Seizing the BOSS Template at the Start

Chapter 214: Chapter 133: Preparations Before Departure

Fine droplets of rain were falling from the sky, and some stalls began to open their large umbrellas.

The cool air, laced with slight dampness, wasn’t enough to make the Transcendents uncomfortable.

Baiyi looked at the time; it was already late October. After a few bouts of rain, winter would arrive. Time really flies.

Baiyi hailed a cab and headed towards the transformation base.

The base of the Wucheng Army was not far from the gates of the four city gates, the Storm Legion’s base was beside the East City Gate, the Apocalypse Legion’s base was in the Inner City District, and the Modified Legion was not far from the west wall of the Inner City.

This legion primarily served as support, vanguard, and trump card, so it didn’t need to be as close to the Outer City; instead, the Inner City needed their protection more.

Thus, it took Baiyi just over twenty minutes to reach the transformation barracks, flipping a Gold Coin onto the passenger seat as he exited the vehicle and entered.

In those twenty-plus minutes, five modifications had already been completed, and fortunately, none of these modifications failed.

The thirty soldiers who failed were mainly due to the fact that the five Alchemists weren’t proficient enough, but with AI reminders, their mistakes became fewer and fewer.

Although it’s impossible never to fail, reducing the failure rate to below 1% was still achievable.

Place a thousand Exoskeleton Mechanical Devices in the open space outside the transformation room, ordering the L-type modified soldiers to guard them.

Baiyi walked into the transformation room, noticing that the number of Transformers had increased. However, the number of Transformers was less than he’d expected, with only one hundred Alchemical Transformation Masters among five hundred Alchemists.

It might have been a deliberate selection by the Military Equipment Bureau, as among the seventy-two people who came later, there were two Silver Refiners, with the rest being at least Bronze Middle Tier.

Baiyi looked at the two Silver Refiners and asked, ”Have you prepared the equipment for their bodies these past few days?”

The two nodded with reverent eyes, and not only them but the other newly arrived Transformers also pulled out scanners, phones, and advanced mechanical headsets from their pockets.

Baiyi glanced at them and instructed, ”Keep it on. An AI clone will soon inhabit your equipment, and from now on, as long as you are Silver Level, you can complete modifications independently.”

”Those below Silver Level, if their Level and Tier haven’t changed in six months, will be kicked out of the transformation team. Lade will execute this matter.”

”Yes, Lord City Lord.” Lade stood straight and responded respectfully.

Baiyi nodded and then looked at a Bronze Upper Tier Human, gesturing for him to come forward: ”You come first.”

The Human’s eyes filled with excitement, and he quickly jogged over, obediently lying on the test bench, an uncontainable smile on his lips.

”This time, I’ve only manufactured two thousand exoskeleton devices, so the transformation quota for the Mechanical Legion is provisionally set at two thousand people. The rest can wait or opt for Flesh Transformation if they can’t wait.” Baiyi addressed the Magat brothers who were helping here.

Then calmly said, ”The hard part about mechanical transformation is the exoskeleton, or directly mechanizing flesh. The ones I’ve chosen are all exoskeletons because their installation is relatively simple, without much technical content.”

Baiyi looked at the Human and gauged his Power.

Bang!

The excited expression on his face froze, and he instantly lost consciousness.

”This time, we only need to connect the exoskeleton device to his nervous system and skeleton, as the remaining modifications will be to add weapons to this mechanical apparatus.”

Baiyi picked up a black cube about thirty centimeters long, turned the unconscious Human over, and made an incision on his back with a scalpel, exposing the spine.

In an instant, blood gushed, and the scent of blood began to spread.

Baiyi and the surrounding Alchemists were unfazed, as no transformation could avoid being bloody.

He pressed the switch on the exoskeleton mechanical device, and suddenly a steel framework appeared, automatically starting to attach itself to this Human’s body.

Gradually, his body was enveloped, and from his feet to his head, it appeared encased in a cool set of armor-like steel structure.

Baiyi’s Spiritual Power surged out, connecting the extremely fine wires within the exoskeleton device to this person’s brain.

As the exoskeleton device automatically attached, it completely merged with the Human’s skeleton.

Baiyi sprinkled some Recovery Potion, causing the soldier’s flesh to heal quickly, tightly enclosing the parts connected to the skeleton and nerves.

