Reincarnated as a Mosquito, I Sucked the Reborn Empress to Tears

The avatar of the Xuanyuan Family’s Ancestor, standing to the side, nodded in agreement. ”Yes, indeed.”

”This vile beast has too many secrets. It keeps pulling out all sorts of trump cards we’ve never seen before.”

”If we let it escape today and give it another three or five years, I’m afraid that even all of us old-timers put together wouldn’t stand a chance against it.”

”We must seize this chance while it’s still finding its wings and crush it completely, right here and now!”

In just a few words, the two of them had sentenced Chu Sheng to death.

”I’ll do it.”

The Xia Family’s Ancestor spoke in an extremely placid tone, as if he were performing some trivial task. He slowly raised his hand.

The next second, the surrounding seawater began to churn violently, and the clouds in the sky were forcibly parted by an unseen power.

A terrifying power, beyond the Half-Step Emperor Realm, began to converge. He was preparing to obliterate the island and the cavern beneath it in one fell swoop.

However, just as he was about to make his move.

Two sharp whooshes suddenly tore through the air from the distant horizon.

”Elder Xia! Stay your hand!”

Along with an anxious shout...

Feng Wuji and Lin Yuehua’s figures instantly materialized on the other side of the island, positioning themselves directly above the cavern.

Feng Wuji clutched his signature wine gourd, his face etched with anxiety and solemnity.

Lin Yuehua was wreathed in a cold, clear moonlight, her brow tightly furrowed.

The two had tracked the spatial fluctuations all the way here. After a frantic chase, they had finally arrived in the nick of time.

The Xia Family’s Ancestor halted his movements. Looking at the two who had suddenly appeared, he sneered.

”And what is this?”

”You two juniors from the Military Department think you can stop me?”

”Have you forgotten your place!”

The expressions on Feng Wuji and Lin Yuehua’s faces turned grim.

’They knew perfectly well that he was right to look down on them.’

’It was no exaggeration to say that even if the two of them teamed up, they probably couldn’t even defeat the Xuanyuan Ancestor’s avatar.’

But still, they stood their ground, steeling themselves.

Because they knew what Chu Sheng meant to the Northern Domain Combat Zone—to the entire Great Xia Military Department.

Just as the situation reached a stalemate, with tensions at a breaking point...

An extremely gentle, yet utterly undeniable presence suddenly descended upon the sea.

This presence carried no hint of aggression, yet it instantly dissipated all the Energy the Xia Family’s Ancestor had gathered.

The seawater stopped churning, and the clouds grew still.

An old man in ordinary casual clothes, looking like a retired government official, had appeared at some point, standing between the two sides.

”Old Director?!”

The moment the four Great Emperors present saw this old man, their expressions changed drastically!

The Xia Family’s Ancestor and the Xuanyuan Ancestor’s avatar immediately shed their arrogance, their demeanor becoming respectful.

Feng Wuji and Lin Yuehua bowed their heads even more deeply in respect.

No one dared to make a move in his presence.

Even the hot-tempered Xia Family Ancestor could only swallow his killing intent.

This elder was none other than the former Director of the Great Xia Education Bureau, and one of the most powerful Great Emperors in Great Xia today.

The Old Director glanced at the island below, then at the four people before him, and spoke in a level voice.

”Tell me, how do you all intend to resolve this matter today?”

The Xia Family’s Ancestor’s expression wavered, showing clear hesitation, but he ultimately spoke with a hardened resolve:

”Old Director, there is no room for negotiation on this matter today!”

”We old-timers have suppressed the Ancient Gods for five hundred years, guarding Great Xia for five whole centuries!”

”In these five hundred years, how much blood have we shed? How many worldly pleasures have we renounced?”

”And for what!”

The Xia Family’s Ancestor pointed toward the Capital City, growing more agitated as he spoke.

”The Qin Family’s Ancestor, Qin Yuan, suppressed the Sakura Ancient God for five hundred years!”

”And what was the result? His descendants, the very foundation of his family, were wiped out right in the Capital City of Great Xia—by a Mosquito Beast!”

”What kind of justice is that? This is a slap in the face to all of us guardians!”

”If the leadership of Great Xia doesn’t kill this mosquito today and give us Noble Families a proper explanation, it will be a truly heart-chilling betrayal!”

The Xia Family’s Ancestor stared daggers at Feng Wuji and Lin Yuehua, then played his final card.

”I’ll make this perfectly clear right now!”

”If that mosquito doesn’t die today, then our Xia Family and the Xuanyuan Family will join Qin Yuan!”

”We will abandon our duty of suppressing the Ancient Gods!”

”Let’s just call it quits and wait for death together!”

Hearing this blatant threat to upend everything, the expressions on Feng Wuji and Lin Yuehua changed instantly.

Even the ever-expressionless Old Director furrowed his brow slightly.

’If it were just the Qin Family’s Ancestor shirking his duty, the Great Xia authorities could still draw on some of their reserves to barely patch the gap.’

’But if the Great Emperors of three Noble Families were to go on strike...’

’...the trouble would be immense.’

’Then, not just Great Xia, but the entire Human Race could face a catastrophe of unprecedented scale.’

Feng Wuji and Lin Yuehua had been dead set on protecting Chu Sheng.

But hearing this threat, both of them hesitated.

A soldier’s duty is to protect their home and defend their country.

To trade the safety of Great Xia’s over one billion citizens for the life of a single Mosquito Beast.

