She is the Side Character! — Watch Her Change her fate!

Chapter 257: Chapter 257: Must You Marry Your Savior After Being Rescued from the Water? (Part 28)

Shen Xuan had never felt so eager to complete tasks.

He was just an ordinary person, facing experts coming to annihilate his Shen Family, there was nothing he could do. Even with preparations, those intent on destroying the Shen Family would find every possible way, making it impossible to guard against.

It’s better to catch thieves proactively than to guard against them.

But as an ordinary person, the only option now was to undertake tasks, gain more information and rewards for the future, to truly help the Shen Family escape danger.

[Give me some tasks.] He said.

System: [Host, your main task in Lanru County is to check in at Lin Daming’s butcher shop, there are no others. Tasks like gaining Lin Daming’s goodwill are more random side tasks, which will only be triggered when you encounter relevant people. Even if you move to a new place, the main task remains check-in.]

Shen Xuan: Very well.

Once again, he wanted to lie flat.

When he learned that the Emperor was poisoned, Shen Xuan wasn’t very nervous. After all, it was a distant issue, he had no emotional ties to the Emperor, at most he would worry about disorder in the world.

But knowing that his family would be annihilated, he couldn’t help but be nervous, they were his kin.

He wasn’t a transmigrant, he was reincarnated with memories, everyone in the Shen Family was his family.

In his past life, he only had one brother who eventually left him too, but in this life, he had this family, harmonious and loving, he wouldn’t let them face such a catastrophe.

”Is there something wrong?” Ah Chen knew Shen Xuan’s situation, originally wanted to let him calm down, but since Lin Daming was around, she had to ask him.

Shen Xuan snapped back, shaking his head: ”No discomfort, just thought of something.”

”Encountered any difficulties?” Lin Daming asked. He was satisfied with Shen Xuan, naturally showing concern as this was his future son-in-law.

Shen Xuan felt the concern and was a bit touched.

In this life, he indeed had a good fate, being born into a decent family, meeting a girl he liked, whose father was also a good man.

Therefore, he must protect these blessings, ensuring they don’t get harmed.

[Can my future father-in-law defeat those experts out to kill my Shen Family?] Shen Xuan asked the system. If he could, he would still make preparations, bringing his future father-in-law along, as a precaution.

System: [Host, your future father-in-law is very powerful. As long as you’re prepared and with him around, those people won’t be able to annihilate the Shen Family. But it would be hard to capture them, since it’s only Lin Daming, he can’t pursue too much.]

[Host, seriously completing tasks will earn you rewards from the system, you could just knock out those people with drugs, the Soft Muscle Powder, have you heard of it? Even martial arts experts collapse upon contact.]

Shen Xuan felt a bit relieved: [Alright, I will. Show me the rewards, so I have something to look forward to.]

[It’s not that I’m not showing them, it’s set up this way, I’ll relay your feedback to the company, maybe they’ll consider updating it.]

Shen Xuan: [Alright then.]

Under Lin Daming’s gaze, Shen Xuan suddenly said, ”I’m thinking of learning some moves. Isn’t it said that the bandits in Lanru County are making a comeback? Even if I’m leading people, it’s always better to know a few moves to deal with them. But it’s hard to find a martial arts instructor on short notice.”

If his future father-in-law could teach him a few moves, that would be perfect.

[System, can you help me cheat? Improve my physique, make me a martial arts prodigy, learning immediately.] He asked in his mind.

System: [Host, you haven’t bothered to understand me, have you? If you had, you’d know that completing tasks earns you Attribute Points, which although won’t instantly turn you into a martial arts prodigy, can improve your physique. If you had started tasks earlier, you might have been able to handle average experts by now.]

Hearing the system, Shen Xuan glanced at it, then felt a bit regretful.

[Hmph, Host, you realize you missed a lot, don’t you?] The system finally felt a sense of triumph, though at the time it couldn’t speak due to restrictions.

Shen Xuan: [Actually, it’s alright, at least none of the tragedies happened, that’s enough.]

”If you’re willing to bear hardships, you can train with me,” Lin Daming said, ”Chenchen practices daily, you can train with her.”

As for whether his son-in-law would bully his daughter after learning?

Lin Daming felt like laughing heartily, regretting not teaching his daughter martial arts earlier, given her exceptional talent.

No matter how hard this son-in-law trains, he could never surpass Chenchen.

Besides, he had a good eye for people, Shen Xuan was decent.

[Host, Lin Daming’s goodwill towards you has reached 90!]

Shen Xuan was pleased: [Is there a reward?]

System: [No, rewards are given at 100.]

Shen Xuan: ...

Just when he thought things couldn’t get easier.

Shen Xuan immediately agreed to Lin Daming’s proposal, it was what he intended. No instructor was better than his future father-in-law, as the system assured him of his prowess.

After Shen Xuan left, Lin Daming looked at Ah Chen, hesitant to speak, as if he had something to say.

He felt his daughter’s talent shouldn’t be wasted, what he taught was too basic. Teaching something deeper, his previous excuse wouldn’t hold.

Now that his daughter was engaged to Shen Xuan, they might someday return to Capital City, and mastering martial arts would be useful for any emergencies, even escaping faster.

”Dad, what do you want to say?” Ah Chen had some guesses; Lin Daming might reveal his identity to her.

Lin Daming sighed, saying, ”Follow me.”

He planned to share later on about the origins, what was in his hand would eventually be told to Chenchen. Originally, it was meant for much later, but plans couldn’t catch up with changes.

Ah Chen obliged, following him inside.

”Chenchen, your dad isn’t just a simple butcher, he came from Capital City. Now that you’re engaged to Shen Xuan, you might return to Capital City. Of course, I don’t plan to reclaim my past identity, I wonder if you’ll blame me,” Lin Daming said hesitantly, ”If you had that identity, you’d be more suited with Shen Xuan, avoiding gossip.”

”However, getting involved with that family brings troubles, beyond the status, it may not be good for you.”

Ah Chen smiled: ”If it was an identity dad could abandon, it’s not that important, I’m just Lin Chen, daughter of butcher shop owner Lin Daming.”

Lin Daming was moved to tears, she truly was his daughter.

”In Capital City, there’s a Marquis Wu Yuan, my father, your grandfather, but the current Marchioness Wu Yuan isn’t your grandmother, she’s a high-status woman he married later,” Lin Daming sighed, ”I suppose you suspected that your grandmother didn’t have a high status, right? At least in their high society, your grandmother, my mother, wasn’t fit to be the proper wife of Marquis Wu Yuan.”
