Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 1523: Chapter 1523: Trying to Make Mu Hanyan Suffer (Anniversary Bonus Chapter)

Before long, everyone arrived at the Sacred Pill Peak, and the ancient halls were tranquil.

Wasn’t today the day for the Holy Court to distribute elixirs? Why is it so quiet? Even if the elders from various peaks and valleys don’t come personally, the disciples should be here, yet there’s not a single person in sight. Could the timing be wrong? Han Yan and the others were somewhat perplexed.

However, having come this far, they couldn’t just turn back like that. After all, they needed to get to the bottom of this, so they still entered the hall.

”You’re here. The elixirs are on the table. Ten pieces per person, help yourselves.” A middle-aged man glanced at Han Yan and the rest, speaking lazily.

It seems the timing wasn’t wrong, it indeed was today. Seeing the jade bottles laid out in a row on a long wooden table, Han Yan and the others didn’t want to think too much and went straight over.

Each bottle of elixirs had a label in front, indicating the name, category, suitable cultivation level, and technique, so choosing wasn’t hard. Han Yan and others quickly selected the elixirs most suitable for themselves.

However, once they opened the lids, their expressions changed completely, all excitement and expectations vanished.

The names and uses of the elixirs in the jade bottles were indeed correct, but their quality was sadly lacking. They couldn’t even compare with the elixirs they got from Han Yutang and others last time, let alone those refined by the great alchemists of various countries. By the standards of the Holy Court, these elixirs might barely be better than waste pills.

”What is this about?” Long Ya held the elixirs, his face dark as he questioned the middle-aged man.

He’s not the patient type. When he clashed with Han Yan in Fang Village, it was because of a disagreement that turned into violence. Now, he’s only reined in his temper due to Lu Nianxin’s command to protect Han Yan, but when the situation demanded it, he didn’t hesitate to speak up.

”What are you talking about?” The middle-aged man glanced at him disdainfully.

”Is this the quality of the Holy Court’s elixirs? Don’t think you can fool us with these broken elixirs just because we haven’t seen the Holy Court’s elixirs. We’re not that easy to bully. Today, if you don’t give us an explanation, we won’t let this go even if we have to take it to the Holy Master.” Long Ya said with a cold sneer.

Han Yan then realized that Long Ya wasn’t just a brawny without a brain. His skill in exaggeration was also well-practiced.

When he mentioned the Holy Master, the middle-aged man’s gaze slightly shifted, putting away his prior indifference.

”The Holy Court’s elixirs certainly wouldn’t be of this quality, and how could I defy the Holy Master’s orders? However, you arrived a bit late. The good elixirs were already picked, leaving only these. There’s nothing I can do.” The middle-aged man shrugged.

”Late?” Han Yan and the others frowned. They entered the hall just as it was getting light, how could they be late?

”The monthly elixir distribution is extremely important to the Holy Court disciples. Others arrived in the middle of the night, but you waited until it was light to come. They say the early bird gets the worm. You came late out of laziness, who can you blame? You can’t expect everyone to wait until you arrive before selecting.” At that moment, Han Yutang’s voice rang out.

”So it was your trickery.” Long Ya and the others glared at Han Yutang.

In the Holy Court with the Nine Peaks, Seven Gorges, Twelve Valleys, Eighteen Cave Heavens, and Thirty-Six Blessed Lands, the number of elders, stewards, and disciples is vast. If everyone scrambled to the Sacred Pill Peak in the dead of night as Han Yutang suggested, the Holy Court would descend into chaos.

Evidently, Han Yutang had secretly manipulated the situation.

”Elixirs may be taken lightly, but words must be careful. If you tarnish my reputation, you better be careful when I retaliate.” Han Yutang’s face darkened as he spoke.

Long Ya and the others surmised correctly. Each time the Sacred Pill Peak distributed elixirs, they would prepare them in advance for each peak and valley, with varying qualities. The elders didn’t need to come in person, just send a disciple to collect the elixirs for later distribution.

Certainly, coming early might net some small advantages, exchanging a low-grade elixir for mid or top-grade. But, it usually wasn’t excessive, the disciple assigned to collect the elixirs might only gain some small benefit themselves.

This time, since the Holy Master allowed it, descendants of the Guardian of the Gods from various countries were also permitted to enjoy the cultivation resources of the Holy Court, so preparations were made for them as well, with different qualities of spirit pills. However, Han Yutang convinced Jin Qisheng to let their Divine Elder Peak distribute the elixirs. They replaced the Holy Sword Peak’s elixirs with low-grade ones in advance and informed each peak and valley to collect them early, even going as far as delivering them personally.

It was just a few elixirs, and he wasn’t afraid the Holy Master would hassle him over this trivial affair. He merely wished to see Han Yan and the others get humiliated.

”Hum, I’d like to see what this impoliteness of yours entails.” Long Ya gripped his sword hilt.

Zhuang Ping’an and the others also bore angry expressions, hands on their sword hilts, being elites from wealthy families or even royalty, they were not easy to bully.

”What, do you really dare to make a move at Sacred Pill Peak?” Han Yutang waved his hand, and several Holy Court Sword Masters revealed themselves.

The Sacred Pill Peak is responsible for refining and distributing the Holy Court’s elixirs, a crucial place with natural strict guard. This time, to prevent Han Yan and the others from making a move, Han Yutang brought quite a few masters from the Divine Elder Peak, including several experts at the Sword Saint Realm level.

With a hint of the opposing side’s strength, Long Ya and the others dared not act rashly and instinctively looked towards Han Yan.

”By the way, weren’t you complaining about the elixirs’ quality? If you’re dissatisfied, why not refine them yourselves? According to Holy Court rules, if dissatisfied with the elixirs on distribution day, you are allowed to refine them yourselves; the ingredients and pill furnace are all prepared for you, it’s just a matter of whether you have the capability.” Seeing Long Ya and the others hesitant to act, Han Yutang grew even more smug and taunted them.

Han Yan and the others then noticed that the labels on the long table not only stated each elixir’s name and use but also included the elixir recipe and refining method. An ancient-styled pill furnace stood in one corner of the hall. A little further off, on a stone rack, were lines of small square boxes made of Meteorite Gold Stone, roughly numbered in thousands, each labeled with all kinds of strange flowers and herbs.

Evidently, those small boxes were storage magical artifacts; despite their small size, they held a lot of ingredients inside.

It seemed Han Yutang wasn’t lying; the Holy Court did indeed have such regulations, otherwise, given his abilities, he couldn’t have prepared so thoroughly.

However...

Han Yan slightly furrowed his brows. This Han Yutang seemed to have more plans than just secret manipulations a moment ago, there should be more tricks up his sleeve.
