Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 713: Chapter 238: Inhibitor

Ethics is a moral system.

From the perspective of a civilization, ethics is the last line of defense, and is often the first to be breached.

In the universe, civilizations are as numerous as stars, with various types of intelligent species, various styles of technological systems, and even unimaginable advanced civilizations.

These existences will create irresistible temptation for some intelligent species.

Often, fortresses are breached from within.

For example, a certain Carbon-Based Civilization, inspired by an Advanced Civilization, first illuminated its industrial system, leading to an explosion in productivity. Then, it lit up human body transformation technology, spurring species’ mechanical evolution. Next, it developed brain modification technology, bringing about a burst of wisdom...

Ethical divergence +10%

Ethical divergence +20%

Ethical divergence +30%

Then, there was no ”then”.

It had been completely controlled by an advanced Mechanical Civilization, becoming a servant mechanical civilization.

Not a whisper as the swallow passed.

Killing without a trace.

Of course, in many cases, there is no so-called mastermind.

It’s just that civilization evolves and evolves, and somehow destroys itself in the process.

The technology tree doesn’t only have apples; there are also poisoned apples.

Some technological routes are simply not meant for your type of civilization to follow.

The Cosmic Civilization Council was established mainly to prevent two things.

One is civilization-level disasters, and the other is civilization-level ethical crises.

And in response to such ’ethical crises’.

’Ethical technology’ was born from necessity.

Illuminating this technology is like putting on a ’tightening spell’. Though uncomfortable at times, it can truly ward off monsters and demons at critical moments.

After Gao Gong introduced the concept of ’ethical technology’ to Professor Han.

Professor Han frowned and pondered for a moment.

”So, rather than calling it a thought steel seal, it’s more like a restrictor?”

”Pretty much, a large-scale restrictor that limits a certain impending crisis.”

Mecha technology has the potential to ignite ’Super Mechanical Body Frenzy’.

Meanwhile, Hunter Technology might spark ’slaughter mind’.

If biotechnology is developed to the extreme, it might even give rise to the ’Pan-Life Thought’, a strange operation that connects everyone’s lives together.

After entering the cosmos, Gao Gong didn’t worry about other civilizations performing ’technological evolution’ on him.

Because ’Fusion Civilization’ is quite powerful, it only evolves others, never letting itself be evolved by others.

Even though the insects of the Blade Queen are so ugly, aren’t there many servant civilizations engaging in ’Insect Nest Worship’ just the same?

However, Gao Gong worries that, much like ’rejection’, the Fusion Civilization itself is inherently unstable. Once it embarks on the civilization ascension path, its own people might be the ones to cause a major crisis.

Forewarned is forearmed; if not, you fail.

Being prepared in advance is very necessary.

Gao Gong is also curious whether the ’Civilization Panel’ can provide assistance in this regard.

”I think I understand,” Professor Han showed a thoughtful expression, ”In fact, signs of the ’ethical crisis’ you mentioned already appeared in the later empire period. With underground churches appearing one after another, many Mechanical Transformers began hunting civilians with biological components exceeding 50%, even including some pregnant women. They believed this reproductive method was shameful and evil. There were also some extreme Imperial Faction members who secretly promoted policies to erase everyone’s consciousness, turning the nation into a complete mechanical empire.”

Gao Gong nodded with lingering fear.

Back in the day, when he promoted virtual civilization ascension, there was a maid crisis. Many maids would chop at his head with a hatchet every now and then, trying to be forever together with Brother Cheng, no, Brother G.

Scared the life out of him.

”Well then, I entrust this matter to you.”

Professor Han nodded; doing such research work indeed requires confidentiality.

Ethical technology needs an independent development space.

”I will develop a product to reduce ’killing nature’ based on the technical data you provided.”

Professor Han said:

”I can sense that as ’biological chips’ get updated, some biological hunters look at people with a strange glint in their eyes.”

...

”Damn, it really works!”

At this moment, Baozi blinked and looked at the four players in front of him.

These four players were looking at him with a fanatical gaze.

The cracked version of commercial mind control technology had successfully been replicated onto the players.

”Boss, my admiration for you is like the surging river, continuous and endless, just like a galaxy flood, unable to be controlled.”

One player knelt immediately.

”Boss, let me polish your leather shoes with my tongue; please give me this opportunity.”

”Boss, I want to work; I want to work 40 hours a day!”

Baozi didn’t doubt that these four were conspiring to deceive him.

You must understand that players, even at level 1, can disdain level 40 high-end big players.

All thanks to their superb verbal skills.

This ingratiating tone, the adoring eyes, the crazy expressions.

Are absolutely not something a player can act out.

It took Baozi quite some effort to restrain these enthusiastic ’employees’ and tentatively asked:

”Do you still remember your identities?”

