Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce

’The eldest son of the Vance family?’

’The one who gave the speech on stage earlier?’

Chloe Reed’s expression went blank for a moment. She had been so distracted by all the earlier chaos that she hadn’t even remembered what he looked like.

”Hello, my name is Chloe Reed.”

She quickly came to her senses and awkwardly extended her hand.

Preston Vance reached out, gave her hand a light shake, and then politely withdrew it. With a slightly raised eyebrow, he said, ”I am the guest of honor tonight, am I not? And yet, someone still doesn’t recognize me.”

Chloe Reed was mortified. ”Sorry, I...”

”Miss Reed, thank you so much,” Preston Vance said, standing up. His eyes behind his glasses watched her with uncommon sincerity. ”If it weren’t for you, I might have died here without anyone knowing.”

Chloe Reed was taken aback. ”It-it wasn’t that dramatic. You’re out now. Someone would have definitely gotten worried when they couldn’t find you.”

”Perhaps.” Preston Vance took out his business card. ”Miss Reed, if you ever need anything, please don’t hesitate to contact me.”

Her showing up to help him meant he now owed her a huge favor.

Chloe Reed’s slender fingers held the business card. She lowered her gaze, pondering for a moment before suddenly saying, ”Actually, there is one thing.”

Preston Vance nodded. ”Go ahead.”

So, Chloe Reed explained her idea of collaborating with the Vance Group.

Preston Vance nodded, then looked at Ian Spencer and said, ”Follow up on this. Pick a suitable project for a collaboration with the Reed Group.”

Ian Spencer replied, ”Yes, Mr. Vance.”

Chloe Reed was stunned. ’I thought he would at least need to think it over!’

She asked hesitantly, ”Aren’t... aren’t you going to think about it more carefully?”

But Preston Vance simply smiled and shook his head. ”No need. I have complete faith in the person who saved my life.”

For a moment, Chloe Reed didn’t know how to react.

Preston Vance looked at her gently as he extended the invitation. ”You came to the second floor to discuss a collaboration with the Vance Group, right? Now that you’ve achieved your goal, may I ask if you’re free? I’d like to treat you to a meal.”

Chloe Reed nodded. ”I am.”

Preston Vance looked to Ian Spencer. ”Make the arrangements.”

”Yes.”

Ian Spencer left at once to handle it.

Preston Vance said, ”Please, have a seat for a moment. Perhaps you could tell me a bit more about the Reed Group.”

’Well, this is awkward.’

’I haven’t prepared anything at all!’

She had come here on a whim, and now, faced with this situation, she was incredibly embarrassed.

Her long lashes fluttered as she said, ”Mr. Vance, to be perfectly honest, I don’t actually work for the Reed Group. I came here today just to try my luck.”

Preston Vance’s expression showed his understanding. He smiled and said, ”In that case, you’re very lucky today. As am I.”

He had a gentle and courteous demeanor, always poised and measured. He would occasionally crack a small joke, which put people at ease and dispelled any awkwardness.

He completely lacked the high-and-mighty arrogance typical of those in power.

Chloe Reed gradually began to relax and started chatting casually with him.

「Inside the private room.」

Ivy Vance kept sneaking glances at Walker Grant, who sat on the sofa. The man’s features were sharp and handsome, his phoenix eyes dark and deep, and his entire aura was cold and domineering.

It was so quiet she could almost hear her own heart beating.

They had been in the room for an hour and a half, but Preston Vance still hadn’t shown up.

Sunny Reed couldn’t wait any longer and asked, ”Miss Vance, where did Mr. Vance go? Did he leave early?”

Ivy Vance replied, ”I’ve already sent someone to look for him. He should be back soon.”

As soon as she finished speaking, the door to the room opened. The person she had sent out returned, leaned in, and whispered in her ear, ”Mr. Vance is on the balcony chatting with a lady. I tried to go over and ask him to return, but a bodyguard stopped me.”
