Rebirth in Famine: She Thrives by Lucky Space

”If he goes back, the three of us will just work on our own at the factory.”

Jiang Xinyu didn’t say anything this time. Little disturbances wouldn’t attract much attention. Even if someone found out, it wouldn’t be a big deal.

Right now, even the common people need a self-production certificate from the brigade to sell vegetables from their own gardens. It’s still that tense, but it will be soon. Once the problem is resolved, things will quickly get back on track.

She didn’t close her eyes all night, and Wei Kaiyun accompanied her like that.

The children were already up exercising, but Jiang Xinyu had no interest at all.

Wei Kaiyun forced her to have breakfast. She just sat in front of the radio.

She listened all the way until evening, but there was no news.

Jiang Xinyu didn’t know whether it was good or bad. Qiao Jingyi noticed the difference in Jiang Xinyu.

”Xinyu. What’s up with you?”

”I don’t know, I’m just very anxious.”

”Did you dream again?” Qiao Jing asked with a pale face, trembling.

Jiang Xinyu nodded, ”I’ll call them tomorrow.”

The radio was on all night, and Jiang Xinyu was very conflicted; afraid of hearing news, scared it had actually happened. But there was no report here, now she was desperate to know the news over there.

Seeing her like this made Wei Kaiyun feel heartache, but he was also anxious to know the news over there.

”Let’s call Chaoyang. If there really was an earthquake, Chaoyang must have felt it.”

Wei Kaiyun accompanied her to the city. On the way, Jiang Xinyu didn’t say a single word.

It took five or six calls before Han Xiangjun answered the phone.

”Old Han, was there an earthquake?”

”Xiao Jiang, how did you know?” Han Xiangjun spoke seriously for the first time.

Wei Kaiyun saw tears streaming down his wife’s face. He took the receiver, ”Old Han, what’s the magnitude?”

”A major earthquake.”

”Wei Kaiyun, I want to go back. I want to go back.”

”Alright.” Wei Kaiyun hung up the phone and held Jiang Xinyu. ”Okay, we’ll go back, let’s pack and leave now.

Stop crying, you need to be strong, there’s still a lot waiting for you.”

”Yes, I’ll be strong. Everyone will go back, and the children will stay in the Capital.”

It’s close, and with Han Xiangjun there, she’s at ease.

Right now, whatever Jiang Xinyu says goes for Wei Kaiyun.

They arrived at the urgent transport team. It happened to be Jin Erlin’s shift today. He was quite surprised to see the couple.

”Captain Jin, arrange a car for us.”

Jin Erlin nodded immediately, ”Wait a moment, I’ll call Xiao Lin over. He just returned the day before yesterday.”

”Captain Jin, just have Xiao Lin go straight to my house.”

”Okay, no problem.”

After they got home, Wei Kaiyun woke everyone up.

”There was a major earthquake at our old place. We don’t know the specifics yet. Shi Jing, hurry and pack your luggage. We’re leaving.”

”I won’t go. The children should stay.”

Qiao Jingyi was already scared silly, and several children started crying.

Wei Kaiyun thought for a moment and understood Old Yang’s intention, ”Okay. We two and a few of them will go back together.

Xinyu, pack some of our supplies, I’m going to find Li Yungui and bring some food over.”

Jiang Xinyu was comforting Qiao Jing and the others. After hearing, she nodded.

Wei Kaiyun went to Li Yungui’s house, startling Li Yungui.

”Village Chief Li, how much white flour do we have in our brigade?”

”Processed yesterday, over two thousand jin. What’s up?” This white flour is for everyone.

”Give it all to me, there was a major earthquake at Xinyu’s old home, we’re leaving tonight.”

”Okay, it’s all yours.”

”Village Chief Li, arrange for a few people to help load the truck, I need to go back and pack, and the children need to stay.”

”Xiao Wei, don’t worry, I’m here.”

The Red Army and Changhe and the others also got up. Li Yungui instructed them to call Li Yunqiang and Li Cunshan.

When Wei Kaiyun got home, Feifei was next to her mother.

”Dad, I want to go too.”

Wei Kaiyun knew it was because his wife hadn’t agreed that the daughter came to him.

”Feifei, no, stay at home.”

”But I want to go. Mom, I can help.”

At this moment, Shi Jing and Jianbin also came in. ”Dad, we want to go with you too.”

”I’m afraid of aftershocks.”

”Mom, it would take us at least half a month to get there, aftershocks won’t be that serious by then.”

”Mom, you and Dad going there wouldn’t ease our minds. Let’s stay together as a family.”

”Alright. The family stays together.”

Meanwhile, Guodong arrived. Hearing noise next door, he was worried and came over.

Wei Kaiyun told him about the earthquake, and Guodong stepped back in fright, ”Uncle Wei, I’ll go back with you.”

Jiang Xinyu thought for a moment, if Guodong went back, it would be beneficial for his future.

”Go call your dad.”

Lv Beiguang already knew what was happening at home and stumbled into the Wei family.

”Xinyu, is it true?”

”Yes, we’re setting off in a while, Guodong wants to go back with us, I think it will be beneficial for him. What do you think?”

”Yes. I want to go back too.”

Jiang Xinyu saw Lv Beiguang looking at her resolutely and finally nodded.

”In that case, let Xiao Qiang go too.” Old Yang spoke up. That kid just came to me, wanting to go back with us.

Wei Kaiyun nodded, told them to pack up, when the truck arrived, load the flour, and everybody would have to squeeze in the back.

Lv Beiguang returned to the distillery, ”Xiuqin, I need to go back home, there was a major earthquake. Guodong and I are going back together, move back home tomorrow with the three kids.”

Yang Xiuqin was startled, ”Major earthquake?”

”Yes, I’m leaving now, you and Xue’er take care of the kids at home.”

Yang Xiuqin was very worried but knew she couldn’t stop him, so she hurriedly packed clean clothes and toiletries for Lv Beiguang.

”Here’s two thousand yuan from home, take it all.”

Lv Beiguang didn’t refuse, hugged Yang Xiuqin, ”Don’t worry, there’s no danger. Wait for me at home.”

Yang Xiuqin hugged Lv Beiguang’s waist, ”I know. Go ahead, I’ll be here.”

On Guodong’s side, Li Xue was tearfully sobbing, ”Xue’er, stop crying, there’s no danger, wait for me at home.”

”I’m not assured.”

Guodong hugged Li Xue, ”Aunt Jiang said it’s good for me to go.” Guodong could only say this, but in truth, he was worried about the people he knew and didn’t know at the old home.

”Guodong, you must be careful. I want to go with you.”

”What about the kids? Xue, you have to believe me. We don’t know the situation at the old place yet, Dad and I will go, you and Aunt Yang stay home.”

Li Xue finally had no choice but to give Guodong the three thousand yuan from home. ”You can’t take it all, the family also needs money.”
