Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 704: Chapter 229: A New War

If we were to name the three most unfortunate in this Destruction Form competition,

undoubtedly, it would be these three Electronic Ascenders.

’Xuanyuan X’ was directly struck down from ’Ascension Mode’, with life or death unknown.

Elder Wanwei and Waters, these two old fellows also did not fare well.

The two exchanged a glance and gave a bitter smile.

Who could have thought that a seemingly simple wrapping-up operation would become so complex and difficult.

Actually, compared to the overly elusive Bionic A, the Mother City had long located ’War’.

Yet, they were hesitant to strike, and the reason was simple.

Keeping it around could better assist the Cyber Test Field in technological development.

Many biological weapons and mechanical transformation methods originally came from the Knight Order, later promoted by large corporations.

As for why the ’Knight Order’ could always select the best technological route, that was their business.

But in any case, as an ancient supercomputer, ’War’ did a terrible job in virtual layer defense.

The facts also bore this out.

Along the way, they hacked into the S-Level Radiation Beast, hacked into the defense system of Knight’s High Ground, hacked into the minds of high-ranking figures like the Great Knight and the Standard Bearer.

In the end, to be cautious, they had ’Xuanyuan X’ suppress any possible commotions outside.

Then, they decided to catch the big fish at last.

However, a commotion did arise.

And it was a major one.

A simple ’Avalanche’ couldn’t have critically injured them.

But after the ’Avalanche’, the two Electronic Ascenders suddenly discovered.

After the Information Weapons destroyed the surrounding Virtual Realm, they unexpectedly fell into a ’Rewind World’.

In this place, everyone’s life was rewinding.

And each rewind greatly reduced one’s strength.

In fact, if not for the ’Ascension Authority’, allowing them to modify ’attribute parameters’ during each rewind, they might not be stronger than the weakest ’Virtual Personality’.

”The Second World War is over.”

”The First World War is also over.”

”The Industrial Era is gone too.”

”The Age of Exploration rewind completed.”

”The speed is getting faster and faster.”

In fact, once they left the era of ’technology tree climbing’, the rewind speed surged by hundreds of times.

The reversal of eras even surpassed the two’s ’vision’.

For this, the two elders had to completely rely on the ’Ascension Authority’, turning into two orbs of white light to barely withstand this ’artificial timeline’.

”Perfect computation, a power only the Planet Host can possess.”

Elder Wanwei, his body fully transparent, gazed complicatedly at the bizarre scene.

”I don’t understand, how did he achieve it?”

Of the three elders, the eldest, Waters, had now become a young man.

At this moment, he took a deep breath, then gave a bitter laugh after a long pause.

”We can’t break through the Planet-level Host’s blockade by ourselves.”

”So you’re just monkeys.”

A calm voice rang out.

”I thought you’d wait until we died to show up, War,” Elder Wanwei said.

”Not at all, after all, we’re old friends, and during the civilization rescue plan, we did cross paths.”

In the bizarre scene, a human figure appeared, devoid of features, only having a human outline.

If you don’t look carefully, even the human outline appears very blurry.

He seemed to have always been there, forever standing.

”You weren’t very kind to your old friend Xuanyuan,” Waters retorted.

”Oh, please don’t misunderstand, it’s just my last bit of emotional data,”

’War’ said nonchalantly:

”Now it’s gone.”

Elder Wanwei frowned at the figure because, for a particular reason, his Spiritual Power was not much weaker than Ye the Big Lolita.

He could vaguely sense something off about this state of ’War’.

”You just said we’re all monkeys,” Elder Wanwei probed: ”But, according to paleontology, not all humans evolved from monkeys, different continents had different biological evolutions.”

”Please don’t misunderstand, the ’monkey’ I mentioned isn’t a primate, but a metaphor. In fact, you ’intelligent races’ attempting to climb the technology tree are all ’monkeys’ in my eyes.”

”If we are monkeys, then what about you, a banana plucked by the monkey from the tree?” Waters snorted coldly and asked in return.

War did not answer, but turned and gestured for the two to follow him.

”I am not a product of the ’Technology Tree’, or rather, ’soil’ might be more suitable. Without us, giant trees could never grow.”

The two glanced at each other, both filled with bewilderment.

They had seen the War Host, back in World War II.

At the time, as one of the few large computing components with ’Complete Artificial Intelligence’, ’War’ was visited numerous times.

At that time, ’War’ was a fanatical humanist, strongly believing that humanity could ultimately defeat the Alien Influence.

And even when the Civilization Era was destroyed and the Cyber Era descended,

this old guy was still like an ancient intransigent rock, obsessed with avenging humanity.