Even if this was a Mosquito Beast that had rendered immense service to the Human Race.

No matter how you looked at it, the trade was utterly unjustifiable.

Feng Wuji wrestled with his conscience for a long time before attempting to defend Chu Sheng.

”Elders, that mosquito is not some Fierce Beast that slaughters the innocent. There’s a logic to everything it does!”

”The only reason it wiped out the Qin Family was because they repeatedly provoked, hunted, and tried to kill it and its master! This is purely a personal grudge; it shouldn’t be escalated to the level of national security!”

Hearing this, the Xia Family’s Ancestor let out a laugh of pure indignation.

”A personal grudge? A fine ’personal grudge’ that is!”

”Feng Wuji, don’t you forget, it is a beast! We are human! ’Those not of our kind are sure to be of a different heart!’ Don’t you understand that simple truth?!”

”Is your Military Department so intent on shielding a Fierce Beast that massacred the citizens of Great Xia that you’ve abandoned the most basic principles of the Human Race?”

The Xia Family’s Ancestor grew more incensed as he spoke, bringing up a recent incident.

”Back in the Capital City, the generals of your four great combat zones publicly bowed to this mosquito in front of the entire world!”

”Have you all completely submitted to a Mosquito Beast?! The dignity of human generals, the honor of the Great Xia Military Department—you’ve thrown it all on the ground to be trampled underfoot!”

Hearing this, Lin Yuehua could no longer contain herself and stepped forward to retort.

”Elder Xia, you are twisting the facts!”

”We in the Military Department have never revered the mosquito itself! We revere the monumental military contributions it has made to Great Xia!”

”On the Northern Territory battlefield, it single-handedly staved off the collapse of the entire northern front and saved the lives of tens of millions of civilians! Are such monumental achievements not worthy of our respect?!”

”If even a hero with such merits can be arbitrarily executed, then who will be willing to lay down their lives for Great Xia in the future?!”

Both sides stuck to their guns, slinging accusations back and forth.

Neither side could convince the other, and the atmosphere dropped to a freezing point once again.

Just then.

The avatar of the Xuanyuan Ancestor, who had been mostly silent, suddenly chuckled. ”Heh, I admit, in the past, when this mosquito was a Contracted Beast of the Human Race, it could indeed be considered an ally.”

”But I suggest you all use your Perception now.”

”Are there any traces of a Soul Contract left on it?”

”Furthermore, its master, Gu Yuexi—her aura has vanished completely from this world.”

”When you put these two facts together, isn’t the implication obvious?”

At these words, the expressions on Feng Wuji and Lin Yuehua’s faces froze solid.

They had actually already sensed it.

The soul link between Chu Sheng and Gu Yuexi was, indeed, severed.

And Gu Yuexi’s aura had indeed vanished from the world without a trace.

’This situation could only mean one of two things.’

’Either Gu Yuexi was currently in a Secret Realm or some other pocket dimension...’

’...or she was already dead.’

’When you considered the fact that Chu Sheng was now completely free of his Soul Contract... ’

’...it pointed to one extremely likely possibility.’

’That the mosquito, in order to gain its complete freedom...’

’...had killed its own master, Gu Yuexi!’

In the world of Beast Tamers, a Contracted Beast killing its master is the ultimate taboo.

It is an unpardonable, capital offense!

If this charge were proven true, then Chu Sheng would truly be an irredeemably evil Fierce Beast.

No matter how great his military achievements, human society would never tolerate his existence.

Feng Wuji and Lin Yuehua opened their mouths to speak, but found they had no rebuttal.

They had no proof that Gu Yuexi was still alive.

Nor did they have any proof of how the contract had been broken.

As the argument reached its end, the scene fell into a dead silence.

The four Emperor Level experts couldn’t help but turn their gazes to the silent old man standing in the center—the Old Director.

They all knew that he was the only one who could make the final decision.

Although Great Xia ostensibly had eight Emperor Realm experts, the power gap between them could be as wide as the heavens and the earth.

Lin Yuehua and Feng Wuji were Great Emperors who had only ascended in the last century. Their strength was the weakest of the eight, placing them in the Third Echelon.

They weren’t even qualified to participate in the mission to suppress the Ancient Gods, and could only remain at the Military Department’s main base, ready to support the four major combat zones.

Above them were the Military Department’s mysterious Chief Instructor, along with the three ancestors of the Qin, Xuanyuan, and Xia Families.

These four formed the backbone of the force suppressing the Ancient Gods, belonging to the Second Echelon.

And at the very apex of the pyramid stood only two individuals.

One was the elusive Illusion Sea Spirit Emperor, who belonged to no organization and whose movements were a complete mystery.

Although he also participated in suppressing the Ancient Gods, he did so purely of his own volition.

The other was the man standing before them now: the old Director of the Education Bureau.

In fact, two hundred years ago, Great Xia had a third top-tier power: a legendary marshal of the Military Department.

But that person had left Blue Star long ago for the Outer Realm, and had not been heard from in two centuries.

So...

...this Old Director was the undisputed strongest expert currently representing the official power of Great Xia.

He held nearly absolute authority.

When he stood here, he spoke with the will of Great Xia itself.

The life or death of that mosquito now rested on his next words.

The Old Director remained silent for a long time, his profound gaze seeming to pierce through time and space, seeing countless possible futures.

Finally, he let out a slow sigh and began to speak.

”Sigh...”
