Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person

”Stop!”

Seeing the situation take a turn for the worse, Zhang Su hurriedly shouted. The people next to him raised their rifles, aiming at the Japanese woman. If she dared to make any further moves, the outcome would be predictable. No matter how strange her body technique, she couldn’t escape under the blockade of several rifles; even a martial arts hero would fall under a hail of bullets!

At the brink of life and death, there’s no need to talk about principles!

The scene seemed to freeze. The Japanese woman’s right leg was pressed against Lu Yubo’s chest, while the steel rod in her hand angled from left to right, pressing against his Adam’s apple. Lu Yubo swallowed, his Adam’s apple sliding up and down against the tip of the rod. He didn’t dare to move, and the grain sampler in his right hand trembled slightly, revealing his inner panic.

If the opponent had used a grain sampler instead of a steel rod, his throat would already have a bloody hole, and he wouldn’t even have time to eat a zombie thalamus before perishing!

The Japanese woman made no further actions. She withdrew both her weapon and foot, then took two steps back, turning to look at Zhang Su, her gaze seeming to ask, is that enough?

Lu Yubo rubbed his chest, then touched his reddened throat, glaring helplessly at the woman two meters away, wishing he could draw a gun on her. But that was clearly not an option.

”A real man can bend and stretch. A loss is a loss. Practice more and come back!”

Seeing the changing expressions on Lu Yubo’s face, Zhang Su, worried he might act rashly, called out to him.

”Damn, what a disgrace today. Didn’t even touch her, got my throat sealed by a woman. You guys... don’t go blabbing about this, and you too, got it?”

Lu Yubo glared fiercely at Su Xiaoya.

”Oh...”

Su Xiaoya nodded somewhat reluctantly, her lips silently pouting.

”Bozai, losing to her is no shame. Her skills are more than two levels above yours. Even if I were to compete with her, the result wouldn’t be much different!”

Zhang Su handed a cigarette to Lu Yubo, then patted him on the shoulder and said with a sigh.

”No way, Brother Su, even you can’t beat her?”

As Zhang Su’s number one fan, Lu Yubo thought that was an exaggeration.

Number two fan, Wu Lue, also blinked and said, ”Brother Su, I think you could handle her!”

Wang Xin nodded along, thinking Wu Lue was right.

Chen Hanzhou, however, frowned without speaking, looking very serious. Among the five of them, only Zhang Su and he had undergone systematic martial arts training, making his insights sharper than the others. An insider’s perception, deep down, he admired the Japanese woman’s every move.

Zhang Su waved his hand and said, ”We can be confident, but not arrogant. I am very aware of my abilities. In a life-and-death scenario, at most, we could both end up severely injured, or even perish together. As for a competition like just now, I stand no chance of winning. Her understanding of martial arts far exceeds ours. If you had to say who among us could kill her in cold weapon combat and still be alive...”

At this point, Zhang Su’s gaze inadvertently swept over Chen Hanzhou. Suddenly, he felt he shouldn’t continue and changed the subject, saying, ”In short, this woman has got some chops. We’ll talk later; let’s deal with the matter at hand first!”

”Brother Su, you’re considering bringing her into our camp?”

Wu Lue, having noticed Zhang Su’s intent to recruit talent, quietly asked.

”Exactly. Such strong combat power is rare. I’ll first get to know her situation.”

Zhang Su took the phone from Wu Lue’s hand and approached the Japanese woman, asking, ”Where’s your companion?”

The Japanese woman was visibly stunned. She thought the other party would first ask about her name, background, etc., but unexpectedly, he asked about the thing she was most concerned with, and she quickly replied.

”In a village not far from here.”

”Village...” Zhang Su pursed his lips at the familiar yet strange word and said, ”Get in the car with me. But still, same rules as always; you’ll need to hand over your weapons to us for safekeeping!”

The Japanese woman turned her wrist without hesitation, handed the slender steel rod to Zhang Su, and offered no resistance.

After the fight, their relationship surprisingly eased to some extent.

”Brother Su, damn... this gun is a fake!”

Seeing Zhang Su ask the other to surrender her weapon, Wang Xin and Wu Lue were quick-witted enough to start sorting out the Japanese woman’s other equipment left on the ground. They picked up a handgun without needing to check; the light weight was clearly plastic...

Zhang Su looked speechlessly at the Japanese woman, then pointed the phone microphone at her, indicating for her to explain.

”I can’t use firearms, including more powerful modern weapons, it’s not allowed.”

After reading the translation, Zhang Su couldn’t help but grumble to himself about how this Japanese woman had so many rules. But now wasn’t the time to fuss over such things. He took a plastic tie out of his bag and handed it to her, saying, ”Give me all your bags, then tie your hands and follow me, lead the way!”

