She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!

Chu Chen is the Dragon King’s Consort. She wasn’t rescued by anyone; she managed to sneak away.

It won’t be long before the Water Dragon King becomes furious and captures the Dragon King’s Consort back. The Water Dragon King will also be enraged by this incident and punish the people of Meihua Village.

Zhu Wenjian flashed a hateful look and summoned his confidant, ”Go invite Daoist Wu You, tell him I have important matters to discuss.”

Zhu Wenjian has been helping the Water Dragon King select a consort for many years in Laining County, so naturally, he’s confident.

In the past, there were opponents to the consort selection, but they quickly faced the wrath of the Water Dragon King, and since then, no one dared to oppose it.

This time, the people of Meihua Village can’t blame him. That Chu Chen isn’t smart; since she got another chance at life, why didn’t she go somewhere else with a new identity? She just had to come back to meet her death!

Daoist Wu You appeared in his Taoist robe, and Zhu Wenjian greeted him with a smile, ”Daoist, Chu Chen has escaped back, and the people of Meihua Village all know. I’m afraid the Water Dragon King will be furious.”

”Being selected by the Water Dragon King is her honor. If she dares to escape, she must endure the Water Dragon King’s wrath.” Daoist Wu You stroked his beard, eyes slightly narrowed, ”My lord should prepare well to prevent the Water Dragon King’s rage from affecting other places. We will need to select a consort again.”

”Indeed, indeed.” Zhu Wenjian smiled broadly. It’s time for these foolish people to learn not to provoke the Water Dragon King casually. It’s been a long time since the Dragon King was angry, no wonder they’ve forgotten.

”My lord, I will head to Meihua Village now.” As Daoist Wu You finished speaking, he was about to turn and leave.

Just as he stepped out of the house, he felt something amiss. Looking up quickly, he saw water pouring from the sky, drenching him completely. Zhu Wenjian, who followed him out, also didn’t notice and ended up soaked.

It seemed as if a river was flowing in the sky, and its waters rushed into the County Government, quickly flooding it.

From outside the County Government, one could see a river of water pouring into it from the sky.

Though the County Government’s main doors were open, no water flowed out, and outsiders could see inside, leaving them astonished. Their faces showed terror and curiosity.

What is happening?

”It’s the Water Dragon King, it must be the Water Dragon King showing his spirit.”

”Why would the Water Dragon King flood the County Government?”

”Could it be that the County Magistrate angered the Water Dragon King?”

”It must be because the County Magistrate stole the Water Dragon King’s tribute.” Someone spoke with a solemn face, eyes filled with fear.

The crowd believed this explanation; otherwise, why would the Water Dragon King trouble the County Magistrate?

There weren’t many scholars among the common people, but they knew there were many corrupt officials. Every year when the Water Dragon King selects a consort, the people must pay silver. This silver is offered to the Water Dragon King, and the County Magistrate collects it on his behalf.

So, the Water Dragon King’s flooding of the County Government could only mean the County Magistrate was embezzling.

Truly audacious.

Realizing this, the people became angry, kneeling outside and hoping for the Water Dragon King’s forgiveness.

Meanwhile, inside the County Government, Daoist Wu You and Zhu Wenjian, who were flooded, were floating on the water surface.

Daoist Wu You quickly reacted, casting a spell to fly up, but as soon as he did, a wave knocked him back down.

He spat out blood, his face filled with horror.

Who is this master daring to interfere?

His mind raced, pondering how to negotiate, when there was a commotion in the sky.

A dragon’s roar emanated from the clouds, and before Daoist Wu You could express his shock, all the people of Laining County saw the Azure Dragon weaving through the clouds.

”The Dragon King has shown his spirit!”

The people who witnessed this scene involuntarily knelt.

In an instant, the Azure Dragon hovered above the County Government, transforming into a woman in blue. They only registered her beauty but couldn’t recall her face.

Immediately, everyone had a thought: The divine must not be offended.

Even Daoist Wu You, who initially wanted to resist, was frightened. Not to mention he was now incapable of resistance, even if he could, he wouldn’t dare do anything.

