Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 50: Chapter 50: Ways to Make Money

Standing in the spacious dock, Chen Ming turned his head to look at the Iron Ore No. behind him.

It was completely different from the ragged state it was in when he first took control of it.

Now the Iron Ore No. appeared as if newly manufactured, gleaming white all over, with wide and thick ship armor, looking extremely solid.

Each side was equipped with a heavily modified machine gun, showcasing the owner’s meticulous care for the ship.

This was what Chen Ming did before entering the port, switching the ship’s weapons from the Electromagnetic Spear back to the original machine guns.

After all, the Mechanical Race is quite common in the Edge Star Realm, and someone might recognize the ship’s mechanical weapons and think of the large amounts of White Cloud Steel associated with the Mechanical Race.

Wealth should not be flaunted, and Chen Ming didn’t want to cause trouble because of this.

He stood in place, admiring his achievements over the past six months.

A satisfied expression subconsciously appeared on Chen Ming’s face.

This ship is not just a reflection of his ability and technology.

It also accompanied him along with Xiaoshi across half a light-year of journey to the Pirate Space Station, achieving his goal.

From the moment he stepped off the ship, Chen Ming’s previous plan had already been accomplished.

From the dangerous abandoned Mining Space Station, he arrived at a Space Station belonging to the Human World.

Although this Space Station has some problems and isn’t on the official Human Empire’s list.

But at least there are people here, and that’s enough.

For Chen Ming now, it’s also time to consider his next step.

The Edge Star Realm where he is now is poorer than the Prosperous Star Realm inside the Human Empire. Poverty means fewer people and a lower level of development.

Although because of the Mechanical Race, Dusk, and the ruins of that already destroyed civilization, there are not actually fewer opportunities.

But these opportunities come with dangers.

Chen Ming is not a professional combatant; technology is his forte.

He wants to go to a more central location of the Human Empire, where it should be more suitable for him.

The technology Chen Ming masters, the talent and abilities he possesses can only be fully utilized in a place with people and advanced technology.

Perhaps then he can start a company with his own hands? Help people repair ships?

Chen Ming chuckled and shook his head slightly.

His abilities are definitely not limited to this.

However, Chen Ming doesn’t have a specific idea of what to do yet.

He’ll take one step at a time and find a way to reach the Prosperous Star Realm.

Once he witnesses what kind of existence the Prosperous Star Realm truly is, he will naturally understand what he needs to do.

To achieve this goal, Chen Ming still has a lot to do.

The most important thing, of course, is to get a legitimate identity.

But this definitely requires some special means, as well as money that everything needs.

Chen Ming just arrived here, doesn’t know anyone, has no connections, and isn’t sure if there’s any money left on his card, and even if there is, he can’t use it.

Basically, he’s penniless.

But money is needed in far more places than just here.

After that, Chen Ming also must install the Superspace Navigation System on the ship, which will definitely cost money.

The road cannot be flown back slowly; otherwise, he might not even have traveled through a few star systems until he dies of old age.

Even if these two are settled, buying supplies for the ship will also require money.

Everything requires money, so he can only think of ways to earn it.

Chen Ming didn’t consider himself a good person; he had no psychological burden from incidents like pirates causing trouble for him, and him in turn consuming their goods without relent.

But he couldn’t engage in active piracy.

Relying solely on legitimate money-making means, Chen Ming already has a few ideas.

Chen Ming stood on the horizontal elevator of the dock.

Watching the scene beside him speed by, he considered the feasibility of his ideas.

The most important of these ideas is naturally to find a way to sell the two types of advanced metals he got on Rimu Star, as well as that batch of tobacco and alcohol.

White Cloud Steel and Sky Steel would still be somewhat useful to keep in hand, but Chen Ming had no use for the tobacco and alcohol himself.

However, this idea is a one-time deal, only a way to earn quick money.

If selling items doesn’t make enough, Chen Ming will have to find another way to make money.

So, Chen Ming came up with a second idea.

Just at this moment, the elevator carried Chen Ming through the main door, leaving the dock.

He arrived at a repair factory located at the junction between the dock and the Space Station’s core area.

Chen Ming got off the elevator and saw a large amount of ship equipment placed around the repair factory.

Many people were choosing different ship components, preparing for what might be a journey or just plain robbery.

Chen Ming’s second idea is to find a way to become part of the Space Station’s repair factory.

Although the Pirate Space Station is nominally pirate-owned, behind it is definitely supported by some force.

A repair factory that can be set up next to the Space Station’s dock must be directly operated by the force funding the Space Station, and it would be more stable and secure than any other job in the Space Station.

Whether they are currently hiring, he isn’t sure.

Chen Ming looked around a few times and didn’t find any management personnel nearby, nor did he see many maintenance masters.

Who knows what the situation is.

However, it can be determined that there are always so many ships taking off and landing in the dock at all times.

There must be more than a few ships requiring restoration of the damaged armor and weapons at the Space Station, purchasing necessary supplies and ammunition.

Repair factories have no shortage of revenue.

And because of the nature of the Pirate Space Station, it’s impossible for good maintenance workers to be willing to come to such a desolate and dangerous place.

The overall skill level of technicians capable of working here is likely average at best.

With his capabilities, he can definitely earn something if he finds a way to get in.

Of course, that’s just Chen Ming’s guess. If the Pirate Space Station really has enough skilled maintenance masters and doesn’t need a newcomer to join.

Then Chen Ming will have to choose other methods.

His gaze fell on the gate leading from the repair factory to the core area of the Space Station.

The Pirate Space Station is more than just docks and repair factories.

He can totally try to find if there’s a place selling weapons in the Space Station.

Though the Space Station has its own repair factory blocking the front in terms of spaceship-related work, they can’t monopolize weapons too, right?

Find a weapon shop; with his skills in weapon modification, Chen Ming can still make a living.

Even if all else fails, Chen Ming has the last resort.

Running the Iron Ore No. to work as a miner.

But that’s an option of last resort, Chen Ming wouldn’t do this unless necessary.

Before running out of other opportunities, Chen Ming plans to pursue more favorable options.

In short, he still plans to proceed according to plan step by step.

Since he can’t even find repair factory personnel now, he might as well go out and explore the Space Station, converting the batch of resources he has into usable money.

Having money in hand gives confidence.
