A Journey That Changed The World.

Chapter 1275: Four? Isn’t It Three Babies

’’Do you know what it’s like to grow up without a parent’s love, elf?’’ Archer asked without looking at her while watching a massive eel swimming by before snatching a fish.

She shook her head and answered honestly. ’’No… my parents were always busy, but they were good to me and my siblings.’’

Nayeli watched as he nodded to himself after looking at her. Seconds later, he exhaled, his gaze distant. ’’When I woke up from an incident at thirteen, I was lost, angry, teetering on the edge of breaking. But Sera found me… she brought me back from becoming this world’s enemy.’’

His violet eyes darkened, shadows of the past flickering within them before shaking his head. ’’Even then, I’ve never been the same since gaining my powers, but I’ve balanced everything and calmed myself down thanks to the help of all the women.’’

’’What do you mean, not the same? What was different about you?’’ Nayeli asked, curiosity getting the better of her.

Archer turned to her with a knowing smile, and she instantly regretted her questions. Her body tensed as she internally scolded herself. ’I overdid it again! We’re not friends. How can I ask such a thing?’

His laughter rang out when he saw how worried she looked as her eyes widened in shock. ’’You make me laugh, Nayeli,’’ he said while reaching for a bottle and pouring her a drink.

’’Here, take some,’’ he offered, handing her a cup of wine. ’’This stuff is delicious. It will calm you down so we can talk.’’

Archer’s behaviour confused Nayeli, but he reassured her with an honest smile. ’’I have no bad feelings toward you. There’s no point getting angry over what was said, its not like you know the background between me or the girls.’’

He watched the nervous white-haired elf tremble slightly, causing him to sigh before giving her something to ensure she calmed down. ’’I swear on the mana of this world that I hold no ill will toward you Nayeli Moonriver. I don’t plan on hurting you unless you betray me.’’

When the woman heard this, her eyes widened in shock, but she visibly relaxed before he answered her previous questions. ’’I was a bookworm who didn’t socialize with anyone apart from Ella and her mother.’’

Archer smiled at her while looking out over the lake and sensing dozens of monsters just under the surface who were staring at Nayeli, causing him to think. ’Why are they targeting her? She’s my guest.’

He stood up once again before placing his hand on the elf and sending a stream of mana into her body while announcing to the lake monsters. ’’She’s with me and stops watching her like she’s dinner. If you try anything, I’ll turn you into food.’’

Suddenly the water exploded as the creatures fled into the depths, causing him to complain while shaking his head. ’’They still need to learn the Domains rules. The things tried attacking Demacia, of all people and she even scares me sometimes.’’

Archer leaned back, watching as she dropped to her knees to apologize, which made him sigh. His jaw tightened in irritation before he let out a low growl. ’’Stop it, or I’ll throw you in the water.’’

Nayeli’s eyes widened as she looked up at him with fear radiating from her. ’’But… you can’t harm me?’’ she asked hesitantly.

He rolled his eyes, taking a swig of his wine. ’’Oh, shut up and drink your wine, woman. I was joking with you’’ he muttered before downing the rest of his own.

’’Thank you for being so kind,’’ she suddenly said. ’’Even though I don’t blame you for hating me.’’

Archer started laughing before shaking his head. ’’No, I don’t hate you, I couldn’t care less as there are four things more important than misunderstandings.’’

’’Four? Aren’t there three babies?’’ Nayeli asked with curious blue eyes.

’’There’s another woman who’s pregnant,’’ he revealed with a big smile. ’’She’s back home, getting looked after by my other wives.’’

Following that, the two continued talking and Archer learned Nayeli was a skilled warrior that’s trained all her life. This earned his respect as he complimented the woman. ’’I can feel that you’re strong, warrior women are a weakness of mine.’’

’’I thought you were into the more curvy and delicate women, to be honest,’’ Nayeli answered with a giggle. ’’Didn’t know you liked muscular women.’’

