The Yellow-Haired Villain in Soaring Phoenix's Novels Also Desires Happiness

“The one who finally became the Saintess... turned out to be you.”

The Saintess murmured softly. Her tone carried a trace of sentiment, but Lin could feel it—

From that moment on, Her Highness the Saintess seemed lighter somehow, as if the burden upon her shoulders had finally found a worthy successor to bear it.

That successor surprised her a little, yet she seemed deeply satisfied.

It must have been a pleasant thing.

“But for now, Your Holiness, you are still the Saintess.”

Lin drew a slow breath and said, “I still need to ensure your safety.”

“All right, all right, Lin. I don’t want to repeat myself a third time.”

The Saintess looked up. Not far away, that pink bear was still being chased in utter chaos by countless monsters.

Perhaps his over-the-top antics had triggered a chain reaction at last.

High above the firmament, the dreadful Evil God locked in battle with the endless Holy Light and the gates of the Sacred Domain suddenly cast down a cold glance.

In an instant, the monsters went even more insane—but this time, instead of chasing the Pink Bear, they abruptly turned on one another, launching into mutual slaughter.

The bloody scene looked like a reflection of hell itself.

Countless monsters devoured one another; twisted flesh swelled rapidly, and within ◆ Nоvеlіgһt ◆ (Only on Nоvеlіgһt) those grotesque bulks something terrifying was forming, an embryo hatching at unnatural speed.

“Holy crap...”

The Pink Bear’s face turned pale beneath the costume. Forget fleeing—he grabbed his spiked club and started smashing the enormous embryo with everything he had.

But the vast embryo was like indestructible rubber. Even blows strong enough to shatter steel barely left a dent.

The Evil God’s blessing had given the embryo unparalleled vitality.

Soon, bloody tentacles—like magnified intestines of some grotesque beast—burst through the shell. From the fissures, an unspeakable creature peered out, its dark gaze hideous and vile.

“Sigh... still as useless as ever, old man.”

The Saintess let out a soft sigh and said to Lin beside her,

“Hand me that thing.”

“That thing?”

Lin, still nervously tracking the monsters’ movements, froze. “Which one?”

“Already forgotten?”

The Saintess shook her head helplessly. “What I entrusted to you when I first became the Saintess.”

“You mean...”

A memory from over twenty years ago—long buried—resurfaced in Lin’s mind.

At the thought of that object, even the always-calm High Sister’s expression faltered.

“No. Absolutely not! Your Holiness, you promised me—you would never use that thing again!”

“The one who made that promise was the current Saintess. But I’m about to step down, so the promise no longer applies.”

“But you are still the Saintess! You can’t do this!”

Lin tried desperately to dissuade her from such an unthinkable act, but—

“Lin.” ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

The Saintess gazed tenderly at the woman who had served her for nearly twenty years, the High Sister she regarded as an older sister. For the first time, her flawless, holy face carried a pleading expression.

“This will be the last time.”

“......”

Lin’s face went rigid. She gave a bitter smile.

“You know the consequences of doing this, don’t you?”

“Mm. That’s why I sent everyone else away.”

The Saintess looked into the distance and spoke wistfully.

“For me, this isn’t a bad way to end things.”

“......”

A sharp pain twisted Lin’s heart.

She knew this mustn’t happen. She knew the price would be unbearable.

Yet faced with those gentle eyes, she couldn’t help but soften.

Yes... after all, this would be the last time.

“Sigh.”

Lin closed her eyes, sighed helplessly, then took out an exquisite little box.

Complex seals and sigils covered its surface; Lin’s care was evident. Even so, a baleful aura leaked from within.

Under the Saintess’s gaze, after three rounds of verification and unlocking, the box finally opened.

When the long-sealed contents once again met the light of day, a chill wind swept across the battlefield that already resembled hell.

The Pink Bear turned, sensing something.

When he saw what the Saintess had taken into her hands, his expression twisted with terror greater even than when the Evil God’s gaze had fallen upon him.

“Wait—Latina, what are you trying to do...”

He blurted out the name that hadn’t been spoken in years.

But the Saintess ignored his shout. She simply felt the cold weight in her palm and gazed at that black, lifeless thing with a quiet sigh.

“It’s been a long time. Seems the stench of blood on you has faded quite a bit.”

“But next, I’m sure you’ll be very satisfied.”

“Because this will be my first—and also my last—time... doing this as the Saintess.”

With that, she slipped the pair of jagged knuckle-dusters onto her fingers.

The monsters’ screeches halted at once. Countless writhing tentacles stopped chasing the Pink Bear. The eyes within the darkness turned sharply, fixing on the Saintess—the one they had moments ago hated so much they wanted to devour.

What was happening?

The dull-minded monsters could not understand why, all of a sudden, this Saintess... seemed like a completely different person.

“Hmm. Looks like after twenty years, I still haven’t gained any weight.”

The Saintess clenched her ten fingers tight, feeling how perfectly the weapon fit her hands, and nodded in satisfaction.

Good—it still worked. Bare-handed fighting would’ve been so... inelegant.

“Well then, shall we begin?”

She rolled her shoulders and took a single step forward.

Her aura changed in an instant.

That gentle, holy, and elegant presence of a Saintess vanished completely amid the sweeping wind and the fluttering of her long hair.

Her eyes shone bright. She tore off the hem of her cumbersome gown, revealing smooth white legs; her upturned lips curved into something wild and formidable.

“Come!”

The soft, kindly voice once offered to everyone now sounded only like an illusion from another life.

The Saintess radiated sharp intensity. The knuckle-dusters in her hands were clearly deadly weapons, still stained with dark, dried blood that had never washed away.

“Twenty years bottled up—finally, I can enjoy myself... Come on, monster! Let this old lady have some fun!”

In a dead-silent world, the Saintess leapt headlong at the monstrous abomination. Her soaring figure exuded a fierce, breathtaking beauty.

Yet this sight—if seen by any believer who revered her—would surely give them instant heart failure and make them doubt the very fabric of reality.

Not far away, the Pink Bear had already turned tail and was sprinting for his life. He knew that woman’s true nature all too well—twenty years ago, she was the type to punch mountains apart whenever she got irritated.

And now she’d been holding it in for two whole decades.

Who knew—after smashing the monster to her satisfaction, she might grab some poor bystander and punch them for fun.

Meanwhile, High Sister Lin pressed a hand to her chest and closed her eyes without expression.

Even though everyone else had been sent away—no believers would see this world-shattering spectacle—it was still an unforgivable dereliction of duty for a High Sister serving the Saintess.

She could already foresee her future self being nagged to death by those stiff-necked old elders for allowing this to happen.

And the report she would have to write, the clean-up she wouldn’t even know how to start...

At the thought of it, her heart twisted in even sharper pain.
