Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 716: Chapter 241: Hacker Discussion

Paradise Bird, Xiuyue, Ahong.

The three disciples of an old hacker.

Since the old hacker’s electronic ascension failed, the three have taken entirely different paths.

Paradise Bird chose revenge, and went big right from the start, directly exiling Cloud City, and is currently number one on the hacker wanted list.

Xiuyue chose to join Mother City, becoming a member of the ’Machine Consciousness Department,’ greatly trusted by superiors.

Ahong, a slacker shut-in, not much needs to be said about him.

When Gao Gong appeared, indeed, both the furious Paradise Bird and the amused Xiuyue’s expressions changed, especially Xiuyue, who immediately stood up, looking respectful.

Gao Gong’s identity is no longer what it once was; aside from being the founder of Du Gao Technology, his sheer strength commands respect anywhere.

Gao Gong glanced around, ignoring the two, and instead looked at Ahong:

”Since when did the lounge turn into a disco?”

”What else can you do, surely you know what hackers are like. Expecting them to behave is like expecting them to turn themselves in faster.”

Ahong shrugged and said:

”I personally suggest you find something for them to do, or they’ll stir up trouble sooner or later.”

Gao Gong raised an eyebrow, didn’t speak, but sat on the sofa, gesturing for the other two to sit.

He looked at the man with a delicate face:

”While we haven’t met, we’ve interacted. You’re Xiuyue, right?”

”Mr. G, we interacted once while capturing the fifth version of ’Mother of Data,’ though we were not on the same side then,” Xiuyue said with a smile.

”Do you have any requests this time?” Gao Gong glanced at Paradise Bird again, ”Or are you genuinely just catching up with fellow disciples?”

”I actually had planned to visit you long ago, but got delayed by petty matters,” Xiuyue’s posture was quite humble, somewhat unusual.

”However, this time, I’ve come under the director’s orders, to inquire about those three elders, whose contact we’ve lost.”

Xuanyuan X, Elder Wanwei, and Waters, these three who succeeded in electronic ascension, might not be well-known outside, but within the Six Ministries, they are powerful figures.

If not for the future of cyber hackers, they might not have bothered to get involved personally.

But Old Ma stumbled and met his end.

Gao Gong pondered for a moment and briefly explained the chase about the ’war’, omitting the Destruction Form, with nothing else to hide.

After speaking, the three hackers were stunned.

Paradise Bird, ignoring conflicts with the second disciple, incredulously asked:

”Are you saying ’War’ ascended to become the ’Planet Host,’ becoming the fourth Mother City?”

”Yes.”

Gao Gong nodded.

Xiuyue couldn’t maintain his previous posture, his smile froze: ”That’s certainly surprising news.”

Ahong didn’t speak, his mouth wide open, drool dripping unknowingly.

Unless part of the Cyber Test Field, it’s hard to imagine the significance of the words ’Mother City.’

It represents a terrifying presence capable of overthrowing civilization and ushering in the Cyber Era.

Everyone fears them, yet everyone worships them.

And now, that terrifying presence has gained another member.

Xiuyue stood up again, taking a deep breath, said: ”Sorry, Mr. G, I must return to the department immediately, the news you’ve given me is too shocking.”

He hesitated, then said to Gao Gong:

”I’ve heard rumors in the department that you may soon come to Mother City.”

”To Mother City?”

Gao Gong asked back.

”Do you think Du Gao Technology will become the winner in this ’Electronic Brain Plan’?”

Xiuyue thought for a moment, shook his head, and gave a courteous smile.

”It’s hard to say now, but if the news is true, then we have many days of interaction ahead; at that time, considering our mutual background, I hope you take care of us.”

Xiuyue quickly disappeared at the door.

Gao Gong recalled, looking at Ahong, said: ”I remember, half a month ago you told me your second senior brother wanted to visit me, right?”

”Yes,” Ahong nodded, sneaked a glance at Paradise Bird, who could have known such a coincidence, that second brother arrived when the big sister was there, the scene was beautiful—and thankfully this master arrived in time, otherwise, the bar might’ve been demolished.

”So it seems he didn’t want to visit me for this matter.”

Gao Gong thought of the other’s strange tone, feeling there was a hint of holding back.

Paradise Bird, with a sullen face, said: ”This kid never acts without gain, his visit must be with some scheme against you, be careful!”

Ahong opened his mouth but didn’t dare to contradict his senior sister, so he changed the topic.

”Did that terrifying creator ’War’ really become the new ’Planet Host’?”

”Yes, and it will act soon.”

