Apocalypse: the Most Ruthless Person

The three of them arrived at the laboratory, where the dissected Venom Zombie lay on a cold bed. After slowly accepting the hypothesis of the Zombie Robots, Zhang Su found them increasingly unlike living organisms, truly feeling more like transformed robots.

Although each organ was very similar to his own, they had an unusual texture, certainly not flesh and blood.

Fu Weijun glided to a small cabinet, took out another bottle of Venom Liquid, handed it to Zhang Su but was reluctant to let go, saying, “Mr. Zhang, if we can find such Zombies again, I request five milliliters, no, three milliliters for experimentation!”

Zhang Su looked at Fu Weijun, who seemed like a child unwilling to part with candy, shrugged helplessly, and said, “It’s not that I’m reluctant to let you experiment; I can give you three milliliters now. I’m just worried about accidents. Think about what would happen if three milliliters of Venom Liquid exploded—what would become of our camp?”

“Hey, wouldn’t that just take off?” Duan Wuhu said with an expressive look, even adding a “whoosh” sound.

“How about this, Mr. Zhang? You help me draw one milliliter, then dilute it ten thousand times—that should be okay, right?”

Fu Weijun released his hand and made one last small request. This Venom Liquid was the most worthwhile to study in the whole Venom Zombie, and he felt that explosion wouldn’t be its only use.

“Ten thousand times?”

“Yes, one milliliter of Venom Liquid diluted in one hundred liters of water and divided into bottles, each with five hundred milliliters, meaning the Venom Liquid content in each bottle is only five micro-liters, ensuring safety!”

Fu Weijun gestured passionately, almost standing up.

“If we can ensure that the diluted Venom Liquid doesn’t explode, we’ll adopt your method. Actually, I really want to support your research—don’t worry, I’ll get someone to handle it tomorrow.”

Zhang Su patted Fu Weijun earnestly on the shoulder.

“Mr. Zhang, why wait until tomorrow? Let’s verify it now.”

Unable to wait, Fu Weijun pulled a decorated needle from his bag, implying they should try dissolving a little in water.

Zhang Su thought this guy was too enthusiastic and overly eager, but if there were indeed any progress, it would be a good thing, so he agreed to the request.

To be safe, Fu Weijun used a dropper to draw one milliliter of Venom Liquid, then dipped a little with the needle, hard to notice any loss on the scale, estimated about ten micro-liters, and then rinsed the needle tip in a mineral water bottle.

Zhang Su originally thought nothing would be visible, but to his surprise, when the needle was stirred at the bottle’s mouth, the entire bottle of water emitted a faint purple color, like the effect of squeezing a mulberry into water.

“Wow, beautiful.”

Duan Wuhu bent down to look at the bottle of water, clicking his tongue in wonder.

“This thing… Dr. Fu, don’t you dare drink it, I’m telling you!”

Seeing the change in water color and Fu Weijun’s eager look, Zhang Su quickly warned him. Based on the things he had done before, he might actually, in a moment of heat, tilt his head back and down it!

“Rest assured, Mr. Zhang, I understand the value of life.”

Fu Weijun answered seriously.

Zhang Su didn’t quite believe his assurance, giving Duan Wuhu a look, meaning to keep an eye on him.

Subsequently, they cautiously performed a detonation test on the purple water, proving that neither a fuse nor open flame could ignite it, meaning the diluted Venom Liquid lost its explosive effect!

“Seems indeed safe, so… Dr. Fu, is this bottle enough for you?”

Zhang Su securely twisted the cap on the mineral water bottle for Fu Weijun.

“It’s enough. Once finished, I’ll apply for more from you; I won’t see you out, Mr. Zhang.”

Fu Weijun took the bottle, ready to start his research.

“Alright, then I’ll take off first. You should rest early too, don’t stay up too late.”

Zhang Su walked out of the laboratory, feeling like carrying about thirty tons of TNT, and just as he reached downstairs, he heard a voice from above.

“What are you looking for, Weijun? Let me help.”

“I put the Venom Liquid container taken from the Zombie’s head somewhere, like a crystal thing… there should still be some residue inside, too precious to waste. I need to find it and remove it! Found it… haha!”

Upon hearing Fu Weijun’s knowing smile, Zhang Su’s mouth twitched, not expecting him to have another trick up his sleeve. Initially planning to brazenly retrieve it, he dismissed the idea after hearing the latter part.

“No more! No worries, flushing it with water might yield some residual liquid. Brother Duan, please get a ziplock bag from over there to take back with us.”

“You’re taking it back again? No way, we’ll do it here and return after.”

“Sure, then please find some mineral water bottles.”

“That’s easy!”

Hearing Duan Wuhu about to come out, Zhang Su quickly walked downstairs, heading towards Little Lucky Inn, when he suddenly heard a faint sound from Su Xiaoya’s direction—a gentle voice emerging from her humming out of boredom.

“Sigh…”

Zhang Su sighed lightly, recalling the critical moments during the shootout with Kuanzhuang, with no time to hesitate, and now memories of Su Xiaoya’s sister, Su Lei, resurfaced, the fragments of times together ebbing into his mind.

Thinking of this, Zhang Su turned toward the room where Su Xiaoya was held.

Retrieving the key from the doorframe, he unlocked the door, knocked twice, and pushed it open, seeing Su Xiaoya sitting cross-legged on the bed covered with a blanket, a small nightlight providing dim illumination. Someone had even brought her a box of Gomoku, which she was playing with herself.

“What were you guys doing just now, such a loud noise, even the window shook…”

Su Xiaoya’s room could be described as cold, but the temperature would gradually rise since all of West Camp Village’s people were arranged in this inn, naturally with the heating on.

“We were testing a bomb’s power.”

Zhang Su said casually, then sat on the edge of the bed.

“So, any gains today? Did you connect with Uncle Lei? When are they planning to come and exchange me back?”

Su Xiaoya began to pack away the Gomoku, asking seemingly nonchalantly.

“Today, we went to the Cyan Dragon Corps headquarters, and inside the camp, we ran into the team led by Lei Youliang.”

Zhang Su picked up a piece that had fallen on the bed, playing with it in his hand, speaking slowly.

Su Xiaoya seemed to sense something was amiss, and nervously said, “That… that’s great, running into them is great, a perfect cooperation, right? Didn’t you originally intend to cooperate?”

“Indeed, my intention was to cooperate, but Lei Youliang had different plans.” In the pitch black surroundings, Zhang Su saw Su Xiaoya pursing her lips tightly, already realizing the seriousness of the matter, continuing,

“When we and another group were clearing the camp’s Zombies, Lei Youliang secretly took his men inside, took over the armory, and when we entered, Lei Youliang had no intention of cooperating. Right in front of me, he tried to enlist the other group and aimed to eliminate us!”

Squeak.

Zhang Su heard the sound of fingers clutching the blanket, saw Su Xiaoya tightly clenching the quilt, her expression extremely serious, tears starting to well up in her eyes.

“At that moment, I only asked Lei Youliang one question; I said, Su Xiaoya is still on Celestial Horse Island, do you really want to go to war with us?”

“What did… what did Uncle Lei say?”

Su Xiaoya finally spoke, her tone light, as if afraid of disturbing something.
