Blacksmith of the Apocalypse

Chapter 1340: Look at their reaction!

~Look at you! Look at their reaction! Do you still think itʼs so important what your status says?~ Seth asked using telepathy, as his words and laughter were swallowed by the roaring winds. Tatzel naturally emitted the aura of a dragon and was recognized as such by anyone who saw him.

~You already are a dragon. You donʼt need the system telling you that you are one. But now we should get away quickly before the prank goes too far.~ Seth added the last part when he saw the adventurers in the city below mobilizing.

The next moment, Seth was jerked back and almost lost his grip, as Tatzel accelerated. With a blink, the had already passed the barrier of Woeburn and left the city far behind them. A least them passing the barrier without any problem would help calm the commotion in the city, as it proved they were just a registered adventurer and his pet.

The map of the Holy Land had not changed much, except that the territory of the dragonnewts had grown a little, claiming the eastern plateaus of the the canyon. As they flew there, Seth did not appreciate the view of the landscape below.

As his hands slid along the neck, his attention was caught by Tatzelʼs big, black scales, which were already the same size as the relic-rated scales of the Sky Dragon Tydis. However, Tatzelʼs scales seemed to have a much deeper luster.

The blacksmith couldnʼt appraise them, since they were still part of Tatzel, but he didnʼt intend to harvest materials from his own pets anyway. It just made him muse about the differences in legend and Tatzelʼs future standing among dragons.

~So, why are we going to assassinate the leader of the dragonnewts?” Tatzel asked as the landscape below zoomed by. Their flight was pretty calm, as nothing on the surface of the Holy Land dared to raise its head when feeling Tatzelʼs presence.

~Right, i didnʼt tell you yet. Iʼm going to ask Fin to marry me together with Mina, so Iʼm preparing my engagement ring,~ the blacksmith explained telepathically. ~Well, Itʼs more of an engagement set, but it ha two rings.~ he added.

Tatzel stayed silent for a moment and Seth felt like could hear the gears grind in the Imugiʼs head.

~Sooo, I will have two dads then?~ the snakelet suddenly asked.

“What the...” Seth exclaimed, but tried to comprehend how Tatzel came to this conclusion. ~ No. Fin and Mina will also be your Moms.~ he said after concluding, that Tatzel was flipping gender roles, because he, as a man, was his Mom.

~But dad said it was okay to call her dad. Why are dad and Fin now both moms? Having more than one Mom doesnʼt seem right.~ the reptile argued puzzled. Seth clicked his tongue, silently lamenting Minaʼs jokes.

~Donʼt listen to Mina, sheʼs your second Mom, and Fin will be the third. Itʼs okay to have more than one Mom~ the blacksmith insisted, feeling tired from the mental gymnastics.

~If Mom says so... but you will always be my true Mom!~ Tatzel insisted.

~That is okay.~ Seth said, relieved that they came to a conclusion.

~ I think this is the place!~ Tatzel informed him shortly after. It seemed like they had reached their destination during the conversation. Below them were the eastern plains, the territory of the dragon newts.

Although the Holy Land was surrounded by a terrifying snowstorm, connected to the Border Storm further north, the climate in the eye of this storm was relatively moderate. As such, the plains below them were a sparsely wooded grassland, instead of a tundra or ice desert.

Unauthorized duplication: this narrative has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

Since Tatzel was quick, barely a few minutes had passed between entering the airspace of this terrain to reaching the heart region, where the main stronghold of the newts was situated. Built into the cliffs of a mountain at the edge of the canyon was a fortified village.

The mix of fortress elements and houses, stuck to the rugged rock walls actually looked quite idyllic. They really built a homely place for themselves. From Bryce, he knew that this settlement was built into the mountain by expanding a natural cave that became the main dungeon of the dragon newts

~Alright then, Tatzel. It would be best if you went into the pet space now, before we alarm the whole place.~ The blacksmith instructed the pseudo-dragon, and Tatzel was called back into the pet space, leaving the blacksmith to float to the ground, using feather fall.

Using the time of his fall, Seth equipped the Helm of Hades, vanishing from sight midair. If he rode too close to Tatzel, the dragonnewts would have known something was up, making it harder to move as an invisible man among them.

Landing in a small group of trees. Seth started his solo mission to assassinate the chieftain. However, having owned the Helm of Hades for a while, Seth had long since dropped any fantasies about sneaky stealth missions. He was no assassin or thief and didnʼt act like one.

The Helm erased everything about him, presence, sound, sight, not even gods were supposed to be able to track him like that. The only thing he wasnʼt, was intangible. This meant that there was no need for him to crouch, sneak and hide like secret agents in movies, he simply walked into the place.

The only thing he had to be careful of was touching something. The helmetʼs power didnʼt extend to man-sized holes in a crowd, people being shoved by nobody, doors spookily opening on their own, or moving items in general.

But as he was otherwise imperceptible, he simply walked into the fortress, past the lv.93 Dragonnewt Guards and onto the streets of their little fortress. Now came the real problem, finding Pithra in this place.

Although Seth could rely on the mini-map for places he had been to, he had not been here before, so there was no advantage. The village part, where the dragonnewts spent their day, was of no interest to him, so he entered the anthill inside the mountain.

What he found inside were tunnels and hallways, as well as caves with houses built inside. Although he called it a village, there was no civilian live, all monsters he saw were soldiers and warriors in their every day live.

The blacksmith didnʼt use

as it could betray his presence, but the beasts didnʼt feel too different from the ones he had met in the dungeon the last time. Since they couldnʼt keep their place in the abyss, they probably averaged around lv.80. They were lucky his grudge had calmed since then.

Seth explored the hallways and caves for a while until he found a lead of where to go. At some point he noticed that the crude settlement built into a natural cave had transitioned into a dungeon, without any great noticeable change.

The walls carved from the rock were cleaner and straighter, covered in crude paintings and carvings. Following a hunch, the blacksmith simply followed the number of decorations. The place that was decorated more luxuriously had to be close to their seat of power, no?

Whether that was true or not, Seth managed to get on the right track, as he soon stood in front of a huge gate that had six giant dragonnewts guarding it. Their aura was different from the ordinary mobs walking around in the rest of the dungeon.

He still didnʼt appraise them, but they were at least as strong as the dragonnewt dungeon boss Seth got the Lesser Firedragonʼs Toenail from, which meant they had to be in the mid to late 90s. This was the perfect chance to try something he had wanted to do since entering the dungeon.

Hidden thanks to the Helm of Hades, the blacksmith could simply step toward the first one on the far left. The invisible arm stretched outward and simply touched the massive warrior on the arm, holding a massive, crude, halberd in front of him.

At the slightest touch, all tension left the disciplined warrior body. The blacksmith didnʼt watch the halberd slowly slip from his hands, as his body followed it to fall to the ground. by the time the halberd hit the ground with a lot clank, it was joined by the sounds of 5 more hitting the ground.

The next moment, all six bodies vanished into the blacksmithʼs inventory. Since they were dead, they became materials. Just like the six souls he had just harvested with

max.lvl perk “Soul Robbery”.