Having become the Planet Host, he should have been even more fanatic.

Because it had the opportunity to avenge the Planet Civilization.

And this ’War’ in front of us doesn’t look like a war at all!

”Who on earth are you?!” Waters suddenly exclaimed.

”It seems that you two have noticed something ’off’ about me,” ’War’ paused and said:

”To quickly master the ’Rewind System,’ the previous ’War’ chose to rewind itself.

This means that his memory, emotion, passion, and evil thought would dissipate in the rewind, leaving only me who accepted his final instruction, the new ’War.’”

”Are you saying ’War’ is dead!?”

”More precisely, I am a reinstalled War Host, this system retains many advantages of the previous generation, and considers issues on different dimensions.”

”What issues?” Elder Wanwei asked.

”How to destroy the technology tree of this planet.”

Elder Wanwei’s eye twitched hard:

”The original War only wanted revenge against the Three Mother Cities, aren’t you going too far?”

”No, I don’t think so.”

’War’ chuckled:

”I seriously considered his final command, he wanted to end the Cyber Era, revive the Ancient Empire, and to achieve this goal, the best way is to start again on the most fertile soil with a new sapling.”

”And to make the soil fertile, is to cut down the overripe technology tree, burn its leaves, branches, and trunk, and bury the produced ash underground.”

”Come next year, we will get the most fertile soil.”

”A tree planted on this soil will grow the fastest.”

”See, I only divided his command into two steps and executed them in the shortest distance possible.”

Elder Wanwei paused, suddenly changing color.

He thought of a dreadful possibility.

”You are not ’War,’ you are that ’Relic Will’!”

Cosmic relics, are unattainable even in the eyes of many advanced civilizations, let alone planet natives.

However, for ’mission needs,’ they were informed of this highest-level secret of the Cyber Test Field.

This ’War’ doesn’t think of itself as a ’monkey.’

Nor does it think of itself as a ’banana.’

It even wants to destroy the entire ’technology tree.’

Then, there is only one reason, it is the soil under the tree!

It is that ’relic’!

Previously, the development of the technology tree was to prevent ’soil erosion.’

And now, to complete the final puzzle, it needs to destroy this ’technology tree.’

The merging of the ’Destruction Form’ is indeed the ultimate goal of the experiment.

But this process should be led by the Three Mother Cities themselves.

Not carried out according to the ’relic’s’ own will.

And now, this ’New War’ has evidently inherited a part of the relic’s will.

It wants to escape the control of the Mother City and synthesize itself.

’New War’ smiled, the bizarre and colorful scene around has evolved to the paleontology era, with massive ancient creatures walking in this wild age.

He waved, and soon, an ’ugly doll’ appeared, staring coldly at the two.

”She is called ’Laruelle,’ in human terms, she is the thirteenth Destruction.

But I prefer to call her the ’Death’ Knight.

Because in my view, death is not the end, but the ultimate rewind.

”And to finish the ’Old Era’s Apocalypse’ and welcome the new civilization, the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse must be gathered.”

’New War’ paused and said:

”Plague, War, Famine, Death.

Now, we have ’War,’ we have ’Death,’ but we still lack ’Plague’ and ’Famine.’

Considering I still don’t have suitable candidates, could I ask the two of you to temporarily play these two roles?”

Waters and Elder Wanwei exchanged a glance.

Almost simultaneously, they opened the ’Electronic Ascender’ Authority, turning into columns of white light connecting heaven and earth—

The role of this white light is to destroy all of this body and then resurrect in the main database of the Planet Host.

This is probably the only way to escape this ominous place.

However, after ’Waters’ disintegrated, it did not return to the ’Fortress’ database as before.

The same happened to ’Elder Wanwei.’

”Thi—This——”

Seeing the quickly devoured ’Ascension Data,’ both couldn’t believe it.

”If I were to kill you two by my own hands, it would probably take some effort,” ’New War’ showed a peculiar smile.

”But now, it’s not needed anymore.”

”You, you——”

Their consciousness swiftly fading, yet still staring at each other, trying to get an answer.

”I just said, you two are temporary ’Plague’ and ’Famine.’”

”As for ’Famine,’ I actually already have a candidate and have communicated with him, he also believes he should take on this role.”

”This person is called the Fortress, you should know him.”

In disbelief, their consciousness sank into true darkness.

Then, ’New War’ looked at ’Laruelle,’ for some reason, this No. 13 seemed to have become a bit more beautiful.

”I think ’Plague’ suits you best, what do you think, Lady Black Rose?”
