The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth

The key to isolating the Traits of Gundas’ Dog was to dissect its very essence.

This would require starting with Extraordinary Dissection experiments and the extraction of its Extraordinary Properties.

Wang Ya wasn’t sure if there was an Extraordinary Bloodline factor, like in other Extraordinary Creatures. After all, this was something related to an Evil God, making it extremely rare and seldom studied by Wizards.

It would take multiple experiments to find out.

The two analysis targets for the Eye of Truth would take at least twenty more days to complete, and this was factored into Wang Ya’s plans.

He observed the State of the Gundas’ Dog in the cultivation tank. After absorbing the nutrient solution, some of its flesh’s vitality had been restored. The fleshy tendrils on its forehead wriggled, seeming to sense Wang Ya’s presence, swaying to follow his movements.

This one was more active, even propelling its dog-like body to drift through the nutrient solution. It pressed against the glass wall of the tank, its eyes—formed from fleshy buds—staring at Wang Ya with primal greed and hunger.

The corner of his mouth lifted into a smile, revealing neat, white teeth. Wang Ya gazed gently at the Gundas’ Dog. ”Such a vibrant little darling. Your recovery State is the best of the lot.”

It seemed the differences in their former hosts led to subtle variations among the Gundas’ Dogs.

For instance, the Gundas’ Dog before him had a relatively slender build and a long neck. Besides forming eyes, the fleshy buds also outlined the bizarre features of a female human face.

Wang Ya recognized it as the face of the ordinary girl from the caravan, Ras.

’I see. A unique emotional will results in a different kind of Gundas’ Dog. This is the correspondence between Spirit and body, the unreal and the real. No wonder it can convert between the two.’

Wang Ya felt he had grasped something profound. He had a vague inkling that this realization was crucial, that it could provide decisive help on his Wizard Path.

For now, he couldn’t determine if the different Gundas’ Dogs all possessed the same Special Abilities, or if some might have unique ones.

He pulled a small notebook from the pocket of his Wizard Robe, and a feather pen slid out from his sleeve. He began writing on the spot.

His gaze would occasionally drift gently toward the Gundas’ Dog before him.

Compared to the ordinary, fragile girl, this special creature possessed an alternative kind of beauty—a form of relative biological perfection.

It was something that could not be matched by the meaningless aesthetics of humanity.

The most essential kind of beauty.

[Research Plan for the Extraordinary Essence of ’Gundas’ Dog’]

[Plan 1: Conduct Extraordinary Dissection experiments to explore the internal structure of Gundas’ Dog. Analyze the specific source of its super Recovery Ability and its unrestricted consumption and proliferation.]

[Tentative Plan 2: Based on the premise of Plan 1, prepare for new experimental test variables. Number of expendable test subjects: ’5’!]

[Tentative Plan 3: .....]

Wang Ya’s limit was five Gundas’ Dogs. The experimental materials were simply too rare; they could even support a long-term research project.

If he had only one specimen, he would have been far more cautious... He would have waited until he had completely mastered more Advanced Extraordinary Dissection and Biological Cultivation knowledge before performing any related experiments.

The feather pen continued to write below, setting the experiment’s timeline.

[Extraordinary Dissection Experiment on ’Gundas’ Dog’]

[Execution Time: Five months from now]

[Target: Gundas’ Dog]

[Objective: To verify Advanced Extraordinary Dissection knowledge, hone and familiarize complex surgical methods, and lay the core foundation for Wizard Experiments. Attempt to uncover the Extraordinary Essence of Gundas’ Dog and extract the complete Extraordinary Material, tentatively named the ’Core of Life’.]

Wang Ya’s plan for the next five months was to complete the remaining Basic Extraordinary Discipline courses, as well as the Advanced ones.

Wang Ya had already more or less mastered the four Basic Extraordinary Disciplines. At most, it would take him another month to achieve complete mastery.

As for the Advanced Extraordinary Disciplines, he had enough Magic Stones left to purchase them. At the same time, he could also buy the Advanced Chapter of the Vast Sea Meditation Method from Gusai Wizard.

The free slot for the Eye of Truth could then be used on the Gundas’ Dog.

His plan to generate income hadn’t been completed, but there were two Wizard’s Rings on the Maya King’s fleshy arm.

He couldn’t be sure who they belonged to. Wang Ya had done a preliminary scan with his Spiritual Power and found quite a few items. The one emitting the strongest Extraordinary Fluctuations was a special black spear.

The rest were things like an Extraordinary Witch Book, Witchcraft Scrolls, Wizard Potions, and a small amount of Extraordinary Materials... For a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice, their value was quite decent. Selling them would net him a good number of Magic Stones, enough to solve his pressing financial needs.

Of course, he couldn’t expect to get the astronomical price he got for the Aquis Secret Record. With the black spear—which was likely a Middle-tier Witchcraft Artifact—he might get a third or a quarter of that amount.

For the foreseeable future, Wang Ya would likely be cultivating diligently in the Dark Land, improving his Power to prepare for the Secret Realm competition in two years and three months.

He would keep a single portion of Wizard Potion and a few Witchcraft Scrolls for the quarterly quota mission. The rest could be sold, including the spear.

The rules of the Secret Realm competition seemed to forbid the use of external items. Wizards had to rely on their own Power and use Witchcraft to compete.

’Cultivation Witchcraft should count as a type of Witchcraft, right?’

Wang Ya glanced at Harak on his shoulder, the curve of his lips deepening. He didn’t know how much improvement was possible in just over two years.

But if Harak could integrate the Traits of Gundas’ Dog, he was confident it would be a nasty surprise for his powerful opponents.

Coupled with mastering the powerful Witchcraft from the Inheritance Witch Book, a spot in the top three was not entirely out of reach.

He could even use the Eye of Truth to modify the Witchcraft, making it better suited for himself.

Wang Ya’s eyes gleamed with a blue light, like crackling lightning. His expression was resolute. He was determined to secure a spot in the Dark Cultivation Plan.

You had to fight for what you wanted; fighting for nothing got you nothing. This was the reality of the Wizard World.

Besides, the Dark Cultivation Plan could have far-reaching implications.

He would go all out in the Secret Realm competition and show everything he had.

There was no such thing as a predetermined outcome... So what if they were from the Direct Lineage of a Wizard Clan, trained since childhood? Power was the only thing that truly decided everything, the only thing that gave one a voice.
