremely high level, can create and control over 500 soul threads at a time.

Scamp didn’t have the Thief’s Charity skill, derived from the system’s Pickpocket skill, and later further refined by Ace himself. He was using his innate ability to achieve the same effect.

The demon brothers seemed to have noticed Scamp’s exhaustion, and the Eldest Brother quickly said, “Brother Scamp, it’s enough for today, don’t overdraw yourself. It might lead to an error. Drink this Nightmare Fang; it has rich Abyssal Qi, and you’ll feel better.”

Scamp accepted the Eldest Brother’s kind intention, as he had the same thought in mind, and drank the Nightmare’s Fang, feeling both intoxicated and rejuvenated.

However, Scamp was still greedy as he glanced at Ace’s ’drunken’ figure and whispered in an arrogant tone, “Alright, let me take care of that fat fish, and then we’ll quickly leave before anyone notices what happened.”

The demon brothers naturally accepted this as they all had already decided the ’drunkard’s’ fate and smiled maliciously.

Ace, who had heard their conversation, couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow with a hint of surprise before he smiled with amusement, ’This greedy little fellow, he’s not content with what he has and wants more. Well, I can’t blame him since I’m a pretty weak target in their eyes, not to mention rich. Furthermore, with those four Abyssal Grandmasters covering for him, they are ready to flee at the moment they are noticed. Well, I’ll entertain you guys…’

Scamp and the demon brothers failed to notice that within a fraction of a second, the storage ring on Ace’s finger suddenly switched. Although the color seemed to be the same, the runic pattern on it vanished. They had no idea that this ’storage’ ring was just a Lower Ascension Grade-1 defensive treasure, which was now the most ’ordinary’ treasure in Ace’s possession.

At this moment, Scamp made a move as his shadow moved towards Ace’s like a shadowy serpent, and the moment that the shadow touches Ace’s shadow, Ace instantly noticed it!

’This shadow isn’t just capable of stealing, I reckon if he wants to, he can even attack with it…’ Ace, with his years of experience, accurately speculated about Scamp’s ability.

But Ace pretended not to notice and let the shadow reach the ’storage’ ring while he was secretly analyzing Scamp’s trick.

When Scamp’s shadow completely covered his ring, Ace felt as though his ring was being devoured; there was no space law involved, which gave Ace another surprise.

’The Abyssal Beings are proficient in devouring laws, and this shadow possesses the same characteristic, but using space law is still much quicker and stealthier…’ Ace thought.

At this moment, the shadow also retracted, leaving his finger empty. Scamp didn’t sense anything amiss as Ace’s ’storage ring’ appeared on his hand, and without scanning, it stowed it away as if nothing had happened before he faintly nodded towards the demon brothers.

The Demon Brothers knew that it was a success, and they grinned widely before they all stood up, as they knew it was time to leave.

“Let’s go.” The Eldest Brother unhurriedly said while storing the remaining Nightmare’s Fang, and the entire Scamp Gang slowly walked towards the exit.

The Scamp Gang was in high spirits, thinking today was a huge success, and they quickly started to make their way back to the inn, unaware of their stalker!
