The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man

Chen Beiguo was quite adept at handling these matters.

As for Sun Yeshu, she ran home and poured out her grievances to Mrs. Sun.

She wanted Mrs. Sun to go and get even with Gu Jiaojiao on her behalf.

Mrs. Sun had always doted on her daughter, so seeing her get bullied, she certainly wasn’t going to let it slide. Right then and there, she prepared to take her two sons to settle the score with Gu Jiaojiao.

Her eldest aunt, who was sitting in the courtyard chopping chicken feed, frowned when she heard Mrs. Sun.

”From start to finish, Ye Shu never even saw Gu Zhiqing. How can this possibly be Gu Zhiqing’s fault!”

’She really couldn’t understand why Sun Yeshu had it in for Gu Jiaojiao. Gu Zhiqing had developed so many things that now saved them a great deal of time and effort in their work.’

’In previous years, her back would ache for ages afterward, but with those tools this year, she hardly felt tired at all.’

’She was truly grateful to Gu Jiaojiao.’

’But her own niece was acting as if she were possessed, dead set on causing trouble for the girl to the point of being completely unreasonable.’ It made her frown just thinking about it.

Before Mrs. Sun could even speak, Sun Yeshu erupted.

”Auntie, what’s that supposed to mean? Are you saying this is my fault?”

”You’re my aunt! How can you not side with me and take an outsider’s side instead? You’ve watched me grow up, and this is how you treat me?”

After saying her piece, she turned to complain to Mrs. Sun. ”Mom, look! Auntie doesn’t even care about me anymore.”

The aunt’s hand trembled as she chopped the chicken feed. She shot Sun Yeshu a glare, thinking the girl had been so spoiled by Mrs. Sun that she couldn’t tell what was good for her.

Mrs. Sun, however, didn’t think her daughter was at fault. On the contrary, she felt her sister-in-law was siding with an outsider when they were the ones who were family.

Still, she remained somewhat polite.

”Sister-in-law, Ye Shu is your own niece. Weren’t you the one who always wanted a daughter but was never so blessed? She’s the only girl in this family. How can you not support her and speak up for Gu Jiaojiao instead!”

There was a hint of smugness in Mrs. Sun’s voice.

Both sisters-in-law had first given birth to two sons. Later, the elder brother’s family had wanted a daughter and even tried many folk remedies for it, but nothing came of it.

She, on the other hand, had been blessed with a daughter without having to spend a dime on such things.

Ever since her daughter was born, Mrs. Sun had doted on her immensely.

The jab hit home, and the aunt’s heart clenched. ’Here I am, trying to be helpful, and they treat it like nothing. I shouldn’t have bothered reminding her.’

’Then again,’ she thought, ’with Sun Yeshu’s penchant for making trouble, she’ll probably end up seriously offending Gu Jiaojiao.’

’She remembered the last family that offended Gu Jiaojiao. Their entire household was banned from using the machines. They had to painstakingly walk through another village to fetch water from the river, and then climb a mountain to carry it back up.’ Just thinking about it made her own shoulders feel heavy.

The aunt slammed the dull, useless cleaver down on the wooden board, the impact sending much of the chopped chicken feed scattering onto the ground.

She rose to her feet, her eyes cold as she stared at Mrs. Sun.

”Go on and make trouble for Gu Zhiqing. I won’t stop you. But before that, we’re splitting up the household.”

Split the household?

The statement stunned everyone in the courtyard.

Mrs. Sun, in particular, was taken aback.

In the countryside, it was almost unheard of for a family to split up while the parents were still alive.

Mrs. Sun wanted to say something, but her sister-in-law had already turned and gone back into her room.

Sun Yeshu also knew how serious it was to split up the household, and she was too frightened to make a peep.

But as soon as her aunt was gone, she started wailing again.

This time, even Mrs. Sun was getting annoyed.

One thing after another at home recently had been because of her daughter, and all the girl did was cry. For a rare change, Mrs. Sun snapped.

”That’s enough! Just drop it for today. And in the future, don’t you go provoking Gu Jiaojiao.”

With that, she also returned to her room.

Sun Yeshu was furious, but she didn’t dare go looking for trouble with Gu Jiaojiao. All she could do was stomp her feet and return to her room.
