The Broken Halo

Blackblade could not understand why he was going through so much pain.

The mental tentacle that latched onto his forehead was releasing waves upon waves of mental energy on the surface of his mental barrier.

It felt like sound waves were being released in his mind, but these sound waves were not just causing powerful vibrations on his mind, they also carried an aura of death and pain.

Although Blackblade could not think properly because of the pain, he knew that what he was going through was not normal.

His mental barrier was dying. It was getting weaker and weaker with every passing second, and cracks were beginning to appear on its surface.

Black mist drifted into his sea of consciousness from the cracks on his mental barrier, and cracks began to form above his sea of consciousness.

As for his actual sea of consciousness?

It began to dry up when the black mist drifted inside it, and the screams of Blackblade intensified.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!”

He could feel it the more.

He could feel the properties that Simon’s mental energy carried.

Death

This was the most prevalent one.

Simon’s mental energy was a mental energy of death and it did not just damage to his mind, it was killing his mind.

Even if he survived this, with the spare thought he had, he was not even certain if his mind would be healed and if he won’t be an idiot.

There were a few other disturbing and terrifying aspects of Simon’s mental energy which Blackblade could not distinguish, but the most prevalent one was Death.

The expressions and gazes of some powerful demons in the audience became serious when they saw the reaction and condition of Blackblade.

Blackblade had no idea, but as he was screaming out his lungs, blood was dripping on the floor from beneath his mask.

If he removed his mask, one would see that his eyes were bleeding, his nose were bleeding, and his lips were also bleeding.

Even his ears were bleeding.

They all looked at the black tentacle that latched itself on Blackblade’s forehead, and they could not help but frown.

They knew that the tentacle was made out of mental energy, which meant that it was a mental technique, but what mental technique was this?

There was nothing like this in the library of the academy.

And from what they could see, if there was such a technique, then it should be in the lower levels of the library.

How was Simon able to get a book from the lower levels of the library?

Even Korth’s brother was also staring at the black tentacle with visible curiosity.

He leaned forward and placed his chin on top of his interlocked fingers, staring at the scene with a spark of interest in his eyes.

As for Simon, he was a little bit taken aback by the fierce reaction of Blackblade.

Was the Advanced Mind Wave technique that deadly and painful?

He didn’t believe so.

It was an advanced technique, but Blackblade’s reaction was a bit too much.

’Which means it’s most likely my mental energy that’s causing it.’

His expression became solemn when he had this thought, and he would have released a sigh if things were not so chaotic around him.

He was not standing in one spot while having these thoughts.

Absolutely not.

If he was, he’d be a corpse by now.

Because Blackblade was no longer controlling the magma and flames in the arena, everything was now in chaos.

He was trying his best to dodge as much of the falling magma as possible, but it was inevitable that some touched him.

He had no clothes anymore, and even his mask was filled with scorch marks and was becoming too hot for him to handle.

Without hesitation, he removed it and threw it away before it caused severe injuries to his face.

The little fire affinity he had was what helped him to withstand the heat on his face for so long, but it was becoming too much.

His burning white hair, his handsome grey face, his sky-blue vertical pupils with a black ring around them, a single horn on the right side of his forehead, and a shirtless body revealing his toned and explosive muscles was visible to everybody in the Death Arena.

Even as Simon ran, he was still running toward Blackblade and not to somewhere safe.

He was doing this for several reasons, and one of them is because of his mental energy.

The consumption rate of his mental energy as he was using Advanced Mind Wave was high, and he needed to end the technique as quickly as possible.

Moments later, Simon finally got closer to Blackblade, his body riddled with burns of several degrees.

Even with his high level of control over his demonic energy, he could not prevent himself from getting burnt.

Though, what he did was to make sure that none of his vital areas got burnt.

Simon looked at the kneeling, screaming, and crying Blackblade who was a few meters in front of him.

He had recalled the central tentacle back into his sea of consciousness, but Blackblade was still in serious pains.

Simon wished to kill him now, but standing in between him and Blackblade was the tornado of flaming swords.

’It seems the sword is protecting him.’

Simon glanced at the Sovereign ranked sword, then he inhaled deeply and to the disbelief of nearly everybody watching, he dashed into the tornado without hesitation.

His eyes were cold and filled with a relentless determination and fearlessness as he jumped inside the flaming tornado of swords.

If he wanted to kill Blackblade, he had to do this.

The walls and waves of magma had died down because Blackblade was no longer able to supply the sword with demonic energy but the tornado of flaming swords remained and it did not look like it was going to die down.

The Sovereign ranked sword was protecting Blackblade, and Simon was beginning to feel his mind going sluggish because he had used nearly forty percent of his mental energy in this battle.
