She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!

Chapter 402: Chapter 401: Dying for the Princess Is Your Honor 21

After listening to Xue Shanhuai recount the events of the previous night, the Prime Minister’s wife was lost in thought for a long time. Soon, they would welcome the New Dynasty, and her husband would still be the Prime Minister.

The new Emperor is a good ruler, and it seems like her husband can finally realize his ambitions.

How wonderful, her husband has waited for most of his life, almost despairing, and finally, it’s happening.

”The situation hasn’t completely stabilized yet, Madam, you shouldn’t leave the house these days, lest some desperate individuals cause you harm,” Xue Shanhuai advised. This time, many people had to be killed, and they were all nobles. The common people would naturally cheer, but it wouldn’t be easy for those nobles. But they must be killed—their sins are too great, and rather than let them create trouble in the future, it’s better to eliminate them early.

Fan Shi, though inclined towards violence, thought the reasoning made sense. Without breaking, there can be no establishment; these tumors must be removed, or they will only hinder the New Dynasty.

The Emperor is not afraid of these things; being an old man, what is there for him to fear?

”Understood, my lord, I will instruct the others in the house not to go out recklessly, and the doors will remain closed,” the Prime Minister’s wife said. She understood well that at the beginning of a new dynasty, there would be many disturbances.

Although Bei Qi is unpopular, there are unknowingly many nobles involved. They wouldn’t be willing to fall just like that and were sure to do something.

Late at night, Ah Chen had already arranged for the people on Xue Shanhuai’s list to be captured. Some did flee because there were always those well-informed about the crisis and coincidentally not home, who, upon hearing the rumors, never returned.

She was not afraid of them coming to make trouble for her; it would be easier to deal with them if they did.

As for them spreading rumors about her being bloodthirsty, she was unapologetic. Given Bei Qi’s previous conduct, the number of people she killed was really insignificant, and she did not kill ordinary people—only the Bei Qi Royal Family and nobles. When the news spread, it was uncertain how many people would applaud.

She was also skilled in directing public sentiment.

Oh, there’s another person, Fan Shi, who was spreading rumors everywhere. Surely, the matter of her exterminating the royal family had already become the talk of the Capital City.

Just as Ah Chen had expected, every place in the Capital City was guarded by soldiers. At first, the people venturing out were somewhat apprehensive, as many powerful people in Bei Qi were not decent. There were good ones, but the one at the top was not good; even a few good officials could do nothing to change that.

They later discovered that these soldiers just stood there guarding without arresting anyone or shouting at them, which relieved them a bit. But they were still afraid to get close and left by the edges.

Later, upon reaching a corner, they noticed a crowd gathering and, driven by curiosity, squeezed through to listen, hearing...

”The Bei Qi Royal Family has been exterminated!”

”Really?” Someone asked incredulously, looking around and whispering, ”You are really bold; I saw many soldiers when I came by just now. If they hear you, your life might be in danger.”

”If the Bei Qi Royal Family has indeed been exterminated, why isn’t there a strict prohibition on people going out today, and why hasn’t anything else happened?”

”If such a big event had indeed happened, would we still be allowed to stroll down the streets by now?”

”Dynastic changes are no small matter, young man. I think you’re delusional.”

”The Bei Qi Royal Family truly has been exterminated. Haven’t you seen those soldiers guarding? It’s to prevent some nobles colluding with the Bei Qi Royal Family from causing trouble and harming the common people,” the young man said loudly. ”If you don’t believe it, you can wait or go to the Prime Minister’s Mansion and ask. The Prime Minister already supports the new Emperor. The extermination of the Bei Qi Royal Family is solely by the new Emperor. Her archery skills are so superior that even an Immortal would retreat.”

”And there’s another piece of news you probably wouldn’t dare believe—the new Emperor is a woman.”

The crowd looked at each other—how did this get more and more outrageous?

Is this person crazy?

But his demeanor was quite convincing.

”Last night, the criminal Song Kuo initially thought to toy with the new Emperor as usual, but who knew he’d be shot through the forehead in a blink of an eye by the new Emperor.”

”She first fired ten arrows at once, each hitting a person. Later, finding the bow inconvenient, she threw the arrows by hand. Those arrows seemed to have eyes, harming none she didn’t want to hurt; none of the ones she wanted to kill managed to escape.”

Listening to this young man tell the increasingly outrageous story, the crowd thought, even an Immortal would not be like this. This young man must have been badly bullied by the nobles, thus becoming delusional.

Luckily, no soldiers came here; if they had heard, would his life still be spared?

Similar scenes were happening all over the Capital City. Initially, no one believed it, but as it was spread everywhere, they found something unusual. Yet they still couldn’t believe such rumors were true.

Until later when they heard that criminals would be executed at noon in the vegetable market.

But before that, the criminals had to parade through the streets, with their crimes publicly announced, and then be executed in front of all the city’s people.

Hearing the news, people went to watch and indeed saw cart after cart of prisoners passing by, with soldiers escorting them, holding a book from which they were reading their crimes.

Someone recognized the leading cart, seeing it was the Seventh Prince of Bei Qi, the one frail in health but cruel in tactics, known for his fondness for beautiful young men.

There were many not recognized by the commoners, yet there were some familiar faces.

No matter, the soldiers pointed out their identities and what they had done. Although not seen, these people’s reputations were known to many.

At this point, the rumors were no longer doubted—it wasn’t a rumor but reality.

Once the public display was over, all criminals were taken to the vegetable market for execution.

Seeing these criminals being executed with their own eyes, the onlookers suddenly became emboldened, clapped, their faces showing excitement and relief, and some even had tears streaming down their faces.

”Who is the new Emperor? Is she truly a woman as the rumors say?” Whether or not she is a woman, achieving this already commanded their admiration—they were just curious because there had been few female Emperors in history.

”When will the new Emperor ascend the throne?”

”What is the New Dynasty’s state name?”

They shouted loudly, already impatient. In future introductions, they would claim to be citizens of the New Dynasty, not Bei Qi people.

A new Emperor who had annihilated the sinful Bei Qi Royal Family and nobles and announced their crimes publicly must be a good ruler.

”The New Dynasty’s state name is Canglan,” Fan Shi said from a high place, unfazed by the smell of blood in the air and instead finding today’s atmosphere exceedingly fresh. ”In future introductions when you go out, you may call yourself Canglan people.”

Although Fan Shi did not know why the Emperor chose the name ”Canglan,” as soon as those two words were uttered, he felt an immediate sense of warmth, immediately confirming that this was the name of the New Dynasty.
