Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce

Did she truly like him?

Or did she like the ”him” she had rescued all those years ago?

...

Around noon, Chloe Reed received a call from Selene Adler.

The two arranged to meet at the coffee shop across from the company.

Upon seeing her, Selene Adler said directly, ”Mrs. Grant, I’ve been fired.”

Chloe Reed frowned. She hadn’t expected her to be fired so quickly.

Selene Adler looked at her suspiciously. ”Do you not want to get a divorce after all?”

”I do,” Chloe Reed said bluntly. ”But there’s nothing I can do about him firing you.”

Selene Adler frowned. ”Then how am I supposed to get close to him?”

She couldn’t help but feel a little resentful toward Chloe Reed.

’If only Chloe Reed hadn’t called her last night.’

’She could have stayed by Walker Grant’s side as his secretary, let him see her capabilities, and then slowly worked her way into his life.’

’Her sudden appearance last night ruined the plan.’

Selene Adler leaned back and said, ”Mrs. Grant, you were the one who brought me here. Now you have to find a solution for this.”

Her attitude had become somewhat arrogant.

Chloe Reed raised an eyebrow slightly, then said, ”You’ve been by his side for a while now. Has your relationship gotten any closer? Have you ever gone out with him alone for a business dinner?”

Selene Adler’s gaze flickered. ”I... I’m just a new secretary. Mr. Grant would never take me to an important business dinner.”

”You’ve never even attended a business dinner with him, and now you’re blaming me for ruining your plan?” Chloe Reed called her out. ”I gave you an opportunity, but you’re useless.”

Selene Adler flew into a rage out of humiliation. ”Chloe Reed, what do you mean by that?!”

”I don’t mean anything.” Chloe Reed’s expression was indifferent. ”I want a divorce, and you want to seduce Walker Grant. We’re supposed to be partners, not people who blame each other and shirk responsibility at the first sign of failure. If you expect me to deliver Walker Grant to your bed, then I’m sorry, but if you won’t even try to feed yourself, can you really expect someone to spoon-feed you?”

After she finished speaking, she got up and walked away.

”You!”

Selene Adler’s face turned ashen with anger.

’Every single word from Chloe Reed had called her incompetent.’

’But was Walker Grant the kind of man just any woman could get close to?’

’Did she think everyone was like her, able to conquer Walker Grant so early on?!’

’It was infuriating!’

Selene Adler immediately called Judith Pierce and told her what had happened.

Judith Pierce said, ”Then try a different approach. You can tell Walker that you’re willing to help him reconcile with Chloe Reed. That way, he’ll keep you by his side. After that, you’re on your own.”

Selene Adler’s eyes lit up instantly.

”Auntie, thank you. I know what to do now.”

...

In the afternoon, Chloe Reed finished her recording session. Just as she stepped out of the studio, she saw Sunny Reed arrive.

At the sight, her brow furrowed.

’What’s going on?’

’Didn’t Judith Pierce say Sunny Reed wouldn’t be coming back?’

”Sister, you seem surprised to see me.” Sunny Reed walked right up to her, a gentle smile on her face.

Chloe Reed looked at her coldly. ”Why haven’t you resigned?”

But Sunny Reed just blinked and said, ”Because Walker asked me to stay, of course. Didn’t Walker tell you, sister?”

”Ha!”

Chloe Reed let out a cold laugh. She took a step forward, her clear eyes turning icy.

Sunny Reed felt a strange sense of unease. She took a step back, a flicker of wariness in her eyes. ”Sister, this is the office. What are you going to do?”

But Chloe Reed just leaned in closer and asked with utmost sincerity, ”When exactly are you going to get your hands on Walker Grant? And make him fall head over heels for you?”
