Re:Zero: Wrath Route Yandere Emilia Watches the Projection

”I’m certain now—this so-called little game is really not anything normal. Even the little maid in the manor, Miss Petra, has turned into something like this.”

Otto said, his expression grave.

”No—this might not even be Miss Petra at all. What kind of monster is this...?”

Otto searched through every corner of his memory but couldn’t find any information corresponding to such a bizarre creature.

”This, is, an Imitation Human.”

Suddenly, a halting and unfamiliar voice reached Otto’s ears.

”An Imitation Human... it seems to refer to a monster disguised as a human. But I’ve never heard of such a thing as an Imitation Human before.”

Otto rubbed his chin and picked up the thread, speaking in puzzlement.

And his words seemed to flip some kind of switch—the people in the seats around him all echoed the voice from before.

”Imitation Humans—we all know about them.”

”Right, Imitation Humans exist precisely to disguise themselves as humans.”

”As expected, humans really are clever.”

Otto frowned, feeling rustling whispers stirring at his ears—he couldn’t make them out clearly, but inexplicably his heart filled with unease.

He was just about to turn around and check the situation when he heard Natsuki Subaru cry out within the screen.

It seemed his exploration of the first floor had made new progress.

So Otto hurriedly pulled himself together and returned his attention to the screen.

At this moment, in Natsuki Subaru’s first-person view, he had at some point arrived in the spacious hall on the first floor, and from a table set in the center of the hall he had picked up a notebook that looked extremely mysterious.

A pure black cover—even though there were no other patterns on it at all, it gave off a strange, discordant feeling... was it a problem with the material?

Compared to Otto’s bewilderment over here, Natsuki Subaru’s reaction upon seeing this book was far greater.

”Isn’t this the damn Gospel? Why the hell would it be sitting right in the very center of the first-floor hall?”

Natsuki Subaru jolted, almost unable to suppress the impulse to step forward and rip the book apart.

He cursed his rotten luck inwardly. The sight of this book made him subconsciously think of the person who had made it—no, he should say the witch, the [Witch of Greed], Echidna.

At the same time, Natsuki Subaru realized that the Gospel appearing before him now was by no means a coincidence.

But, that couldn’t be right?

Natsuki Subaru was confused—at this point in time he hadn’t yet gone to the Sanctuary, so how could there be such a huge deviation from his memories?

It had been the same before—Zarestia, one of the legendary great spirits, had attacked the village for no reason at all.

Which step exactly had gone wrong, to bring about today’s situation?

Even dying would be fine, but at the very least, let him obtain some information about these changes?

But, there was nothing.

Not a single clue. Right now he couldn’t even find a single person to talk to.

—Why? Why? Why?

Natsuki Subaru fell silent, and in his bewilderment, without realizing it, he walked up to the table in the center of the hall and picked up the Gospel placed upon it.

His hand, hanging in midair, hesitated for a moment, but in the end it came down, opening this black book.

However, the next instant Natsuki Subaru’s eyes were filled with astonishment.

Blank, blank, still blank!

On this book, the snow-white pages held not a single word, as if it were merely a blank book that someone had casually left here.

How could it be...

Natsuki Subaru frowned. With this, the only source he had for gaining information about his current situation and that bizarre scene from just now was now lost as well.

Next... what was he supposed to do?

As if sensing the thoughts in Natsuki Subaru’s heart at this moment, the originally wordless black book began to move on its own without any wind, its pages rustling and flipping.

At last, the ceaselessly turning pages slowly came to a stop.

And upon the once-blank page, line after line of faintly glowing script surfaced out of thin air.

[My name is Natsuki Subaru, the one and only otherworldly traveler above the heavens and below the earth, but by the time you read these words, I am already dead...]

Seeing this, Natsuki Subaru went cold all over, and looking down at the black book cradled in his hands, his pupils couldn’t help contracting slightly.

”Do all Gospels... start like this? Seriously creepy—it actually imitates my own way of talking to write things down.”

Natsuki Subaru forced down the urge to tear the book before him to shreds and hurl it to the ground.

The script surfacing on the book, with that chuunibyou tone, really was exactly as if he himself were writing his own farewell note.

This feeling of witnessing with his own eyes the fact that he was ”already dead” was truly nauseating.

But immediately after, the first sentence that surfaced below it in this book firmly seized hold of his mind.

[I have lost the ability of ”Return by Death,” and I even once lost my memory and forgot the cause of it all.]

[This is something I only remembered shortly before my death. Unfortunately, by that point everything was already beyond saving...]

The two bombshell pieces of news at the very start exploded in Natsuki Subaru’s heart like detonating bombs.

The favoritism that seemed to come from the Witch of Envy upon him, and Return by Death—both had actually vanished? Could something have happened to the Witch of Envy, Satella?

Besides that, did the memory loss written in the book refer to his current state? He clearly felt that many changes had taken place in the manor, yet he knew nothing about them.

Natsuki Subaru’s heart clenched—this was bad; it seemed everything fit together.

So he hurriedly let his gaze chase after the newly surfacing script as it kept moving.

[But fortunately, after going through all sorts of events, I finally have the chance to tell you—you who in the past have already forgotten everything—the truth about this world like this. So, listen carefully to what comes next!]

[This world has already undergone an unimaginable transformation, ever since that day when we drove back the great spirit Zarestia, who in her frenzy chased all the way to the manor.]

[For some reason, the villagers taking shelter in the manor underwent unimaginable changes—the very same frenzy, the very same killing.]

[Yet the bizarre part was that even though, left with no choice, we struck down those frenzied villagers, after every single night, villagers still kept dying, one after another!]

[It was as if the ”frenzied ones” deliberately disguised themselves—by day knowing nothing, just like normal villagers, and by night taking up the bloody butcher’s blade.]

[Ram, Rem, Emilia... everyone in the manor tried to stop this terrifying calamity. Unfortunately, the situation soon spiraled completely out of control...]

[Those dead frenzied ones crawled out of the ground and disguised themselves as the living. Before long the villagers grew fewer and fewer, and those monsters began to set their sights on us as well.]

[But when it comes down to it, this pack of monsters can only revive once. However, just as we steeled our resolve and were about to wipe out this pack of monsters in one fell swoop, the highest combat power of the manor, Roswaal... went mad!]

It wasn’t until Natsuki Subaru read the bombshell news of Roswaal going mad that he finally came back to his senses from one shock after another.

But don’t get the wrong idea—he wasn’t worried for Roswaal; he was worried for everyone else in the manor!

Though he didn’t want to admit it, Roswaal’s strength ranked among the very top even in this other world.

So the moment he went on a rampage, the manor would likely fall in an instant...
