Chapter 1310: Chapter 442: Employment (Part 2)

If the perspective shifted to the Spiritual Greyhound behind Rein, you would see that, although Rein didn’t appear to be moving quickly, his figure left multiple afterimages in an instant, which were actually mere illusions.

His real body had long since bypassed various trees and vines, advancing dozens of meters ahead.

Thus, the Blood Feather in the sky was manageable, but on the ground, Qu Qi, following behind Rein, was truly exhausted!

Before long, as Qu Qi sprinted, it stuck its tongue out, panting uncontrollably, and white steam emanated from its fur, showing it was giving its all.

Yet, even so, Qu Qi helplessly discovered that four legs couldn’t outrun two, as its master’s figure grew further away.

Fortunately, every time Rein encountered remains of a campfire or signs of camping, he would stop to observe for a moment, giving Qu Qi a chance to catch up again.

At this moment, a campsite came into Rein’s view.

There were marks of seven or eight campfires on the ground, distinctly different from the previous concealed campsites.

This campsite had not been hidden at all, and around the long-extinguished campfires were scattered food remnants and various empty bottles.

Clearly, this was most likely left by some Slave Capturing Team.

The relatively loose discipline and abundant food variety indicated the presence of a considerable number of logistics personnel.

The Slave Capturing Team and the Cultist team newly arriving in Ferdinand Forest had clear differences in mindset and preparation, making it easy to distinguish between them.

Rein followed the traces left by the other party, looking deep into the dense forest, and saw that their route was not heading towards Basaran, but to the northwest of Ferdinand Forest.

”In this direction, it should be another Elf Town, Bellamese.” Rein quickly drew a conclusion by comparing their route with the map in his mind.

”Indeed, as that guy said, the Slave Capturing Team and the Cult have reached some sort of limited cooperation, or rather, a strange balance, each dividing a territory.”

At this moment, the thin piece in Rein’s bosom vibrated again.

Rein immediately took out the thin piece and infused a trace of spiritual power.

”Captain Rein, respond if you hear this!” Claire’s slightly anxious voice came through the thin piece.

”This is Rein, Claire, go ahead.”

”Captain, thank goodness! We’ve finally made contact with you again!” Claire was instantly relieved!

”It’s like this, you must be extra cautious with the Secret Snake Sect; their Vice Pope Quirut is an Epic-level powerhouse, and... as for the specific intelligence on other evil cults, we are still gathering it...” Claire spoke quickly, seemingly worried the transmission might be interrupted again.

”I got it. Right, Claire, I have two situations on my side, have Olena report to headquarters...”

Rein briefly relayed the information obtained from the interrogation here.

”Lord Rein, I am right next to Claire, the situation you mentioned is very important, and I will report it to headquarters immediately.” At this moment, the voice of the capable Olena came through the thin piece.

”Hmm, let’s do that for now.”

”Alright, Lord Rein, you must be careful!”

....

Just as Rein hung up the thin piece, the Spiritual Greyhound Qu Qi finally panted its way out of the dense forest, catching up to its master.

However, in the next second, it was dumbfounded again!

Because Qu Qi saw that its master, Rein, seemed to be checking everything and quickly moved forward again, leaving several afterimages on the spot once more.

This instantly made Qu Qi bark, urgently sprinting off to follow.

However, such rapid advancement was not without benefits.

Typically, a journey that would take one or two days was compressed by Rein into less than two hours.

At this moment, Rein and the hound had already arrived at the outskirts of Elf Town Basaran. Yet, the dog following behind, like it had been pulled from water, was soaked with sweat and its fur wet and soggy.

For a Fierce Species known for its speed to be exhausted to this degree, Rein’s traveling speed was imaginable.

In truth, Rein hadn’t been pushing at full speed, and he had stopped multiple times to observe the enemy’s tracks.

But the Basaran in front of Rein was completely different from the peaceful and beautiful Elf Town he had imagined. It now seemed battle-scarred, with most of the buildings showing signs of damage, and many of the exquisite spires had collapsed.

The statue standing in the square fountain at the end of the main road was also severely damaged, and the ground was pothole-ridden, clearly indicating the town had experienced intense fighting.

This made Rein’s heart sink!

Suddenly, Rein looked up towards the street beside him.

He saw four individuals in black robes walking towards him, bearing different snake markings on their robes, clearly members of the Secret Snake Sect, who, for some reason, remained here.

”Oh? I thought you were an Elf Clan escapee, but I didn’t expect you to be from the Slave Capturing Team.”

They were part of a squad responsible for capturing escapees from Basaran Town.

”Kid, this isn’t a place for you,” two Secret Snake Sect members casually raised their hands, attempting to shoo him away.

And just by lifting his eyes, Rein clearly sensed these individuals’ strengths, which were a Second Level and First Level Peak Evil Sorcerer, evidently subordinates from the information he had obtained, indicating they were of no actual threat.

This kind... was of no interrogative value at all.

There was no need to ask about the main force’s tracks, as Rein could track them down.
