Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 501: Chapter 501: Malicious Mother-in-law 47

”Take it, the new year is coming, go to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy something you like.” Yuan Chun put the remaining thick stack of money into his own pocket.

Actually, it was put into the Jade Gourd Space.

”Dear, I’ll take care of this money for you.” Wang Cui reached out and snatched the ten yuan from Ma Laoer’s hand, then put it in her pocket with a grin, ”Sister-in-law, like Mother said, the new year’s coming, we also have things we need to buy. We can’t always ask Mother for money when we need to buy something.”

Qian Hongmei then accepted the money.

Han Conghui made three hundred yuan from this deal.

Accompanying him were two friends he met from the black market. He often resells some defective items from the supply and marketing cooperative to black market bosses, making a profit from the difference.

At the supply and marketing cooperative, he’s not the only one doing this. Everyone does it, and when defective items come, they’re divided among everyone. However much you get is however much you sell.

He certainly can’t use all those goods himself. After the items are divided up, everyone turns around and sells them to others.

Han Conghui used to be a director, now he’s the president, so he gets a lot more defective items than Wang Yingying, an ordinary employee.

Han Conghui is not stupid; he doesn’t always bring home the defective items for his family to use. Most of them are sold to the black market boss.

The black market boss is his classmate; they have known each other for a long time and trust each other completely.

At the end of the year, Han Conghui secretly saved four or five hundred yuan in the bank, and he also secretly kept the deposit book.

Ma Xiangling doesn’t know about this money at all.

The Ma family wouldn’t bring up Han Conghui’s dealings with large wild boars in front of Ma Xiangling.

A few months later, Ma Xiangling gave birth to a big, chubby boy.

Mrs. Han was very happy and even took a month’s leave to take care of her daughter-in-law during her confinement.

After Ma Xiangling’s three-month confinement, just after the Dragon Boat Festival, Mr. and Mrs. Han suddenly suggested dividing the household.

The three sons and three daughters-in-law of the Han Family all didn’t want to divide the household.

If the household wasn’t divided, they didn’t need to spend their own money on food and drink. With their parents’ salaries supporting the family, they could save their own wages.

But once the household is divided, they would have to be responsible for supporting their family. With many children in school, they certainly wouldn’t be able to save much money.

”Let’s divide it.” Mr. Han said seriously, ”For all these years, it’s been us two old bones supporting all of you, a dozen people. But with our meager salaries, we haven’t been able to save anything. We two are getting old, and you must allow us to save some retirement money. You can’t just suck us dry until there’s nothing left.”

Mrs. Han wiped her tears, crying, ”Don’t you think about it, a whole family of a dozen, spending money on food, drink, and everything else. We have been scrimping and saving to support you. Look at us, how many years it has been since we had new clothes? Please feel sorry for us and let us live an easy life for a few years, a happy retirement.”

”We’ve raised our sons, but we can’t be responsible for raising our grandchildren as well. Over the years since you’ve been on your own, we haven’t asked you to contribute a cent of your salaries. We felt sorry for you having a hard time supporting your families, so please feel sorry for us old folks too. Our bit of salary really can’t support you all anymore.”

The grandchildren have been in school for the past few years, needing food and drink, which costs a lot of money. In recent years, the burden on the two elders has grown increasingly heavy.