His body went limp, his mind flooded with the realization that dragons truly exist in this world!

It’s all over now. The True Dragon must have discovered his and Zhu Wenjian’s scheme of using the Water Dragon King’s consort selection to make money and manipulate ignorant people.

”I happened to pass by and heard about the Water Dragon King’s consort selection. I was curious, indeed.”

Daoist Wu You and Zhu Wenjian heard this voice. It was pleasant but pierced their eardrums, causing them to bleed from their seven orifices. They were in pain but not in mortal danger.

The water level had risen above the County Government, so the people of Laining County could see the two men weakly floating on the water, momentarily speechless.

”Do you have an explanation for this absurdity about the Water Dragon King’s consort selection?” Ah Chen asked.

Jiang Zhi and Shen Zheng’an exchanged glances from the crowd. Is she really not a dragon? They were also shocked by the scene of the Azure Dragon rolling through the clouds.

They never expected such a resolution method. Those who saw this today will probably never forget it for the rest of their lives.

Whether or not she’s a dragon, she is undoubtedly powerful.

If there are dragons in this world, she must be stronger than a True Dragon. After all, she has dared to impersonate one, indicating she fears not this race.

Shen Zheng’an, somewhat dazed, sighed internally.

Now, he has few desires left, aside from one day being able to accompany her.

Firstly, he must repair his image and cleanse himself of the filth.

Zhu Wenjian, terrified, knelt before Ah Chen, ”Dragon King, please calm your anger. Lord Dragon King, please calm your anger.”

”It’s all him, this evil Taoist!” Zhu Wenjian pointed at Daoist Wu You, ”The evil Taoist claimed he could control water, impersonated the Water Dragon King, and orchestrated the consort selection. He’s taken most of the tributes over the years.”

Daoist Wu You snorted in disbelief; facing the True Dragon King, he was doomed either way. Since Zhu Wenjian had no integrity, he’d hold nothing back.

”This corrupt official hasn’t been short on benefits either. Anyone who defied him met a bad end. Years ago, someone questioned the Water Dragon King’s consort selection, and this official had me pretend to be the Water Dragon King in anger.”

Some townspeople remembered this incident and clamored. So that’s how it was!

The people of Laining County looked angrily at the two, realizing they had been deceived. Recalling the years of offerings and the girls chosen for the consort, many cursed them. Especially those related to the ”Dragon King’s Consort,” they cursed the two before breaking into tears, then knelt to Ah Chen, asking her to deliver justice.

Zhu Wenjian and Daoist Wu You turned on each other, listing the evil deeds they’d done over the years, leaving the city’s inhabitants bewildered.

Had they been able to reach them, they would have skinned them, drunk their blood, and broken their bones.

”So that’s how it is.”

”I hadn’t heard of the Dragon King needing a consort. Passing this realm, I became curious. Lucky I came, or else your actions would have tarnished the Dragon Clan’s reputation!”

”The Dragon Clan wouldn’t come to the mortal world for a consort,” Ah Chen gazed at the masses, ”nor would they oppress mortals or take lives. If similar events occur again, it will surely be for wealth or power, or the work of an Evil God—it should be eradicated. Keep that in mind.”

”Daoist Wu You, for impersonating the Dragon King, today I shall strip you of your abilities.”

Ah Chen raised a hand, nullifying Daoist Wu You’s cultivation while noticing the populace’s silent wish for his death.

She said, ”Someone appropriate will come to handle this later; earthly matters should be resolved by earthly people.”

”The waters here are not overseen by the Dragon Clan.”

”To manage the floods, you mortals must still put in the effort,” she added.

With that said, the woman in blue soared into the clouds, turning back into an Azure Dragon, disappearing in a blink.

The waters flooding the County Government returned to where they came from.

An ethereal water bridge seemed to span the sky, connecting the government building to the sea, where the water eventually flowed back.

Jiang Zhi and Shen Zheng’an, hidden in the shadows, knew it was time to act.

Otherwise, the townsfolk, realizing what had happened, might tear Zhu Wenjian and his accomplice apart.

Those two deserved death a thousand times over—letting them off so easily would be too lenient.
