The Delicate Darling with Her Rough Man

Leng Yuan was too cold and taciturn. Although he was an expert in his field, everyone was a little intimidated by him. As for the desk by the door, it was cold in the winter and hot in the summer—not exactly a prime location.

Gu Jiaojiao scanned the room, then walked over to Leng Yuan. ”Mr. Leng, I’ll be sitting across from you from now on. I look forward to working with you.”

Leng Yuan reluctantly shook his wife’s hand. ”I look forward to working with you too, Teacher Gu.”

The others shot the pair a strange look.

The principal, on the other hand, thought everything was perfectly fine and went on to explain a few more work-related details.

Just then, a teacher asked, ”Principal, I thought we were hiring one teacher. Why is she a teaching assistant?”

The smile instantly vanished from the principal’s face. ”We hired two people this time: one teaching assistant and one teacher. It’s just that the new teacher had some business to attend to and requested time off.”

Everyone was speechless.

’What kind of teacher puts on such airs, taking leave before their first day? We’ve never heard of anything like it.’

However, seeing the principal’s foul mood, and considering a new position had suddenly opened up, everyone was sensible enough not to press the matter.

Only after he left did they start whispering among themselves.

Gu Jiaojiao, meanwhile, finished arranging her things and looked up to find the man across from her staring. She offered a kind reminder, ”Mr. Leng, your class is about to begin. You should get to the classroom.”

Leng Yuan let out a laugh of exasperation. He picked up his textbook and stared at his wife, his tone laden with meaning. ”Well then, Teacher Gu, you’d better use the time I’m in class to think carefully about how you’re going to explain all this to me later.”

Gu Jiaojiao gave him an ”A-OK” sign.

Seeing that it was almost time for his class, Leng Yuan got ready to head to the classroom. Just then, a sharp-eyed teacher spotted the brand-new Plum Blossom watch on his wrist and exclaimed in astonishment, ”Mr. Leng, is that a new Plum Blossom watch? I happened to see that exact model at the department store before the New Year. It cost over 280 yuan—almost 300! And you needed coupons for it, too. I was so jealous but didn’t dare to buy it. You actually got one!”

’My salary is only a dozen or so yuan a month. I’d have to save for two years without eating or drinking to afford a watch like that. How could I ever dare to buy it?’

Leng Yuan raised an eyebrow. ’I had no idea this watch was so expensive.’

Before he could say anything, the other teachers were already exclaiming in shock.

”That expensive? I thought Plum Blossom watches were only a little over a hundred yuan.”

The teacher who had first asked explained, ”I asked the salesperson about it. They said it was a limited edition, which means it’s the only one in this style. That’s why it’s so pricey.”

Instantly, all eyes snapped to Leng Yuan.

’So this watch really is that expensive,’ Leng Yuan thought. ’No wonder my wife said it was paid for with the money from her skincare products.’

’At the time, she made four hundred yuan. She gave forty to Lu Yuanbin, leaving three hundred sixty. After spending over two hundred eighty on the watch, there was about seventy left. The coupons for the watch must have been bought, too. Based on black market prices, that couldn’t have been less than thirty yuan. So, out of four hundred yuan, my wife was only left with forty?’

’But why is there this sweet feeling in my heart?’

Leng Yuan stroked his watch, his next words a complete bombshell. ”Teacher Gu is the one who bought this watch. If any of you have questions, you should ask her.”

Gu Jiaojiao, who had been standing on the sidelines enjoying the show with wide, blinking eyes, was suddenly put on the spot. She was completely dumbfounded.

’Hey, is it really okay for you to throw me under the bus like that?’

The other teachers were stunned as well. Once they recovered, they all turned to stare at Gu Jiaojiao.

One teacher standing nearby spoke up, her tone full of insinuation, ”Teacher Gu, are you aware that Mr. Leng is a married man?”

’How dare she buy him a watch so openly and carry on an improper relationship.’

’Absolutely shameless.’

Gu Jiaojiao sensed the teacher’s hostility but simply offered a perfectly appropriate smile. ”I do know,” she said. ”Because I’m his wife.”
