Chapter 552: Chapter 282: Do These Players Want to Defy the Celestial Spirit?

”Hey, don’t... glug, I’m really... glug... not a bad person...”

At the junction of the stream and the underground water, Demacia stretched his head inside to watch the mermaids, and was hit by weak water currents washing over his face. Every time he spoke, he swallowed a large gulp of water, looking a bit embarrassed.

Feeling his Life Value starting to decline, Demacia pulled his head back, wiped his face, and water droplets continued to drip from his hair.

[What to do? They seem to be in a state of ’I don’t listen, I don’t listen.’]

[Remember Lixting?]

[Black Dragon? They’re just kids... That’s not right, is it?]

Guard Brigade: [.... Then forget it.] ℯℯ𝘭.

Demacia: [Just joking, hehe...]

”How’s it going? Did you find them?”

The voice of Guard Brigade echoed from the cave entrance, immediately causing the terrified mermaids to dive into the underground lake.

Demacia said helplessly, ”I found them, but they’re too cautious.”

”No choice, for some people, mermaid tears and tails are top-notch materials, but we have to save them. Evil mages have already heard about this place, and we’re running out of time.”

”What about it?” Demacia was a bit tense, clearly entering the mindset.

”How about, just forget it?”

”No way!” Demacia refused decisively: ”I’m a Summoner, and I can clearly feel their kindness and confusion. Just wait a bit, I can do it.”

”Then hurry up, if those mages come, we’re in trouble.”

Demacia pursed his lips, ignoring Guard Brigade, and once again moved his head closer.

Now, the small underground lake was completely silent, with only occasional freshwater fish scrambling for the fruit juice mixed in the water.

It seemed their display had no effect.

Demacia’s voice was a bit worried: ”We really are good people, if you can still hear, please return to the sea, it’s too dangerous for you on land. But you can also talk to me about why you’re here, perhaps I can find a way to help you?”

There was no response. Demacia didn’t rush, and he sat directly in the water. He thought about his limited edition weapon given by Baiyi, capable of releasing a massive but low-damage arc, perhaps he could use it to electrocute them out?

This tempting idea emerged, but Demacia quickly suppressed it. The mermaids were already wary enough; any harmful move might drive them away.

Who knows if the underground river connects elsewhere.

However, the barrier outside that prevents creatures from approaching told Demacia this was a temporary base for the mermaids and likely wouldn’t be moved easily.

Demacia kept talking to himself, attempting to gain the trust of the mermaids.

But the mermaids never emerged again.

The sound of faint nibbling arose, and Demacia slightly shifted his gaze. On the underground lake’s edge, a little mermaid was nibbling on fruit.

After making eye contact with Demacia, the mermaid was startled and quickly shrank back.

Demacia rambled on with numerous arguments, explaining how helpful the Dawn People were, how good life was under the Federation’s laws.

Even goblins could live in the Federation.

Boom!

About an hour later, Boom!

Outside the cave, powerful magic waves abruptly erupted, and Guard Brigade was slammed hard against the barrier, spitting out a mouthful of blood.

”Demacia... go... he... is here...”

A weak voice sounded, and Demacia’s expression changed, seeing that the little bit of trust he’d gained from the mermaids was quickly withdrawn due to the commotion.

His face was full of struggle, and finally, as if making a decision: ”They’re too small. I want to... try...”

He turned his head gently and said: ”You guys should find a way to leave...”

With those words, he activated some low-level summoning technique, and some plants faintly appeared, then left resolutely without looking back.

From the underground lake, little heads popped out to watch his back, their eyes a bit flustered, seeming to want to say something, but didn’t due to fear.

Boom~ boom boom...

Magic waves outside were suddenly intensified, seemingly escalating the battle. The terrifying aura of Silver Middle Tier felt like a catastrophic oppression to the young mermaids.

One by one, mermaids extended their heads out from the junction of the stream and underground lake, their pure eyes filled with anxiety.

Boom boom boom...

The intensifying magic outside raged wildly, and some summoned creatures’ corpses suddenly flew inside, crashing into the lake, losing their vitality.

Death was close at hand, and the little mermaids’ eyes were full of fear.

They instinctively purified the toxins of plant-type summoned creatures and avoided the corpses, letting them be devoured by herbivorous fish.

They couldn’t do anything, only watching in increasing unease.

Someone had told them this place was safe; no need to escape until the shield was broken, only creatures without malice could enter.

But... that person was outside the barrier!

The mermaid who had first met Demacia couldn’t hold back, and a very naive, pure voice appeared: ”Demacia... quickly... come in...”

Boom boom boom...

The magic bombardment outside suddenly intensified another level.

The mermaid couldn’t stand it anymore; she swam into the stream, planning to go to the barrier and call out to the stranger exuding a natural aura.
