Re:Zero: Wrath Route Yandere Emilia Watches the Projection

[But still, it was fine—when it came to working as a maid, Frederica was quite skilled at it.

Just quietly carrying out the sovereign’s tasks, the days were bearable enough.

It was only that—

In the moment when Frederica had set down the lunch she’d prepared for the sovereign and was about to leave the room.

Suddenly, her gaze fell upon a name written in a registry laid out before the sovereign.

It was a name she knew all too well—’Frederica’—and beside the name lay a single coin.

The instant she saw that coin, Frederica’s mind seemed pierced through by terror, going utterly blank.

Stiffly she raised her head, only to find the sovereign’s pitch-black eyes, brimming with despair, calmly fixed upon her.

”Clink!”

As the crisp sound of the coin rang out, Frederica’s pupils suddenly contracted. She opened her mouth wanting to say something, but from her throat came only a trembling quaver.

The young sovereign’s indifferent gaze shifted to the coin that had already landed in his hand. He glanced at it, then lightly clapped his hands together and said.

”Congratulations, it’s heads—Frederica, your little brother Garfiel and your grandmother Ryuzu are both safe.”

”Now, go wait outside.”

Hearing this, Frederica only nodded numbly, then turned stiffly like a puppet and, step by step, walked out of the room.

Only after she carefully closed the door did Frederica’s body go limp, and she slumped down to her knees right at the sovereign’s doorway.

Wretchedly she gasped for air in great mouthfuls, breathing in the fresh air, yet because she had taken in too much air she began to suffer a touch of respiratory alkalosis.

”Cough, cough, cough, cough!”

Frederica coughed softly twice, and then warm tears slid down her cheeks.

”Why does it have to be like this? How much longer will days like these go on…?”]

This truly is yet another testament to the Purge King’s cruelty.

Everyone continued watching.

[”There’s a traitor among us, and the Kingdom of Lugnica has also decided to come and destroy the society.”

The Blue Lightning, Cecilus Segmunt, put away the secret letter and spoke to Halibel, who was concealing himself behind him.

Just now, Cecilus had secretly met in private with a former colleague—one of the Vollachia Empire’s Nine Divine Generals—and received this news.

It was only that he hadn’t expected his colleague to be so careless as to have been followed all the way here.

Still, it didn’t matter—after all, he himself had not betrayed anyone.

The reason Cecilus had joined under the Purge King was that he’d heard Natsuki Subaru tell him he could fulfill his ideals and ambitions, promising to bring him truly formidable foes, enough for him to catch even a sliver of a chance to break through into the realm of ”selflessness, the unity of man and sword.”

And so he had decided to resign from the Empire—that part, of course, was no lie.

And the Emperor of the Vollachia Empire naturally understood his general’s carefree attitude toward life, so he had readily let the man go.

Thus, he had a clear conscience—after all, he was simply that kind of forthright man.

What piqued his curiosity, though, was Halibel on the other side, who, the moment he saw him meeting privately with the secret envoy, had devoted himself wholeheartedly to keeping watch over him.

Could it be that the other man was so loyal to the Purge King?

”Cecilus… brother… if I absolutely must give an answer, then my answer is only one.”

The male beastman’s long, narrow eyes welled up with the color of memory.

It was after Natsuki Subaru had fled the manor, coming to the Kararagi city-states and resolving a crisis that had broken out there.

And it was precisely this act that successfully won Halibel’s trust and loyalty.

All this time, Halibel had resolved to travel alongside Natsuki Subaru up to now, all to repay that debt of gratitude.]

”Ah, so that’s how Big Brother got these two subordinates. But resolving a whole country’s crisis? Since when did Big Brother become so kindhearted?”

Meili tapped the corner of her mouth with a finger, speaking in puzzlement.

”So that’s the method he used—I’ll remember it. When the time comes I’ll tell the Mr. Natsuki in reality, though I wonder whether he’ll be able to win over these two experts that way?”

Otto was the first to catch on. In this world, it seemed Mr. Natsuki was destined to head toward ruin.

But if that’s the case, could his experiences be of any help to the Mr. Natsuki in reality right now?

That point was worth trying… after all, it was a deal that could only profit, never lose!

[In this world, there existed four great kingdoms: the northern Sacred Kingdom of ’Gusteko,’ the southern Empire of ’Vollachia,’ the western city-states of ’Kararagi,’ and the eastern dragon-allied Kingdom of ’Lugnica.’

Under the tyrannical atrocities and lawless deeds of the Purge King and his ’Pleiades’ society, the peoples of the four great nations suffered grievous harm.

By outward count alone, the victims numbered one hundred and twenty-six thousand, seven hundred and two!

And so the four great nations could bear it no longer, and at last resolved to send forth troops to subjugate that ’Purge King’!

Even the dragon-allied Kingdom of Lugnica, which had acknowledged never being the first to deploy Reinhard abroad in war, now broke that rule, with the unanimous agreement of the other three nations…]

”They actually deployed Reinhard?”

Felt’s mouth fell slightly open, somewhat astonished.

As the wife of Natsuki Subaru, the ’King’ of the Kingdom of Lugnica, and an indisputable member of the royal family, she understood better than anyone the weight Reinhard carried among the nations.

Even the foremost of the Empire’s Nine Divine Generals, now a member of the Pleiades—the ’Blue Lightning’ Cecilus—would only be effortlessly defeated by Reinhard.

Of course, the other nations were no fools; such a national treasure of an existence was strictly guarded and heavily fenced against.

And so they had banded together, determined to force the Kingdom of Lugnica to sign a contract forbidding Reinhard from ever leaving his own country—only then would they relent.

Yet now, the other three great kingdoms had actually unanimously agreed to the request for Reinhard to leave Lugnica and strike at Pandaemonium in a lightning raid.

From this it could be seen just how deeply the three great kingdoms had been poisoned by the Purge King and his running dogs—it was truly a chorus of grievance and complaint!

[Within this resplendent, golden hall where countless people had been beheaded and slain.

A gray-haired youth dressed in a black suit stood composedly before the Purge King, a smile hanging on his face.

His features were gentle and his gaze tender, yet in the depths of his eyes lurked a profound darkness.

Rumor had it throughout the world that what the Purge King loved most was mana crystal, and so the gift brought by this envoy from the Kingdom of Lugnica was precisely a batch of the finest-quality mana crystal.]

”Wait, that man up there… isn’t that you, Brother Otto?!”

Outside the scene, Garfiel gaped in astonishment, glancing back and forth between the screen and Otto, looking utterly stunned.

”So Brother Otto is just like that old merchant from before—coming to present gifts to join this society?”

Garfiel worked his brain with difficulty, stroking his chin as he guessed.

”Hah… Garf, you’re different from other people—whatever you do, never waste your time on thinking.”

Otto pressed a hand to his forehead helplessly and said with a sigh.

”Huh? Do you really think I can’t tell you’re calling me stupid? Hmph, but a brainy type like you—I’m impressed! So you said it, whatever!”

Garfiel curled his lip speechlessly, not wanting to stoop to Brother Otto’s level.