”Reporting to the boss, employee number 9527!”

”Reporting to the boss, employee number 3121!”

”Report to the boss, employee number 1234!”

”Report to the boss, employee number 4321!”

President Bao pondered for a moment and continued:

”Think again, do you have any other identities, such as—”

”The company is my home!”

”Pioneer and progress, dare to take responsibility, iron will, courageous to climb.”

”Yesterday, we were born to share; today, innovation makes us grow strong.”

President Bao: ”...”

He somewhat regretted buying the cheapest ’company brainwashing technology.’

Where are normal people, it’s all a freaking bunch of brain-dead folks.

Might as well be like those previous four fools.

President Bao stared at the four for a while, suddenly laughed aloud, obviously amused.

”I thought the soul games were already badass, but didn’t expect the game we’re playing now is even more badass, it’s actually a soulless game.”

”Forget it, forget it, you lie down first, and I’ll change you back.”

”Wait, let’s play another game.”

Not sure what devious idea came to him, President Bao chuckled and turned on the camera feature.

”You guys follow what I say first, then log off yourselves.”

These four players, although they didn’t know what ’log off’ meant, followed suit.

Soon, in a small group pulled by President Bao, the ’didi didi’ sound crazily echoed.

’Damn, Baozi, what did you do to us!?’

’Ahhhhh, my memory, my memory, who is going to erase my memory!’

’I actually have to lick Baozi’s shoes, no more talk, I’m off to cut my tongue.’

President Bao kept silent, but sent a video over.

The video contained all sorts of simp quotes that are so flattering towards President Bao, it seemed unlikely that normal people could think them up.

Then, a series of blood-spitting emojis appeared.

’What did I sell out for Baozi’s money!’

’The soul, it’s the soul!!’

’Baozi, you’re actually threatening us with a little video, what do you want to do [fear][fear][fear]’

President Bao chuckled.

’How about it, since you’ve already lost all shame, want to consider signing a long-term contract with us?’

...

Mother City, Xiao Family.

In a gene repair pool, the sound of bubbling ’gulu gulu’ kept echoing.

Advanced repair liquid continuously condensed into shapes of hands and feet, but every time it repairs to a certain extent, it would collapse in place.

After quite a while, a human figure stood up in the repair pool.

Xiao Yu.

At this moment, Xiao Yu was already very different from before, looking like his body had been splashed with concentrated sulfuric acid, with scars all over, the most severe being the left hand and right foot, which were empty and looked like they were amputated.

”According to the family’s physical examination report, your left hand and right leg were digested in a high-concentration information state, the information stream destroyed your human body system...”

”Get to the point, I remember you’re not such a long-winded person,” Xiao Yu said with a gloomy face.

”The family doesn’t have the technology to repair your body,” the big-breasted secretary paused and said, ”Not only does the family not have it, but this planet doesn’t have it either.”

”So there’s no way?”

”Perhaps the planet host’s internal data processor can unlock the information lock on you, reconstruct your human body system information, but—”

The secretary paused, the meaning was clear.

The planet host won’t open its database for him.

”Also, I heard some rumors within the family recently, the family’s elders seem to be selecting a new ’Omen Machine’ pilot.”

Xiao Yu frowned, on the edge of the pool, two streams of black liquid flowed down from the massive Omen Machine, climbing onto the severed stump with a sense of life, growing into new hands and feet.

”I brought the family so many victories, just this one defeat, and they want to take away my Omen Machine?”

Xiao Yu moved his black fingers.

”Do those old things think that missing some human body parts means I can’t fight?”

”But you’ve damaged the soul armor,” the big-breasted secretary said calmly, ”You know, that is the family’s foundation.”

Xiao Yu said without raising his head: ”Seems like my woman has also made a decision.”

The big-breasted secretary sighed, ”Step back, Xiao Yu, you’re still the family’s youngest Martial God.”

Xiao Yu looked up, a sinister smile appeared on his face as the flesh was peeled away.

The next moment, transparent worms crawled out from his skin, flesh, and bones.

The big-breasted secretary lowered her head incredulously, only then she realized there was also a transparent worm as thick as an arm in her belly.

”In this day and age, there are still people willing to believe in ’Thought Steel Seal,’ such old technology, evolution is everything!”

The worm split the belly open, crawled onto the human form that had already turned into a worm nest.

The sound of the secretary falling to the ground echoed.

Xiao Yu turned, from the wounds on his stumps, dense white maggots squeezed out, though extremely difficult, it’s not entirely unrepairable as the other side claimed.

”There was never such a thing as family, I was always just mother’s offspring.”

The maggot human form walked in the lead.

The Omen Machine followed behind.

Unbeknownst to when, transparent maggots also squeezed out on the surface of the Omen Machine.