Although Gao Gong didn’t say how ’War’ would act.

But without a doubt, the terror of a host, everyone is well aware.

”The world is going to fall into chaos!”

Ahong murmured.

Gao Gong’s lips curled slightly; this is just the beginning. When the Cyber Tide fully unfolds, you’ll witness what true chaos really means.

’Memory Loss’, ’Personality Reset’, ’Neurotheft’, ’Conceptual Parasite’, ’Pheromone Virus’, ’Ancient Biological War’, ’Turing’s Eastern Expedition’, ’Electronic Brain Graveyard’, ’Bionic Revolution’

These Cyber Waves aren’t triggered one after another.

No order, no gaps, no rest.

Even you yourself are likely to become one of the monsters.

Paradise Bird could no longer bother with the grudge against Xiuyue but frowned, contemplating reality.

”With those three elders gone, these hackers are definitely going to go wild. Who will keep them in check?”

Normal people cannot become hackers; only the twisted can.

Like Paradise Bird, Xiuyue, Ahong, due to their past teachings by Old Hei, an old hacker from the Civilization Era, who was conservative with a relatively normal style. As for other hackers, they’re entirely different; they can establish dozens of ’self-personalities’ to battle each other, their self-control is negative, meaning they couldn’t even control themselves.

Initially, there were three veteran hacker ancestors to keep things in line, and no one dared to act recklessly.

But just two days after the veteran hackers left, bars turned into discotheques.

No one knows what it’ll turn into in another two days.

Gao Gong considered this possibility and suddenly felt a headache.

Hackers have always been a double-edged sword; they can harm others and also self-destruct.

’Actually, if a strong figure were to suppress them, my sister—’

The three hacker ancestors are Tier 3 Information Species; my sister is one too. They have ’GM Authority’; my sister has ’Backdoor Technology’, and after absorbing No. 13, she’s further advanced.

But as soon as this idea came up, Gao Gong decisively dismissed it.

With Gao Yuanyuan’s gentle personality, controlling people is out of the question. If others speak a few words, she might tear up, let alone hackers with twisted personalities.

This is no different from throwing a sheep into a wolf’s den.

This has nothing to do with strength; it’s entirely personality that determines fate.

But if it’s another sister, no, it should be ’Social Elder Sister’ Gox; she might be suitable for this scene.

”If nothing works, just let them out,” Gao Gong touched his chin.

”Anyway, it’s Corporate War now, plenty of opportunities, let them fight as they like, play however they want, just don’t act like hooligans here.”

”Wait, I know who to find to partner with them.”

...

Acting swiftly, the next day, when players came to the Research Association to pick up tasks, they were surprised to find an employment system added within the task publishing system, filled with exaggeratedly leveled ’hacker roles’.

”Whoa, what’s this, a task surprise?”

”Damn, only 1000 Mechanical Coins to hire a level 40 Super Hacker for the task partnership, are you kidding me!?”

”It’s too much of a bargain!”

The first batch of a hundred hacker slots were snatched up in almost a second by the players.

”Yes, got one!” ’Brother Glasses’ exclaimed excitedly.

This ’Brother Glasses’ was a Neural Editor, and a level 19 Neural Editor at that.

A Neural Editor of this level is quite awkward.

Do hacking tasks, but can’t match the proper Cyber Hacker.

Do corporate-level data protection, but no one wants you—who knows if you’re a Business Spy, since wars are happening now, the Brain-Machine Virus is everywhere.

So, the unfortunate ’Brother Glasses’ could only take on odd jobs to scrape together some equipment upgrade experience.

He never thought he’d grab a powerful ’NPC’ pet.

Soon, a stout man two meters tall came out, each muscle on him seemed like a stubborn stone, and the data fluctuations he emitted seemed to sieve through it.

On the System Panel, over a dozen ’hacker invasion’ buffs were instantly displayed on him.

”You’re my partner?”

The man looked him up and down, suddenly spoke.

But the voice he uttered was a loli voice.

Cross-dresser, no no, male bigwig!

”I, I am,” Brother Glasses hurriedly said, feeling this npc’s strength surpassed all the npcs he’d seen!

Then, he found himself unable to move.

”Your strength is too weak,” the man said dismissively: ”So you’re just cannon fodder.”

The man walked ahead, and Brother Glasses followed him involuntarily, successfully hacked, completely becoming the other’s ’Electronic Pet’.

He was stunned for a moment, not only without feeling insulted but replaced by a strong excitement.

’Awesome, this game can even autopilot!’

Thus, soon, on game forums, the topic of ’hackers’ exploded.
