Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

Wei Kaiyun looked at the cardboard box on the ground. ”What’s in there?”

”I guess they must be peanut brittle and sesame candy, right?” These are pretty much the only specialties from our hometown.

Todays there’s no time to read the letters, so she asked Wei Kaiyun to put them in the study.

The New Year’s goods sent to the hometown have arrived, so she can rest assured.

Although something was already sent once before the New Year, she knows that this year they are all facing difficulties, so this time there was a bit more sent. She sent them to everyone she knows. The factory directors and the secretaries. This makes her feel more at ease.

Because they all listened to what she said, there were no casualties in the family. Except for Qian Jun’s wife’s maternal grandfather.

The lunch was very sumptuous, everyone could choose a dish, Jiang Xinyu had started preparing yesterday. So it wasn’t too busy.

”Life is still better in your house. This food is still best from your house,” Han Xiangjun marveled.

”As long as you like to eat it.” Wei Kaiyun doesn’t want to tease him anymore now.

After lunch, the family sat in the living room chatting.

Han Xiangjun gave Jianbin and the other three each a house. Today he gave them the house deeds. So these aren’t considered holiday gifts.

This year, each child received two hundred yuan.

Two hundred yuan at this time is roughly equivalent to a year’s income for an ordinary rural person.

”You spoil them like this.”

Han Xiangjun just laughed, ”What’s the use of making money if not for leaving it to the kids in the future? If I’m going to give it eventually, might as well give it now.”

Jiang Xinyu shook her head helplessly. Han Xiangjun is like this, luckily Jianbin is essentially a straightforward kid. Otherwise, he might end up becoming a wastrel.

Jiang Xinyu and Wei Kaiyun prepared gifts for them, each a gold pen. For the two younger ones, it was ten yuan each.

”Mom, do we get pens too?” Shi Xian asked, eyeing the gold pens hungrily.

Jiang Xinyu nodded. ”I’ve got them ready, just waiting for you to get into college before giving them to you. You two need to work hard.”

”Mom, do you think I can skip directly to fifth grade? Then I can start middle school next year.”

Jiang Xinyu shook her head, ”That way you’d miss out on much of your childhood.” Many people in the past life advocated for a happy childhood for children, right?

Shi Jing looked at his mother in surprise, ”Mom, what kind of odd idea is that?

What is childhood? Do you want me to be like Er Lei Zi, covered in mud playing outside all day? Or think I should be mischievous every day, and have other moms come over to complain to you?”

Jiang Xinyu glared at Shi Xian, what a naughty kid.

”You do whatever you want, I don’t mind.”

”Mom, I’m not as smart as brother, I can’t skip grades.” Tingting felt a bit down. She had really tried hard, but there was a big difference compared to her second brother.

”You all make your own decisions, I trust you completely.”

Han Xiangjun just laughed, didn’t promise a house for the two younger ones. Actually, he prepared Shi Xian’s long ago, but he couldn’t feel close to Tingting yet. He’ll deal with it later.

Shang Zhenkun’s gift to the five was a set of four treasures of the study each. He had scavenged them. They’re really quite nice.

After digestion, everyone went to relax for a while.

Shi Jing, Jianbin, and Shi Xian went to chat with Shang Zhenkun. Although Shang Zhenkun often repeated things now, the two didn’t find it annoying.

Especially Shi Jing, he had been with Shang Zhenkun since before he was a year old. Their bond is particularly deep.

Feifei was in the study painting, she was preparing a New Year’s gift for Shang Zhenkun, the final touches were left.

This was a portrait of Shang Zhenkun, painted very meticulously by Jiang Feifei.

Tingting was memorizing music sheets, she knew she wasn’t as smart as her older siblings, so she only could work hard.

Jiang Xinyu was reading letters in the study. The first letter she read was from Chen Xiangting, and it was a note of peace from the home. This girl was accepted into Film and Television University this year.

She was right when she guessed as a child. This is pretty good, as long as she likes it herself.

The second letter was from Hao Shichao. He’s now working properly at the furniture factory, not having other thoughts anymore. He wrote to thank Jiang Xinyu for the supplies and food she sent.

The third letter was from Qiao Jingyi, now their family and Qian Jun’s family have transferred to the provincial textile factory.

No rebuilding here, it’s said they’ll build a new factory in the city.

Actually, this is good too. Jiang Xinyu remembered that there was still a house in the provincial capital for all these years. I wonder how it is now.

She’ll find time to ask Wei Kaiyun, he should have arrangements.

The fourth letter was from She Xiaoyun, nothing special, just telling her the family house has been completed, thanks to substantial donations and direct government allocations, all houses were uniform.

Next was Qian Jun’s letter, it also told Jiang Xinyu that he and Yao Shimin were going to work in the provincial textile management bureau. As for future plans, it’s still unknown.

The last letter was from Ding Shihong, telling Jiang Xinyu her house has been built. He’s already helped to paint it simply and found people to polish the floors.

Jiang Xinyu picked up a pen to reply, but not to Qiao Jingyi and Qian Jun, fearing they won’t receive it.

Wei Kaiyun and Han Xiangjun were chatting casually. This year’s profit has been divided.

When he goes to deliver wine this time, he’ll bring money to him.

”What’s the situation in the South?”

”Anytime, I’ve already been operating over there.”

”Lv Beiguang has been anxious already.”

”I’m anxious too, but my anxiety can’t solve it; I’ve tasted the wine there, it’s definitely much better than in the North, Lv Beiguang said it’s the internal temperature and humidity, there’s a big difference.”

”I see Lv Beiguang just wants to stay in the South with his wife, leaving five kids in the capital.”

”Haha, really didn’t see him being that kind of person. But that’s good too, Lv Beiguang is happy.”

After Jiang Xinyu finished replying to the letters, she went to the kitchen to knead dough. Dumpling dough prepared early is convenient.

The fillings for dumplings today are various kinds, fortunately, it’s just them otherwise who knows how they’d manage.

Feifei paused at the last stroke. She stood up and stared, this isn’t how Shang Zhenkun looks now, but how he looked ten years ago, Master Shang was so full of spirit back then. Time truly makes people old.

She carried the drawing board over for the Master to see.

Shang Zhenkun was smiling, seeing himself in his favorite child’s heart like this.

”Good, very good.”

”Feifei, you paint really well. I want to do an ink painting.” Shi Jing said as he left.

Shi Jing has talent in calligraphy and ink painting.

Shi Xian sat aside smiling. ”Sis, why don’t you just hire a photographer?”

Jiang Feifei chuckled. ”Then it wouldn’t be done by your own hand.”