’’Do you take me for an uncultured man, elf,’’ Archer replied with a smirk, his violet eyes gleaming with amusement. ’’I love all kinds of women. There’s Teuila and Talila, both built like you, and I cherish them with all my heart. Just as I do, Ella.’’

Nayeli nodded with a smile before saying something that surprised him. ’’How wrong was I to judge a whale by its size? My parents always told me not to do it but it’s become a habit since meeting the Alliance diplomats.’’

She noticed his expression change, causing her to answer. ’’What’s wrong?’’ Experience new tales on .Côm

’’I’ve heard a similar saying: Don’t judge a book by its cover,’’ Archer revealed while sipping some wine. ’’I like your one though, it’s different.’’

The two of them continued chatting for hours until the moon was shining overhead. While sitting there, Nayeli let out a yawn before standing up with numb legs. ’’As much as I love talking to you, I need some sleep after today’s event.’’

’’I’ll teleport you there. Monsters are all around us and some of them are horrifying,’’ he warned.

When the water elf heard this, she stiffened, but Archer held out his hand. ’’I’ll walk you back.’’

Following that, the duo started walking back to the treehouse as he led her through the dark forest as noises appeared all around them. He ignored them, but Nayeli glanced around and stiffened as red eyes gazed back.

She tugged at his hand while asking in a quiet voice. ’’What are these things?’’

’’Nightwalkers,’’ he replied as he stopped walking and raised his hand. ’’My necromancer wives created them.’’

Archer cast Mana Manipulation, which lit up the surrounding area and pushed back the darkness. The light revealed towering humanoid creatures lurking in the shadows. They stood at eight feet tall, their elongated limbs ending in razor-sharp claws.

Coarse brown fur covered their bodies, blending seamlessly with the dense forest. Hollow, predatory eyes locked onto them, and an eerie stillness filled the air. Nayeli yelped in fear as she grabbed his arm.

’’They are looking at me like I’m a rabbit,’’ she muttered while tightening his grip on him.

Archer chuckled before waving his hand and the Nightwalkers vanished into the shadows, which made the elf woman calm down. They continued walking while he explained. ’’These monsters are part of my army that I’m using against the Swarm.’’

When Nayeli heard this, a curious expression appeared on her pretty face. ’’What is that?’’ she asked.

’’Another faction who controls the Alliance from the shadows,’’ he revealed before waving his hand. ’’Look at this and you’ll see proof.’’

Archer showed her a few scenes of his encounters with the horde of creatures, which surprised the elf woman. She shook her head and spoke in a confused voice. ’’There’s been four holes like that pop up across the empire.’’

He raised an eyebrow at her words. ’’I’ll talk to Colestah and get the locations,’’ he said firmly. ’’They need to be destroyed before the hordes appear.’’

Following that, the duo arrived back at the treehouse where the group of women were speaking. When they noticed Nayeli was smiling, their eyes found him and he blew them a kiss.

’’Colestah, mark on a map the four holes that appeared in your realm,’’ Archer asked. ’’I want to go close them before the Swarm ambushes from the west.’’

The empress looked confused, but her cousin whispered into her eyes, which made her nod while handing over one. ’’This one has the locations and thank you for everything, but we’ll have to leave soon. I have duties to attend to.’’

When Archer heard this, he offered. ’’Do you want me to fly to your palace so I can open a Gate for you? Or do you prefer to travel by road?’’

’’We’ll travel by road. I like to see the land as we pass through,’’ she replied. Then, meeting his gaze, she added, ’’But to answer your question, if you heal my land and help my people, we will stand with you against the Alliance.’’

Archer’s smile widened at her words. ’’The food will arrive in a few days, and I’ll begin healing the Moonriver Empire,’’ he assured her. Then, with a raised eyebrow, he asked, ’’But how do I know you won’t betray me?’’

Colestah stepped closer as she motioned for him to lean in. Archer obliged, lowering his head just enough for her soft lips to graze his ear. ’’Why would I risk my chance with a man like you?’’

She whispered, her voice smooth and teasing. ’’I’d be a fool… unless, of course, you don’t like me. In that case, we can just be friends.’’
