Gun of Ashes

It was an indescribable eeriness and terror, as if all the nauseating things in the world were gathering at this moment, writhing slowly, releasing an exotic wail.

The indescribable creatures were covered in terrifying symbols, coming from the mist, continuously approaching the Demon Hunters, seeking absolute death and the silence of all things.

The resolute heart was slightly shaken. In the teachings of the Order, 042 attributed all anomalies to Demons, but now this power did not originate from Demons, but from another unknown force.

Fear arises from the unknown.

The Demon Hunters first trembled with awe, but still slowly gripped their Nail Swords, their eyes fierce, burning with fiery anger.

This is what sets them apart from ordinary people, they are Demon Hunters, skilled and cruel demon hunting experts.

Cowardice, compassion, weakness... they abandoned all human vices, walking with absolute reason on the battlefield of despair.

”We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”

016 murmured a prayer, her voice clear, seemingly the only light in the darkness.

In the next moment, the Demon Hunters leaped forward like ferocious tigers.

042 charged at the forefront, not looking directly at those bizarre entities, but using the corner of his eyes to observe their positions. Protected by Armor, he could be immune to most attacks.

The Nail Sword swung, bringing forth a curtain of spilled blood.

The crossbow arrow pierced the mist, one after another, casting silver light trails in the gray haze. Within this, 011 did not stop either. Unlike 042’s tank-like advance, he moved as lightly as a feather, amidst chaos, countless blades fell but merely grazed past him.

He gripped the Nail Sword, leaving cruel wounds on those bizarre creatures as he brushed past them.

Shangdafeng sheltered him, with the future already destined in his eyes, finding the path of survival between overlapping deaths.

042’s assault was fanatical, ignoring the enemy’s attacks. Dangerous blades fell, only to burst into sparks against the Armor. He swung back and forth, while hard material on the Armor grew along his arm towards the Nail Sword.

The enemy was not Demons, and the Holy Silver on the Nail Sword no longer had its targeted suppressive power, so he had to increase the range of destruction.

Indeed, Medanzo’s power was most suited for the front lines. Under the protection of Armor, they were the strongest chargers, difficult to repel with arrows or bullets.

Pitch-black hardness enveloped the Nail Sword, continuously growing, extending, lengthening it like a Great Sword.

042 swung forcefully, easily severing the enemy before him, blood gushing fiercely.

Essentially, Medanzo’s Authority does not forge Armor, but forms armor-like hard material on the body surface, which spreads a certain extent along with the extension of the body.

Gentle breaths leaked from under the Face Armor, wafting with a faint white mist.

The Great Sword, different from regular blades, is massive and heavy, hard to carry, but has immense intimidation. Of course, intimidation is unnecessary against these frenzied monsters.

Under such weapons, which ordinary people can hardly wield, conventional cold weapons are easily suppressed, even broken.

042 now only needs to increase the area and efficiency of damage, and this pitch-black Great Sword holds absolute advantage in the melee.

He slowly swung the Great Sword, like people often jest, the sword blade windmills slowly turned, its speed not fast.

But this was when 042 was most dangerous. Twisted beings launched attacks; 042 did not look at them, relying only on battle Intuition, suddenly accelerating the sword swinging speed.

The slow windmill seemed lifted by a fierce wind, the discernible blade swiftly turned into a pitch-black afterimage, slashing down in an instant.

This is actually a defensive stance, the Swordsman slowly swings the Great Sword, intimidating enemies, and can fiercely attack when enemies strike, or block and counterattack. But 042 needed none of that, with Armor protection, he required no defense, only constant offense and advancement.

Becoming a nightmare-like storm, the blade slashed through flesh and blood like a meat grinder.

This was a terrifying grand scene; he constantly compressed the enemies’ activity space. Although not inscribed with symbols that pressured the observer, 042’s ferocious momentum was like a Demon.

Just like previous battles, the battle was one-sided from the start. No matter how terrifying, when facing the absolutely rational Demon Hunters, the proud horror lost its effect.

With the Great Sword’s strike, blood wiped away the symbols’ marks, those creepy aberrations revealed their true form, as 042 expected: they were the residents here, or rather, the Believers of the Apocalypse Society.

Wiping away the symbols also erased the robe of fear. 016 passed by 042, two silver short swords flickering in succession. Unlike 011 and 042 who solely pursued killing, she thought more than them.

Perhaps due to Raphael’s Authority, this led 016 to vaguely guess the truth of Valley Town; she needed to conduct some experiments on these people.

Her figure agile, sliding on the ground then leaping, severing people’s tendons, inserting into joints’ gaps, depriving them of mobility.
