Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 537: Chapter 537: Foolish Husband 30

Those who came to watch the commotion congratulated Yuan Chun a few times before leaving.

Mrs. Chen took the note signed by the chef and led Yuan Chun to the personnel department to complete the onboarding procedures.

Since she was unprepared and Mrs. Chen put in a good word for her, the personnel department gave her a two-day holiday and asked her to start work two days later.

When the personnel department asked her to go to logistics to be assigned a dorm, Yuan Chun refused.

Yuan Chun didn’t want to stay at her brother and sister-in-law’s place or a shared dorm. After leaving the personnel department, she asked Mrs. Chen, ”I want to rent a small room nearby. Can Aunt Chen help me find out if anyone has a vacant room to rent?”

Mrs. Chen smiled and said, ”Asking me is asking the right person; my second son’s single dorm room has just been allocated but is still empty. They originally wanted to buy some furniture, do a simple renovation, and then move in. However, my daughter-in-law happens to be pregnant, and I worried my second son, being young, wouldn’t know how to take care of her, so I didn’t let them move out. That dorm has been sitting empty, and people have started gossiping. If no one moves in, it might be reassigned. Now that you can temporary stay, it can stop the gossiping.”

Yuan Chun recalled that Chen the Second seemed to have a single room dorm that remained empty, which later received complaints and was taken back, affecting Vice Factory Director Chen’s image among workers. People gossiped behind his back, accusing him of practicing favoritism by allocating the single dorm to his son and leaving it unused, wasting factory housing resources.

Yuan Chun smiled and said, ”That’s great, thank you, Aunt Chen. However, I can’t stay there for free. I’ll rent it, paying two yuan per month.”

”You child, talking about renting or not renting. If you didn’t stay, my youngest couldn’t even keep that dorm. I should be thanking you.”

Mrs. Chen went home to get the key, then took Yuan Chun to the dorm.

This building was full of single dorms mostly occupied by newly married young couples and a few by senior-level single factory workers.

Someone like Wei Yuanchun, a temp worker, moving in was unique for this building.

The dorm was empty, with nothing inside.

Mrs. Chen awkwardly smiled, ”I have an old single bed at home, a small wardrobe, and an old desk... If you’re not picky, I’ll have someone bring them over this afternoon.”

These were used by Chen the Second before getting married and hadn’t been thrown out yet, piled in the storeroom. Perfect for Yuan Chun to use now.

But actually, Yuan Chun didn’t want them.

She had a lot of beautiful solid wood furniture in her space that fit the era’s use; she didn’t want to use someone else’s, especially a big man’s used items.

However, she couldn’t refuse.

Refusing would obviously show disdain to Mrs. Chen’s offerings.

In this era, not to mention old furniture, even an old stool was considered valuable, so she dared not show any dislike.

Yuan Chun nodded.

At noon, Mrs. Chen invited Yuan Chun to the Chen Family for lunch, but Yuan Chun declined.

After Mrs. Chen and the reluctant simple-minded person left, Yuan Chun put down her small bundle, turned the lock on the door, and then took out a lazy sofa from her space. Sitting on the sofa, she pulled out a box of fast food, indulging happily.

Of course, she didn’t forget to use spiritual power to contain the meat aroma of the fast food within the room, preventing it from spreading.
