Eternal Thief

Ace didn’t pay any more attention to the Abyssal Succubus Demon and looked at the burly, purple-skinned Abyssal Demon, the Hall Proprietor, and curtly said, “My items?”

Despite Ace’s lack of aura, the Hall Proprietor felt like he was facing an unfathomable Abyssal Being, especially with the terrifying Vaultkeeper standing beside him.

The Hall Proprietor quickly forgot whatever he wanted to say as he didn’t want to antagonize this person, and coughed in the direction of Lucy as if giving her a signal.

Lucy instantly snapped out of her thoughts and flashed a charming smile before she flipped her hand, and three items appeared floating above her palm.

“This is the Emberglass Soul Urn, Black Quartz Jar, and finally the Ancient Abyssal Permit, that esteemed lord had won!” Lucy stated before the items flew towards Ace.

Ace’s eyes shimmered with a hint of ecstasy, especially when he looked at the flat black box. He grabbed the items and stowed the Emberglass Soul Urn and Black Quartz Jar right away, before he opened the black box slightly and saw the obsidian plaque inside, which was the Ancient Abyssal Permit!

After conforming its unique aura, Ace closed the box and stowed it away into his Thief’s Space, and instructed Pixy to keep it separately.

“The payment…” Ace was about to ask the Vaultkeeper for payment when the Hall Proprietor cut him off mid-sentence.

“My lord, the Emberglass Soul Urn and Black Quartz Jar are a gift from the Obsidian Spirit Hall; there’s no need for you to pay for them. Please consider it as a token of my sincerity.”

Ace’s eyes narrowed as he looked at the Hall Proprietor’s smiling face, which appeared hideous compared to Lucy standing beside him.

Nonetheless, since they were giving him free items, Ace didn’t mind, and this way, he didn’t need to borrow from the Vaultkeeper.

“What about the Ancient Abyssal Permit?” Ace asked with a hint of derision.

Hall Proprietor smiled wryly as he said, “If it were something the Obsidian Spirit Hall owned, or if it was only about the Abyss Gems, I would’ve given it to my lord without any question.

“However, as my lord is aware of it, the Ancient Abyssal Permit was given to us a mysterious guest, and they specifically demand the Ebon Vein Nectar brew by her highness the Dread Duchess. So, I’m afraid…hikk…” The Hall Proprietor suddenly trembled when he felt a mountainous spiritual pressure locked on him, and an icy killing intent gripped his heart.

Lucy was also affected by that terrifying power despite not being its target, but she felt as if death was looming over her at that moment.

The owner of this spiritual pressure was none other than the Vaultkeeper, and his eerie voice rang like a death knell at this moment, “What happened today was a blatant disrespect towards her highness’s prestige, and if not for Young Lord’s presence, your Obsidian Spirit Hall would’ve been raised to ground with your owner!

“However, this still won’t change the fact that someone has dared to change the prestige of her highness. That’s why, her highness would like to know who was the one who put this Ancient Abyssal Permit.”

Ace knew this was coming as the Dread Duchess had already instructed the Vaultkeeper to discover the identity of the real owner of the Ancient Abyssal Permit despite agreeing to Ace’s request for trading it for the Ebon Vein Nectar. As for what condition she posed for Ace, it was entirely a different matter.

The Vaultkeeper’s question stumped the Hall Proprietor, but he knew this was inevitable when he accepted the condition to sell the Ancient Abyssal Permit.

He even warned the other party, but the thing is that the person didn’t seem afraid at all. In fact, that person was also stronger than the Hall Proprietor, and when the Abyssal Marquis behind him intervened, the outcome was even more unexpected.

The Abyssal Marquis actually agreed and returned in a hurry as if he was running away for his life, which shocked the Hall Proprietor. If they could, the Abyssal Marquis would’ve kept the Ancient Abyssal Permit for himself because of how precious it was, yet he retreated instead.

The Hall Proprietor instantly knew that the owner of the Ancient Abyssal Permit wasn’t something the Obsidian Spirit Hall could mess with, not to mention that person was also provoking the Dread Duchess.

In the end, they decided to go with it and let the Dread Duchess deal with that mysterious person personally.

Furthermore, the mysterious person seemed to have anticipated something like this, leaving behind some words for such a situation.

The Hall Proprietor didn’t want to say it, but now that it came to it, he had no choice but to do it.

He gritted his teeth and calmed his palpitations and said, “I-I have no idea who that person is, and they left after leaving the Ancient Abyssal Permit behind. Even the Marquis couldn’t stop that person despite his intervention for her highness’s sake.

“However, that person seemed to have suspected that the Her Highness would seek them out, so they left with a message. That person said, and I quote, ’If you are curious about who I am, you’ll only get one chance when I come to retreat the Nectar. If you missed this chance, then I’ll see you in the Whispering Soul Grotto!’

“That’s what that person said, please, Lord Vaultkeeper, we have nothing to do with this, and we were extremely helpless against that person. I hope you won’t hold it against us!” The Hall Proprietor was literally begging at this point.

Lucy was shocked when she heard those words and couldn’t help but feel that person had a death wish.

Furthermore, now she also understands why these guys didn’t pocket the Ancient Abyssal Permit themselves and instead auctioned it while also offending the Dread Duchess.

Ace was also astounded and couldn’t help but feel he might have stepped into something else’s scheme against the Dread Duchess.

The flames in Vaultkeeper’s eyes flickered violently as he was furious after hearing those blunt words of challenge. However, he didn’t make things difficult for the Hall Proprietor since he could tell the latter wasn’t lying, and his reasoning also made sense.

Nonetheless, the Vaultkeeper now really wanted to see that brazen challenger. He glanced at Ace and said impassively, “You may pay him, young lord, and I also have to seek your forgiveness because I need to escort you back, for I have other matters to tend to!”

Everyone felt chills in their spine as they could feel the naked killing intent emitting from the Vaultkeeper!
