I, the Destined Villain, Start by Controlling the Saint

The Xiao family does not support idle people“Is his sister pretty?”

This Soul question almost caused You Feng’s CPU to smoke. What kind of questions were these?

“Your subordinate does not know how to evaluate, but your subordinate has collected information on both of them, including a portrait of his sister. Master, please take a look.”

You Feng handed Xiao Fan a roll of scrolls.

Upon receiving it, Xiao Fan saw a young girl with a youthful appearance in the scroll, dressed simply, looking sickly and lacking Life Qi.

She was not tall, small and delicate, perhaps tormented by the cold poison, which caused her pain. Her forced smile made one feel a little heartache.

[Lan Yuhong: The child Xiao Yun’s parents adopted from outside, treating her as their own.

Xiao Yun’s parents publicly claimed that Lan Yuhong was a child they found on the road, with a jade pendant engraved with the character ’Lan’ on her person. It happened to be after a rain, and a rainbow bridge appeared in the sky, hence she was named Lan Yuhong.]

[However, Xiao Yun’s parents treated Lan Yuhong even better than they treated Xiao Yun. A child they picked up received better treatment than their own child, so people did not quite believe the story of her being ’picked up.’ Nevertheless, others only watched the spectacle and did not delve deeper.]

Xiao Fan closed the scroll, labeling Lan Yuhong as a Daughter of Luck in his mind. In terms of appearance, she was not particularly striking, just an ordinary person.

But Xiao Fan knew that none of the Daughters of Luck were ordinary people; a youthful white swan would surely transform into a true white swan when she grew up.

Your sister must be very moist; she is mine!

“Understood, you may leave.” Xiao Fan waved his hand.

“Yes.” With that, a patch of darkness emerged beneath You Feng’s feet, and he slowly descended, disappearing into the darkness.

“First, I’ll go see my father and ask for help.”

Xiao Fan returned home. He didn’t much care about the engagement; it was a foregone conclusion, so he just let his mother arrange it.

He had other matters to attend to on this trip back.

...

Linxian Heaven, where the Xiao Family was located, had clear hierarchical divisions from the inside out.

The innermost region was where the main branch and direct descendants of the Xiao Family Cultivated. Those within were all the Family’s Genius Disciples, as well as Body Integration and Mahayana Elders.

The next layer outwards was for those with slightly lesser Aptitude, and Elders whose cultivation was not very high, roughly those who had Cultivated for several millennia and could only reach the Soul Transformation and Void Refining Realms.

The outermost layer consisted of ordinary Family members, with the lowest Aptitude, generally only forming a Golden Core at eighty years old.

Although it was the outermost periphery, it was definitely several times better than the core Elders and Disciples of ordinary forces.

The outermost periphery of Linxian Heaven was a peak that most Cultivators could barely reach in their entire lives.

Even in the outermost periphery, as long as one Cultivated steadily, the Spiritual Qi environment here could allow one to Cultivate to the Void Refining Realm.

Being born well was more important than anything else.

In the outermost periphery of Linxian Heaven, Spiritual Qi was abundant, and the sky was filled with a radiant glow. Various Spirit Beasts were common, and Spirit Medicine grew everywhere, like a blessed land for immortals.

This was Linxian Heaven; there were no dilapidated thatched huts. The worst were still courtyards. Those who could enter the Xiao Family’s main house to Cultivate were all Dragons among men.

The environment being ’poor’ was only relative to the core region of the Xiao Family.

In a courtyard spanning over ten acres, there was a sickly-looking young girl. This girl was Lan Yuhong.

At this moment, she was sitting in meditation, Qi Refining, but the more she Cultivated, the more the coldness in her body intensified. This was a chronic illness she had since childhood.

Whenever she Cultivated, cold Qi would accumulate in her body, so she dared not Cultivate. Even now, she was only at Qi Refining First Rank, unable to even achieve Bigu (abstinence from grains).

The intensifying coldness in her body made her shiver all over, feeling extremely uncomfortable.

The jade pendant hanging around her neck emitted a white light, absorbing this coldness. If not for this jade pendant, she probably wouldn’t have lived until now.

Xiao Yun returned.

His face was resolute, his gaze firm. As soon as he entered the courtyard, he headed towards Lan Yuhong’s boudoir, but he only called out from outside the door.

“Yuhong sister, are you feeling better?”

Lan Yuhong composed herself, opened the door, and walked out, a relaxed expression on her sickly pale face.

“Brother Yun, I’m fine.”

Xiao Yun looked heartbroken. He quickly took out a crimson Medicinal Pill and said, “This is a cold-expelling Medicinal Pill I bought outside. I heard it has miraculous effects. Quickly try it.”

Lan Yuhong refused, shaking her head, “Brother Yun, don’t waste Spirit Stones. If these Medicinal Pills were truly useful, I wouldn’t still be unwell now.”

Over the years, she had taken countless Medicinal Pills, almost becoming a medicine jar.

None of them had any effect.

“Just try it, what if it really works?” Xiao Yun smiled.

Lan Yuhong felt a warmth in her heart. Brother Yun was so kind; she couldn’t make him sad.

She took the Medicinal Pill in front of Xiao Yun. Xiao Yun watched with anticipation, and as usual, it was still useless.

Lan Yuhong couldn’t help but sigh in her heart. After years of illness, her heart was already calm.

Xiao Yun also looked disappointed. What exactly could be done to cure Lan Yuhong?

Lan Yuhong said, “Brother Yun, I heard you had a disagreement with the Family?”

At the mention of this, Xiao Yun became angry.

“Hmph, I said you are my sister, but those people refused to treat you on the grounds of no blood relation. This Xiao Family, it’s not worth staying in.”

