Ms. Diviner: The Prodigal Daughter's Return

Chapter 988: 988 Fails to Act Cool and Immediately Runs Away

In front of other Third Stage Sword Masters, he, a Fourth Rank Sword Master, still had the right to be arrogant. Unfortunately, in front of Mu Hanyan, he didn’t even have a chance to catch his breath. Even Nian An Yao, the Sixth-level Sword Master with the assistance of a Sword Pet, and even using his exclusive Ultimate Skill, Beastly Heart, could only pick up his teeth in front of Mu Hanyan. How could a mere Fourth Rank Sword Master compare?

”I am a Fourth Rank Sword Master... Master... Master... Ah...” The middle-aged man’s wild laughter still echoed in the air, followed by a miserable scream, as he flew out like a kite with a broken string.

Mu Hanyan’s sword stroke was simple and unadorned, but the power contained within was like a stormy wave, something that a Third Stage Sword Master like him could not contend with.

This outcome did not surprise Huayue and Family Head Fang and others. However, Mu Hanyan herself showed a trace of surprise in her eyes.

”Hmm, why has the force increased?” Mu Hanyan felt strange.

Seeing Mu Nan’s body covered in scars, Mu Hanyan was as angry as Zirong, so this sword was purely to vent her inner anger, without much sword technique to speak of, simply overpowering combat strength.

But Mu Hanyan also knew that the gap between Third Stage and Fourth Rank Sword Masters was always there. Even if her combat power exceeded the opponent’s, wanting to completely suppress or kill the opponent with just one sword was impossible.

Family Head Fang and others blindly revered her, but she herself would not be blindly confident. She only managed to defeat Nian An Yao last time thanks to Little Auspicious Beast’s Sleep Barrier. In terms of sheer combat power, she couldn’t gain any real advantage.

Therefore, before she slashed out with this sword, Mu Hanyan was already prepared. As long as this sword caught the opponent off guard, she would immediately use Shadow Shifting to deliver a fatal blow.

Unexpectedly, before she could use Shadow Shifting, she had already knocked the opponent away with one sword stroke.

Power! Absolute power, Mu Hanyan could feel the power in this sword stroke, different from Qi, was the purest form of power. Like Mo Yanlin’s Innate Divine Strength, which despite lacking Qi, possessed immense might. Of course, her suddenly increased power couldn’t compare to Mo Yanlin’s innate strength, but combined with her Third Stage Sword Master prowess, and her already beyond Third Stage combat strength, it was not to be underestimated.

In battle between masters, life and death are a fine line. The stronger one is, the more this holds true. Even a slight increase or change in strength could change life and death at critical moments, so this inexplicably increased mighty force might become another life-saving artifact for Mu Hanyan.

”How could this be, just visiting the Ancient Relics and seeing a prehistoric Divine Beast without even legendary stories, and my strength increased?” Mu Hanyan didn’t believe herself to be like the Qilin’er of the Mo Family with Innate Divine Strength, the only thing she could think of was the Aolai Divine Beast from before.

But upon careful thought, besides those Divine Beast Memories, she hadn’t experienced any other encounters. How could she suddenly have such power? Even if it were just memories, they wouldn’t improve strength.

Could it be the Innate Divine Skill of the Divine Beast! Mu Hanyan had an inspiration. But she quickly dismissed this conjecture.

Though there have been legends of Beast Tamers using Sword Pets to perform Exotic Beasts’ Innate Divine Skills, it relies on Divine Beasts just like Nian An Yao’s Beastly Heart. Relying solely on oneself, no one could perform the Innate Divine Skills of even Exotic Beasts or Divine Beasts, after all, bloodline and constitution are completely different, as well as absorption and refinement of Heaven and Earth Power.

Thinking over and over, Mu Hanyan couldn’t come up with an answer; her gaze fell inadvertently on the pitch-black bracelet on her wrist.

”Is it that?” Mu Hanyan focused her senses and found no changes in the bracelet. Its interior still seemed to lack something.

But strangely, the bracelet now gave her a mystical sense of connection, as if linked by blood.

Though she didn’t know what secrets the bracelet might harbor, nor understood the situation entirely, Mu Hanyan was certain that this sudden burst of power was definitely related to the bracelet.

”Impossible, impossible, you are clearly a Third Stage Sword Master, how can you possess such strong combat strength, who are you?” The middle-aged man stood shakily, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, and stared at Mu Hanyan in shock.

Huayue and others looked at him with a gaze full of pity, thinking that he only now thought to ask Mu Hanyan’s identity, isn’t it a bit too late?

”Mu Hanyan.” Mu Hanyan said calmly.

”Mu Hanyan of the Mu Family in the capital!” The middle-aged man evidently had heard of Mu Hanyan’s name before, and was greatly shocked. Then, he did something that took everyone by surprise: he turned and ran!

Impossible, someone who was so arrogant just moments ago, threatening to leave no one standing, suddenly tucked tail and ran when hearing Mu Hanyan’s name... When had the young master’s reputation become so illustrious? Huayue and others were extremely surprised.

Indeed, even for a Fourth Rank Sword Master, his speed was astonishing despite his injuries. In the blink of an eye, he was already thirty feet away.

However, Mu Hanyan had just found a lead; how could she possibly let him have a chance to escape?

Though pondering over it in her mind, Mu Hanyan hadn’t relaxed her vigilance for a moment, her mental state continuously locked onto the opponent.

Almost at the same time the middle-aged man moved, Mu Hanyan moved as well, even more prepared than the opponent.

Her figure flashed, and Mu Hanyan was already blocking the man’s path.

”Who are you? And, where are Uncle Yun and Mu Sha?” Mu Hanyan stood a yard away from the middle-aged man, her longsword pointed coldly at his heart meridian, asking coldly.

”I don’t know what you’re talking about?” The middle-aged man, his escape route blocked, calmed down instead and feigned ignorance.

”I’ll ask one more time, where are Uncle Yun and Mu Sha?” Mu Hanyan stepped closer and asked.

”I advise you to let me go, otherwise, you might not even have the chance to regret it.” The middle-aged man said.

Mu Hanyan shook her head, puzzled that this person was so stubbornly defiant, even at this point still daring to speak arrogantly, not knowing what he relied on.

It seemed letting him suffer a bit more was necessary to make him yield. Mu Hanyan was too lazy to waste words with him, stabbing directly with her sword, though not aiming for his vital points but for his thigh instead, as she hadn’t gotten the answer she wanted yet.

”Pff!” The cold longsword pierced through his thigh, and blood spurted out.

”Can you speak now?” The strong scent of blood rushed forth, and Mu Hanyan remained unmoved, her lips seemingly curling in a merciless cold smile.

”Mu Hanyan, even if you kill me, don’t think I’ll speak.” The middle-aged man’s face twitched violently, enduring the intense pain, and shouted angrily.
