The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse

Many still don’t grasp the unbelievable legend of the Shadowless Assassin—not that they can be blamed. Her existence is shrouded in mystery.

Of course, everyone is aware that the Shadowless Assassin is from the Shadowless Demon Tribe. However, that is all they know about her. Aside from her parent, nobody else knew who she truly was.

Many claim she was one with the shadows from birth. Some say she hid her identity and remained in the shadows, training and plotting until she was strong enough to move around.

However, the truth is far from that.

The Shadowless Demon Tribe is a tribe where everyone’s shadow can move on its own. It’s a bizarre race that many simply don’t understand.

However, they are indeed “shadowless,” as some send their shadows to do things for them while they laze around.

And since every last shadowless demon becomes an assassin, they don’t have to be there in person to kill their prey.

But there is a catch to how far their shadows can go. It was said that the strongest of them, the immortal-stage chief of their tribe, could send his shadow 100,000 km away.

That was the farthest a shadow could go, and according to what many know, one person can have only one shadow.

Of course, some rare geniuses can have more shadows, but that is the most significant number a person can have.

…until the one known as the Shadowless Assassin was born.

She came with two shadows, and unlike everyone else, her shadows were the true forms of independent shadows.

Of course, they can’t talk to others, but they can talk to their real body and even travel millions of miles from their body.

But that was just the start.

As time went by, her shadows became even more independent, to the point where they could cultivate on their own and handle missions with little to no interference from their main body.

Soon, they began comprehending the laws independently and even formed immortal bodies. This, of course, made the shadowless assassin even more lethal. Soon, she was being followed by five shadows…

Her existence was just crazy.

One person, with five shadows, moved through the shadows, and for thousands of years, they never failed a hit.

Every name given to them was a successful assassination until the name of a Paragon appeared. That was the first time the Nameless Assassin felt the thrill of the hunt.

With her and her five shadows as the hunters, they were nearly impossible to stop. They spent years playing hide and seek with the Paragon, not because they feared him…

The Paragon feared them, so he was on the run for 100 years. This was the first time everyone knew that paragons are not omnipotent; they are just crazy.

The Shadowless assassin lowered the cloak of invisibility that all paragons had around them, and that alone made her name go down in history as the greatest assassin to have ever lived.

However, her ending was not as one would have expected. The hunter became the lover and soon the loyal wife, who then became the hunter for the Paragon, who was already feared by the whole universe…

It was said that at her peak, she was nearly unstoppable because her five shadows were impossible to go against. She was the true definition of a horror in a beautiful demoness form.

Five shadows were the total number of shadows that followed her…

One could use the power of time,

The second could harness the power of space.

The third could use the power of the Void.

The fourth could use the power of Darkness.

And the fifth could harness the power of chaos.

The five strongest shadows to have ever lived. Their existence cannot be explained, and to this day, many are still trying to understand them…

Nia just stood there, looking at the tribulation cloud calmly. Her time had come to face her tribulation, yet she stood there as if she weren’t the one involved in it.

However, five minutes later, a powerful lightning bolt fell from the thick clouds, seeming to want to stop her at all costs.

The menacing bolt pierced through the air and landed where she stood.

But she didn’t move. She let the thick, dark, and twisted lightning strike her, vaporizing her completely.

This caused her sisters to gasp in shock.

They wondered if she had just died like that. The lightning bolt was enough to vaporise a Sovereign, so they knew she was in trouble.

However, the next second, Nia appeared again, this time with a small smile playing on her lips.

“It worked,” she muttered.

Though the lightning and thunder crackling in the clouds were loud and ear-piercing, her sisters heard what she said, causing them to pale.

“Did she just say it worked?” they wondered.

“Does that mean she wasn’t sure it would work?” Queenie asked. Anna and Lucy exchanged puzzled and shocked expressions.

“This crazy bitch, did she even think about how we would feel before nearly giving us a heart attack?” Lucy clenched her fist, wiping tears from her eyes.

Nia, who knew what was happening, just smiled and let the second bolt vaporize her. Yet again, she rose from the shadows like a phoenix.

The third, fourth, fifth, and sixth bolts came, but she didn’t even pay attention to her defense, since she was dying yet coming back like she and the death had agreed on her not dying…

One had to give it to the heavens.

The fact that they couldn’t do anything to her simply because she was using shadow spawn to trick them was enough to show how powerful her bloodline had been tempered, thanks to Klaus’s Star Monarch blood.

In the past, she wouldn’t have been able to use it even against those three realms higher than her. But now, an ability she used in the past to create safety nets before going on missions was now being used against the heavens.

The audacity in that.

Soon, the tribulation was over.

When her bloodline awakened, she gained two shadows that made her smile. When they manifested into humanoid form, their hair colors changed.

But they looked exactly like her. It was as if they were triplets born of the same mother and father.

“From today onwards, your name shall be Chronis, Shadow of Time,” Nia said to her green-haired shadow.

Then she turned to the one with blue hair. “And you shall be known as Axis, Shadow of Space.”

They nodded and then turned toward her sisters, smiling. The shadows did the same, making Queenie and her sisters unsure how to handle this sight.

However, Nia smiled and made her shadows move after her. They melded into the shadow and appeared behind Anna.

“Where are they?” Anna asked.

“BOOP.”

Nia tapped her shoulder, causing her to jump in fright. Anna couldn’t even sense her when she appeared behind it, which was frightening.

When Anna turned and saw Nia and her two shadows laughing, she couldn’t help but freeze all three in thick ice.

However, the next second, Nia and her shadows appeared again, this time before Anna and all three of her sisters, while the three ice blocks still stood behind them.

“What in the world?” Lucy, Queenie, and Anna shouted, watching this bizarre sight. Nia and her shadows, which were supposed to be frozen in ice, were now standing before them, yet they were still frozen in ice.

“How—” Queenie asked.

“Meet Chronis and Axis, my shadows,” Nia laughed.