Lan Yuhong was stunned. Not worth staying?

She wasn’t worried about herself, but about Xiao Yun.

She had no blood relation with the Xiao Family, so it was normal for them not to help her.

Being angry with the Family over this made Lan Yuhong feel an unspeakable discomfort, feeling that her existence made things difficult for Xiao Yun.

Even if this was the outskirts of Linxian Heaven, there were few places in the world better for Cultivation.

She didn’t want Xiao Yun to miss the Opportunity to Cultivate in Linxian Heaven because of her.

Lan Yuhong spoke, “Brother Yun, don’t have conflicts with the Family because of me.”

“The Xiao Family is very strong and gives you an Opportunity to Cultivate in Linxian Heaven. You must cherish it. When you become powerful, you will definitely be able to cure me.”

Xiao Yun: “By then, I’m afraid, alas.”

Qi Refining First Rank, coupled with her illness, it was questionable whether she could live past fifty. In just a few decades, it would be too difficult to cure Lan Yuhong.

Lan Yuhong was open-minded. She was an orphan by birth, and being adopted was already a great fortune. She also had a brother who cared for her; she had no regrets in life.

At this moment, a group of people arrived at the courtyard where Xiao Yun was.

“Xiao Yun, have you finished collecting the Bright Flame Flowers?”

“What Bright Flame Flowers?”

The newcomers exchanged glances, somewhat puzzled, but still explained to him:

“Your task! To collect three hundred Bright Flame Flowers. The Family notified you a month ago. Today is the day to submit the task.”

Xiao Yun said coldly, “I haven’t claimed my stipend for the past two months, so why should I perform tasks?”

He held a grudge against the Family for not saving Lan Yuhong, and he ignored the tasks. He saw the notification, but just didn’t do it.

The newcomer was a Disciple of the Xiao Family. He looked at Xiao Yun’s self-righteous demeanor, greatly perplexed.

“If you don’t claim it, the stipend stays there. No one forces you.”

“But the tasks assigned to you by the Family, you must do. You are a Disciple who returned from a collateral branch, and you should understand how to cherish Opportunity even more. Linxian Heaven does not support idlers; how many people outside want to enter here to Cultivate but have no Opportunity?”

“Collecting Bright Flame Flowers is not difficult at all; it’s more than enough for you. You actually didn’t do it. Are the Family’s rules no longer effective?”

By the end, he was vaguely annoyed.

He was frustrated with Xiao Yun’s lack of progress.

Xiao Yun had good Aptitude, and if he Cultivated diligently, he could definitely reach a higher Rank.

Xiao Yun indignantly said, “They won’t even cure my sister. What humanity does this Xiao Family have?”

The newcomer suppressed his emotions, “Don’t act recklessly just because your Aptitude is good. There are many people in the Xiao Family whose Aptitude is higher than yours.”

Seeing the conflict arise, Lan Yuhong wanted to say a few words to ease the atmosphere.

Xiao Yun sneered repeatedly, “At worst, I’ll leave this Xiao Family. The sea is wide for fish to leap, and the sky is high for birds to fly.”

But before Lan Yuhong could speak, Xiao Yun completely shut down the conversation.

This provoked a cold snort from that Disciple: “I will report the situation to the Family immediately. You can wait to be moved out.”

With that, he left without looking back.

Lan Yuhong still wanted to step forward and explain, but Xiao Yun stopped her and said, “Yuhong, I won’t abandon you. I will definitely cure you.”

Seeing his serious demeanor, Lan Yuhong couldn’t bring herself to be angry and could only blame herself internally, feeling that she was dragging Xiao Yun down.

Looking at her self-reproachful expression, Xiao Yun felt a little smug in his heart. If she felt guilty, she should develop feelings of love for him later, right?

Yes, he liked Lan Yuhong and wanted to make her feel guilty to make her fall in love with him. As for the treatment, he was very confident.

He had a great Opportunity on him. When she was on the verge of death, he would confess his feelings and then save her, and everything would naturally fall into place.

“Forget it, let’s pack up and get ready to leave.” Lan Yuhong sighed.

However, could one simply come and go from the Xiao Family as they pleased?

Xiao Yun and Lan Yuhong, having packed their belongings, were about to leave the Xiao Family when they were stopped by the guards at the entrance and exit of Linxian Heaven.

Xiao Yun said coldly, “Why are you targeting us?”

The guard simply replied mercilessly, “You still have a task unfinished; you cannot leave.”

“I haven’t claimed my stipend for the past two months, so it’s normal for me not to do tasks. Why should I be restricted?”

“My orders are to watch you.”

The guard snorted coldly, “Understand your place. Your expenses in the Family over the past six months have been enormous, and you haven’t done a single task. You think you can just pack up and leave? Do you think my Xiao Family is a charity?”

“If you want to leave, you can. Return all the Spirit Stones and Spirit Medicine the Family gave you during these days, plus the rent for your residence in Linxian Heaven during this period. Settle all of this, and I will immediately let you go.”

The guard said.

Xiao Yun roared, “You!”

“The Xiao Family does not support idlers. If you want to leave the Family, you must return everything you obtained within the Family.”

Lan Yuhong persuaded Xiao Yun to calm down. She actually didn’t want to leave, because there was no place better suited for Cultivation than here.

She didn’t want him to leave such a good place because of her.

Now that they were stopped, she felt a sense of relief in her heart instead.

Helpless, Xiao Yun had to give up, but this was only on the surface. Everything was in his calculations; he was not willing to leave this place at all.

All of it was just a performance, a performance for Lan Yuhong to show her importance in his heart.
