Gravity Mage with Level-Up System

From MC’s Perspective

Thornside City, Thornflower Hotel

The next morning, I woke up early. After completing my morning routine, I sat down for practice. My stats had touched the limit.

But it was necessary to get a breakthrough in the Gravity Rule first.

Time went by.

I ended the practice a few hours later. Then, I opened my eyes and summoned the status panel. When I went through the status panel, I found no changes.

My accumulation was still not enough for the breakthrough. The Gravity Rule power remained the same. I didn’t get disappointed; I knew it needed continuous practice.

Swoosh!

The next second, I appeared outside. In the hotel room, everyone was awake. Patrick, Otto, and Hank were here. They were waiting for me.

“Master!”

Upon seeing me, they greeted me. I nodded to them before sitting on the sofa.

Otto said, “Master, I have collected some information about the city.”

“What is it?” I asked.

Otto’s expression turned solemn. Patrick and Hank’s expressions were grave as well. They had already heard it from Otto. This Thornside City was a weird city.

I noticed the expressions on the three of them. It didn’t look good.

“Master, this city is dangerous. The City Administration has tight control over the locals and visitors. Their whereabouts and activities are strictly monitored,” he said.

I raised my eyebrows. I didn’t find anything wrong. It was common across the cities; some cities do have tight security.

“The news of the destruction of Sand Fall City must have reached here,” I said to them.

“Master, there is one more piece of dreadful news. Every day, there is a report of missing people. To this day, no one has found the truth behind it.”

“The City Administration remained silent on this matter. For the sake of the public, they launched an investigation. But the case was closed without any findings,” he added in a solemn tone.

Hearing that, my eyes flickered. It didn’t seem to have anything to do with the Sand Fall City destruction. Then, I shook my head.

Each city was different. They had internal politics as well. Who knows? It could be the work of wizard families here. I didn’t have time to think about it.

I needed to find as much information as possible to find the exact location of the special land.

Then I turned towards them and said, “I think something is going on in the city. But every city has its own problems. There is no need to waste time.”

“We need to collect as many books as possible.” After adding that, I told them to look for the bookstores.

I needed books about the history, geography, and Wizard forces of our worldbfrom the old era to the current era.

Patrick, Hank, and Otto agreed to do that.

A few minutes later, the three of them left the hotel room. I turned towards the window. I stood up and walked up to it. I opened the glass door and started viewing the scene outside.

My gaze swept across the towering buildings and busy streets. Eventually, my gaze fell on the tall thorn trees.

A hint of strangeness flashed in my eyes. The magic thorn trees were not ordinary. I didn’t know why the City Administration allowed them to grow.

If they were ordinary trees, it wouldn’t be different. But the magic trees could cause problems. Yet, the City Administration didn’t do anything.

My curiosity had increased. But I had another important thing to do, so I decided not to think much about it.

…

City Lord’s Office

The City Lord of Thornside City was from a Wizard Family. His name was Johan, a Magic Lord. He was an old man who appeared to be in his sixties, but he was several hundred years old already.

The Magic Lord power gave him a lifespan of over a thousand years. There was also another reason for his power and extended lifespan, which had to do with his magic.

His awakened magic talent gave him the power to share the lifespan of a contracted monster.

The monster he had contracted was none other than the Weird Thorn Magic Trees found all over the city. During his prime days, he had contracted thorn-type tree monsters during each breakthrough of his magic level.

But this type of lifespan-sharing magic power had its own drawbacks. The drawback was the sacrifice. The Weird Thorn Trees demanded blood.

During his prime days, he had hunted and sacrificed monsters and other species. However, the blood of the monsters and other species wasn’t that efficient.

In the end, he started sacrificing the blood of the enemies he had killed along the way. After hundreds of years, he formed this city and created a permanent solution for the sacrifice.

After the city was formed, it was filled with a population. He invited many wizard families and businesses to live in the city.

With that, many wandering wizards started entering the city. He began targeting them specifically, taking action only after confirming that they didn’t have a background. Their deaths wouldn’t be investigated.

Each day, he sacrificed a few wandering wizards to the weird magic trees. After a couple of hundred years of practice, he had reached the rank of Magic Lord.

He still continues to practice to this day. Today was no different. His weird magic thorn trees would receive a sacrifice today.

He was seated behind the desk and was going through the reports. Among the visitors’ list, he found the names of many wandering wizards.

Among them, he spotted the names of Supreme Wizards as well. His eyes flickered. Supreme Wizards are not ordinary wizards; most of them have backgrounds.

He didn’t know whether the Supreme Wizards on today’s list had a background or not.

If he could sacrifice them, his strength would dramatically increase. He then sent a team to investigate the strength of the Supreme Wizards.

The city officials had the locations of these people. They immediately separated to get information about them.

Meanwhile,

Hank, Patrick, and Otto were collecting cheap copies of books from the bookstore. The copies were cheap; they could get 100 copies for a single mana stone.