The powerful healing Effect allowed the two to quickly reach a new fusion, such that the modified person, even when awake, would only feel weird rather than painful.

”The only thing to watch for in this modification is the connection of the nervous system, which requires precise control of Spiritual Power and Magic Power, though typically, a Silver Level Transformer can complete it.”

As Baiyi spoke, the Military Equipment Bureau had also sent over some equipment.

Baiyi used his Spiritual Power to awaken the Human.

In his blood-soaked and somewhat bewildered state, the arming process began.

First was the left-hand Gatling combination. Upon bringing the handheld Gatling close to his left hand and gripping the special handle, the exoskeleton automatically attached, transforming the Gatling into his left hand.

The long bullet chain was wound around his waist by the exoskeleton, allowing for a maximum carrying capacity of fifty thousand armor-piercing rounds.

These bullets were only enough for one soldier to fire for twenty minutes, after which they’d need to replenish ammunition.

Because Baiyi only slightly enhanced the firing speed, focusing more on Power, a single bullet could, without surprise, kill a Bronze Upper Tier presence, with multiple bullets capable of shredding a Silver Level Mage Shield instantly.

But this was already the limit of the Gatling, at forty-one bullets per second, it was incredibly fast, much faster than typical bullet-type firearms.

Baiyi installed a newly developed sniper on the right hand. Although this sniper didn’t have the power of a Barrett, it was still a Silver Level product, posing some threat to Gold Level.

But the quantity was already enough.

Then there were the back-mounted mini missile launcher, shoulder-mounted grenade launcher, back thrusters, and laser weapons atop the head in combat readiness.

With this setup, each soldier would become a mini artillery platform.

”This is the standard configuration for a soldier; any questions?” Baiyi asked, simultaneously ordering in his mind: [Synchronize the earlier transformation process to all AI clones.]

Zero: [All connected, synchronization in progress.]

”None, it’s a very clear modification.” Lade immediately replied, finding it much simpler than Flesh Transformation. If not for being unable to manufacture the exoskeleton devices, he’d easily complete such transformations.

”That’s good. Your AI is synchronized, so you can handle the remaining transformations yourself. Prioritize mechanical transformations, with Flesh Transformations favoring Power-type races.”

As he spoke, Baiyi turned and walked out.

Mechanical transformations and Flesh Transformations aren’t mutually compatible, or rather, it’s not entirely impossible. Compatible transformations are somewhat challenging, requiring mechanical integration within flesh, with a high risk of rejection reactions.

Because the core of mechanical modification is machinery, these transformation devices fixate Power and Speed, exceeding which can lead to mechanical damage, causing exoskeleton paralysis.

So, it’s most cost-effective for the weakest batch of soldiers to undergo mechanical transformations.

Initially, due to racial differences, Beastmen and Dwarves inherently had superior physical combat ability compared to Humans of the same Level.

Meanwhile, Mages formed the Mage Corps in other legions, Divine Mages were rare in Dawn, Alchemists were in the logistics of the Legion, and there was the Military Equipment Bureau.

As a result, sixty percent of the Modified Legion consisted of Warriors, and forty percent were Assassins, with no Magic System professions present.

The rain in the sky gradually intensified, and Baiyi noticed the dimming sky, ignoring some players, he boarded the legion’s own vehicle and returned to the Potion Shop.

Baiyi entered the laboratory to make final preparations for traveling to South Spirit City.

When he emerged again, it was already nine in the evening, and the store was empty, having reached closing time.

After all, the main purpose of Aileen and Luoning opening the store was training, not actual business. Both needed guidance from their respective masters in the mornings and evenings.

”Boss...” Luoning hesitated, calling out.

Aileen, on the other hand, was already exhausted, her hands pillow for her listless head, staring at Baiyi with fatigue on her beautiful face, even her pointed ears drooping somewhat.

Baiyi ignored Aileen’s gaze and asked gently, ”What is it?”

”Boss, are you going on a long trip?” Luoning hesitated further, unable to fully discern Baiyi’s Destiny now, but this journey seemed unlikely to be smooth, and she was reluctant for him to go.

”Yes, any problems?” Baiyi asked, a bit puzzled.

”It’s just...”

Buzz~

A powerful aura suddenly surged into the sky, enveloping the entire Dongwu City.

Luoning’s eyes widened, ”Boss, someone wants to cause you trouble.”
