Fully Leveled Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1561: Chapter 1561: The Couple from Back Then

The Xiao Family had no problems, and Lu Tong and the others were already accustomed to hiding and staying in the shadows. Previously at the Dongqing Temple, only Lu Tong pretended to be Xiao Family’s personal maid and stayed by their side, while the others also remained unseen.

Upon seeing that they all agreed, Shu Yu asked the Xiao Family to pack their things and depart soon.

The manor outside the city she mentioned was the place Meng Yunzheng had prepared for her when she was exiled.

The middle-aged couple on the manor had specially come to see Shu Yu off when she was exiled from the prefecture, offering money to the officers escorting her and putting on a show to prevent suspicion.

This couple were not locals, had no relatives here, and were childless. In their early years, they both fell ill, and somehow rumors spread that their illness was incurable and contagious.

So their employer sent them to work on the manor, but actually, it was more of letting them fend for themselves.

That manor wasn’t very large, and the employer had nearly forgotten about this property.

Hence, after arriving at the manor, the couple had to take care of all their living expenses themselves. Furthermore, still being ill, it was difficult for them to earn money, leaving them without any hope.

It was when Old Doctor Zhao passed by the manor, asking them for some water and a place to rest, that he cured their illness.

The couple was very grateful to Old Doctor Zhao. Coincidentally, during that period, Old Doctor Zhao planned to stay at the Dongan Province for a while, so he stayed at the manor, and they gradually became friends.

Later, when Old Doctor Zhao left, the couple was quite reluctant, longing for a reunion.

However, since Old Doctor Zhao traveled all around, he never returned.

But three years ago, Meng Yunzheng and Zhao Xi visited Dongan Province. Zhao Xi brought a letter from Old Doctor Zhao to visit the couple, and they received Zhao Xi with great enthusiasm.

Then, Two years ago, when Shu Yu was exiled, Meng Yunzheng and Zhao Xi sought help from the couple.

Without a word, they agreed. Although at that time the Shu family’s case was mainly judged by Lord Jing, who was on their side, the couple didn’t know that. Their involvement in such a large case posed a great risk.

Yet, the couple didn’t mind. Having faced death, it was Old Doctor Zhao who brought them back from the brink, allowing them to live these extra years.

Being able to help, the couple felt very fulfilled.

Later, Shu Yu returned from exile and became the Village Chief, and she confessed everything to the former Emperor.

With things settled, Shu Yu went to visit the couple, originally thinking of ways to repay them. However, Meng Yunzheng had already arranged everything.

He bought the manor, including the couple.

Afterwards, he gave them the selling contract and the deed to the manor.

Now the manor is their private property, and they are no longer servants. Although they don’t have their own children, they live in harmony, enjoying a good life.

When Old Doctor Zhao came to Dongan Province last year, he also visited them. Occasionally when he comes to the prefecture, he stops by.

This time, the place Shu Yu wants to move the Xiao Family to was recommended by Old Doctor Zhao—the manor.

Shu Yu asked the couple, and they were very willing.

Both sides have already discussed everything, so it’s just a matter of taking the Xiao Family there.

The carriage stopped about a mile outside the manor, with Shu Yu not going further.

Since this is a seeking refuge, it should look like seeking refuge.
