Urban All-Round Master

”Brother Lin has treated me like his own flesh and blood!” Hai Zhilan said without the slightest hesitation.

But when he said this, Lin Zifeng was laughing. A bitter laugh.

He reached out and lightly patted his shoulder, smiling as he said, ”I treat you like a brother, then how do you treat me?”

”Brother Lin! I don’t understand what you mean? I don’t know where I, Zhilan, have done wrong. Brother Lin, as long as you point it out, I, Zhilan, will definitely change!”

Right now, Hai Zhilan’s little heart was practically jumping out of his chest. Lin Zifeng’s overwhelming aura and those icy, cold eyes were enough to let him experience what...

”Hehehe... Hai Zhilan, oh Hai Zhilan, I haven’t treated you badly, you know that in your heart, so why did you just have to go against my South Heavenly Gate?”

Lin Zifeng gently set the teacup down, bitterly smiling again and again.

”No! Brother Lin! I didn’t! I didn’t go up against South Heavenly Gate in any way, Brother Lin, you must not believe rumors so easily!”

This time Hai Zhilan completely panicked. Since Lin Zifeng had already said this, even if he were an even bigger dumbass, he understood what Lin Zifeng meant between the lines.

”Smack!”

The teacup in Lin Zifeng’s hand was crushed to powder in an instant, and he swung his hand back and slapped Hai Zhilan viciously across the face.

”Thud!”

Hai Zhilan tumbled heavily off the chair and crashed onto the hard floor.

With a whoosh, Lin Zifeng stood up, and stomped down hard on his head.

”Hai Zhilan, oh Hai Zhilan, I’ve helped you so much. Not only did you not come back and thank me, fine, forget that. You even turned into a damn traitor. If our South Heavenly Gate hadn’t gotten lucky this time, would your dirty scheme have succeeded?” Lin Zifeng looked down from on high, his foot grinding viciously on Hai Zhilan’s head as he shouted coldly.

”No! Brother Lin, I really didn’t betray South Heavenly Gate. This has nothing to do with me, it’s the Shangguan Family, it’s the plot of the Shangguan Family’s Shangguan Chong, it was all his plot. Without him, your Heavenly Painting Halberd wouldn’t have been exposed to the world. Brother Lin, you have to believe me!”

”Oh? Really? Then was Shuobude grabbed and locked up by you?” Lin Zifeng narrowed his eyes, looking down at him.

At this point, Hai Zhilan’s fate was already sealed. Even if he talked till the heavens broke, he still couldn’t shake Lin Zifeng’s resolve to kill him.

”No! Big Brother Shuo isn’t in our Hai Family. Brother Lin, I really don’t know what you’re talking about, maybe this is all just a misunderstanding!”

Hai Zhilan was on the verge of tears.

”A misunderstanding? Fine, today I’ll help you sort out this so‑called misunderstanding nice and clearly.”

Lin Zifeng sneered, clapped his hands. Very soon, the sound of steady footsteps rang out beyond the secret room’s door.

Hai Zhilan’s heart rose to his throat. He had no idea what kind of situation he was in now. Shuobude was locked in the Hai Family’s underground secret chamber by him. Aside from a few limited people, no one could possibly find him.

But—if Lin Zifeng was dead set on searching the Hai Family for Shuobude, it wouldn’t be impossible either. So what Hai Zhilan was most worried about now was that Lin Zifeng would really find Shuobude in the Hai Family. When that happened, even if he grew a mouth on every inch of his skin, he still wouldn’t be able to explain it away.

Terror, unease, panic... all kinds of complicated emotions surged into his nerves and brain,

He saw Jia Zhenjing and the old man walk in, leading a fat man in a pitch‑black cloak.

Hiss~ Hai Zhilan sucked in a cold breath in fright. Just by the build alone, he could tell that the fat man in the black cloak had to be Shuobude!

”Hai Zhilan.”

The fat man under the black cloak spoke. He lowered his head, his head covered by the black hood. It was hard to make out his features.

But his build and his voice couldn’t be hidden. One listen and you knew who he was.

”Y‑you, how did you get out! There’s no way they could have found you!”

Now, even if Hai Zhilan had a thousand mouths, he couldn’t talk his way out.

Shuobude slowly pulled off the black hood, revealing that scar‑covered face.

These past days he’d been locked in the underground secret chamber by Hai Zhilan and had suffered every kind of humiliation. But luckily, he could still live to see Lin Zifeng, and that was his greatest piece of luck.

”Hai Zhilan, you never thought I’d still be alive, standing in front of you, did you?”

Shuobude smiled with narrowed eyes and took two steps forward. Lin Zifeng lifted his foot off, letting Hai Zhilan go, then walked over to Shuobude with a blank face, his eyes cold as he said, ”Monk, after the way he treated you, according to our South Heavenly Gate’s way of doing things, how do you think this debt should be repaid?”

”Heh heh, naturally it has to be more painful than killing him.”

Shuobude said with a grin, without the slightest hesitation.

”Good. These past days, pay back every bit of humiliation you suffered. That’s just the principal, not even counting the interest.” After speaking, Lin Zifeng didn’t look back. He led Jia Zhenjing and the others straight out of the secret room.

”No! No! Brother Lin! You can’t abandon me. Brother Lin, I was wrong. I was wrong, I was forced into it too!!!”

No matter how many nice things Hai Zhilan said inside the secret room, for what he’d done, he was destined to pay the price~

”Hai Zhilan, you never even dreamed I’d still walk out of there alive, still be able to stand in front of you, did you?”

Monk Shuobude’s face twisted into a ferocious grin. That look was seared deeply into Hai Zhilan’s mind. He scrambled up and backed away step by step, not daring to meet Shuobude’s eyes.

Because the moment he saw the other’s eyes, Hai Zhilan felt like something had latched onto him from head to toe.

That panic rising from the depths of his soul only grew stronger!

”Swoosh!”

Shuobude’s body moved, instantly turning into a cold, fierce gust of wind, pouncing straight at Hai Zhilan. Faced with Shuobude’s overpowering charge, Hai Zhilan had no way to counter at all, he could only retreat. But the secret room wasn’t that big; there was a wall right behind him. His back slammed hard into the wall. Shuobude thrust out two fingers and gouged hard, and in one move he dug out Hai Zhilan’s two bloody eyeballs!

”Aaah!!!”

A blood‑curdling scream tore out, Hai Zhilan clutching at his eyes, shrieking again and again inside the secret room, flailing around wildly.

However—how could Shuobude possibly let him off that easily?

”No no no! Big Brother Shuo, I, Zhilan, know I was wrong. I’m begging you, don’t kill me, don’t kill me! I know I was wrong.”

”You know you were wrong? Where the hell were you when you were doing it then?”

Shuobude snorted twice, stepped forward again, and swung his leg, ruthlessly kicking Hai Zhilan right in the jaw.

”Crack!”

Hai Zhilan’s body was like a kite with a snapped string, thrown up into the air, then crashing back down hard onto the floor. Blood sprayed over almost the entire secret room. Under that savage kick, and with Hai Zhilan being no match for Shuobude to begin with, he basically had no power to fight back!

He hit the hard ground like a Dead Dog and couldn’t even get up for half the day. That one kick from Shuobude was enough to shatter his jawbone completely!