The Japanese woman hesitated for a moment, holding the tie, but finally complied. It was hard to say if she felt confident and unafraid, or if she had no choice but to submit.

Zhang Su took the bags from her and sniffed, detecting a strong smell of alcohol. He asked in confusion, ”Why is there such a strong smell of alcohol?”

The Japanese woman, still tying her own hands, pointed to one of the three bags.

Zhang Su opened the backpack and saw a flask inside. Without even opening it, the strong scent of alcohol wafted out.

”Ah, I see, it’s cold and you’re afraid the water would freeze, so you brought alcohol to drink, huh?”

The Japanese woman shrugged without confirming or denying, and she was the first to walk towards the car.

Quickly, everyone returned to their vehicles. Su Xiaoya, who had been sitting in the front passenger seat, moved to the back. The Japanese woman sat upright in the front, raising her hand to point in a direction.

”Xiaoya, you take the phone and read me the translation.”

”Oh, okay...”

Zhang Su tossed the phone to Su Xiaoya, started the car, and asked, ”Alright, give me the details about your situation. Your name, why you came to our country, and why you’re here in this area. Tell me everything, and don’t lie!”

Faced with a barrage of questions, the Japanese woman was silent for a moment, then turned her head slightly to speak into the phone’s microphone, slowly opening her mouth...

”She says... my name is Ju Mumio. I began a world tour from Japan at the end of June. At the end of August, I departed from Korea to your country. This is the last stop of my global tour. I started from Incheon, first reached Da Lian, then traveled through several cities. On the second day after I arrived in the Mountain and Sea District, the disaster occurred.”

”Wow, world tour, that’s amazing...” In the pause of Ju Mumio’s storytelling, Su Xiaoya couldn’t help but marvel silently in her heart. She also wanted to travel, but unfortunately, in this lifetime, the farthest she had been was to Qin City. She had never been to the Mountain and Sea District or Beihai District.

”She said, uh... after the disaster broke out, I lived in a hotel for a long time until a group of people came and took away the hotel’s supplies. I then left the hotel and wandered around until I reached this area!”

”Ju Mumio... what kind of surname is that? Ju, or Jumu? Feels like it’s Ju... Such a rare surname, I don’t even know who else has the surname Ju.”

Zhang Su muttered under his breath. His knowledge of Japanese surnames was limited to something like Kurosaki, Yamamoto, Odaira; the most memorable ones were Kudou, Sakuragi, Fujiwara. As for this Ju, it took him a while to recall a somewhat familiar character, Jugei.

”She said, the Ju Clan is very ancient and very rare. Even in their own country, there aren’t many with this surname. It’s normal that you don’t know it.”

Su Xiaoya dutifully acted as the human reader.

”I see you’re quite capable of fighting. Why did you let others drive you out of the hotel back then?”

Zhang Su no longer dwelled on the surname issue. His knowledge of Japan was limited, but he focused on more detailed matters. With Ju Mumio’s abilities, dealing with three or five thugs should be no big deal. Even if they had firearms, she could use her feminine advantages to feign compliance and then skillfully resolve the situation.

”She said... the hotel was very chaotic at the time. Not only were there outsiders, but there were also internal conflicts, so I chose to leave.”

”When people were there, did you never think about bringing them together to develop in an orderly manner?”

Zhang Su asked with some curiosity. He previously thought the hotel only had Ju Mumio herself. He didn’t realize there were other survivors until now.

Ju Mumio gave Zhang Su an inexplicable look, then spoke a lot.

”Well... I naturally lack leadership talents. Even if people were brought together, it would only make things worse. Language was also a problem. They have their survival methods, and I have my own path to follow.”

”The disaster has been going on for more than three months now. How did you come from the Mountain and Sea District? Along the way, did you ever join a survivor camp? Where did you find your companion?”

Zhang Su realized that Ju Mumio was a typical lone wolf.

”She said... I was initially going to Qin City Port, but got lost and ended up here. I didn’t join any forces along the way, but I did have conflicts with two groups. I found my companion in a town; she was also alone, looking for food at the time.”

Zhang Su understood now; at least for now, the story seemed reasonable. As they reached an intersection ahead, he asked, ”Do we turn from there?”

Ju Mumio nodded.

The vehicle turned onto a small road, its speed decreased. Zhang Su looked ahead at the village and noticed a spot with a faint trail of black smoke. The thin smoke was hard to see unless observed closely. It was likely the place where Ju Mumio and her companion were hiding. In such cold weather, they’d freeze to death if they didn’t have a heater going.
