Back to the 1980s: Becoming the Villain's Lucky Wife

A strong, hardworking, and gentle woman who was also exceptionally good to her child.

She was worlds better than the former Third Aunt, Feng Lan!

Qin Jiao thought for a moment and said, ”Dad, Aunt Jiang is still working at her old noodle shop. How about we ask her to work here, so she can get to know Uncle? If they hit it off and get along, they might get together without us having to do anything. And if they’re not meant to be, then there’s even less for us to do.”

Qin Zhonghui nodded. ”That sounds like a good plan.”

Qin Jiao quickly told Jiang Xiaoyue about the idea and asked for her thoughts.

Jiang Xiaoyue said, ”Sure, let’s have them meet. Who knows, they might not even get along.”

Qin Jiao replied, ”That’s what I was thinking too.”

To be honest, Qin Jiao had no experience playing matchmaker for her elders. The most she could do was arrange for them to work near each other; beyond that, there wasn’t much she could do.

After all, marriage is like a pair of shoes.

Only the person wearing them knows if they fit.

When Jiang Ling got home and heard about it from her daughter, Jiang Xiaoyue, she fell silent for a moment before sighing. ”Xiao Yue, does this mean the Qin Family doesn’t think we’re good enough?”

”Mom, what are you talking about? Xiao Jiao isn’t like that. Besides, we’ve known them for so long, and I think the Qin Family are all very easy to get along with. Maybe Uncle Qin San has his own concerns and doesn’t want to get married right now. But Xiao Jiao said you two could just spend some time together and get to know each other. Who knows, he might suddenly realize my mom is a great wife and mother, perfect marriage material, you know?”

Jiang Ling blushed.

She said, ”Honestly, at my age... I’m already pushing fifty. It doesn’t really matter whether I get married or not. Once you’re settled down with a family and have kids, I can just help you two by looking after the baby, cooking, and doing laundry. You young couple can just focus on your jobs.”

”Mom, my other half is who-knows-where. You’ve suffered so much for my sake all these years. Now that life is better, I just want you to be happy and healthy every day. As for Uncle Qin San, if it works out, you can be together. If not, that’s fine too. You can’t force matters of the heart.”

Jiang Ling did have a good impression of Qin Jiqun, so after hearing her daughter’s words, she stopped resisting the idea and nodded.

Jiang Ling thought that if Qin Jiqun didn’t like her, she would drop the matter immediately.

She wasn’t the type to cling to someone.

’But what if Qin Jiqun really did have some concerns?’

After working together at Jiuyi for a while, they greeted each other every day and exchanged a few words. Once they were more familiar with one another, it happened that one day they were alone in the back kitchen. Jiang Ling took the initiative and asked, ”Ji Qun, you’re only in your early forties. Have you ever thought about remarrying?”

When Qin Zhonghui first mentioned it to Qin Jiqun, he hadn’t said who it was, so Qin Jiqun had no idea that Jiang Ling was the one being set up with him.

His complexion was a bit dark, and he looked much older than forty.

The things he had been through had left deep marks of time on both his face and his heart.

Qin Jiqun gave a helpless, bitter smile. ”Sister Ling, look at my situation. How could I even think about getting married again? Wouldn’t that just be asking someone to suffer along with me? I’ve been to prison, I’ve injured my leg, and my son is still in jail. To be honest, I’m working hard and saving money for my son. With circumstances like mine, who would ever want me?”

Jiang Ling almost blurted out, ’I would.’
