Urban All-Round Master

Chapter 1643: Chapter 1677: Seizing the Position of Family Head!

Early the next morning, Lin Zifeng drove the cheap QQ car to send the Old Buddha back to the company and then received a call from Hai Zhilan. So he headed to a café again...

At this moment, in the café, Hai Zhilan’s face was noticeably more tense than when he last saw Lin Zifeng.

Just then, Lin Zifeng slowly walked in from outside the café.

Seeing Hai Zhilan’s tense expression, looking somewhat unnatural, he plopped down in a chair and looked at Hai Zhilan.

”What’s wrong? So nervous, did something major happen?” Lin Zifeng asked him with amusement.

”Brother Lin, you’re finally here. If you hadn’t come, I would have lost half my life!”

Hai Zhilan was almost on the brink of tears.

”What happened? It’s only been a few days since we last met, and you’re already like this?” Lin Zifeng chuckled bitterly.

”Brother Lin, you’re making fun of me. I’m totally stressed out.”

Hai Zhilan grew more distressed as he spoke, looking dejected, grabbing a cup of coffee and gulping it down... This young master, not a drinker, came to this refined place to drink coffee instead.

”Tell me, what has got you so worried?” Lin Zifeng looked at him.

”Every three years, our Hai Family conducts an internal test, and almost all family members have to participate. It’s to further develop our auction and ensure the exchange of new and old blood. Basically, it’s a test of who has strong overall capabilities. That person gets to control the family’s auction.

Sigh~ Initially, I didn’t want to participate. Not participating is disgraceful. But now my darn brother Hai Wuyan insists that I participate! It’s clearly just to make me lose face!”

”Oh? A test every three years? Such a good opportunity to prove yourself, why don’t you want to participate?” Lin Zifeng leaned slightly back, relaxed against the sofa behind him, squinting at him.

Hai Zhilan lifted his head slightly, glancing at him with a mournful face, ”Brother Lin, can’t we not joke about this?”

”I’m not joking with you. Why wouldn’t you participate in such a good opportunity?” Lin Zifeng looked at him seriously.

Hai Zhilan’s facial muscles trembled slightly, seeming to understand something momentarily.

”Brother Lin, you mean??”

”Since your brother wants you to participate so much, why do you still refuse?” Lin Zifeng shook his head, taking a gentle sip of coffee. With those words, Hai Zhilan seemed to understand a lot, looking at him eagerly.

”If my guess is correct, although your status in the family isn’t high, or many people look down on you, your brother should still be wary of you. After all, you’re part of the family. Not to mention who the auction might end up with in the future, at least your father won’t abandon you. So the reason your brother wants you to participate this time.

It’s just to make you embarrass yourself in front of everyone in the family. As long as you embarrass yourself, your brother will naturally have the right to reject you. By then, with your embarrassment, I don’t think the Hai Family elders will be blind.

Think about it, didn’t you say your father wants to give up the Family Head position? By then, who would want the Family Head position to go to a family disgrace?”

”Then, what about my sister?”

”Hmph, your sister? Do you think your sister can inherit the Family Head position?” Lin Zifeng sneered, ”From what I know about Yanjing’s family inheritance, the Family Head position couldn’t possibly be inherited by a woman. Unless your sister is Beiming Yu!”

”Brother Lin, so you’re saying my brother Hai Wuyan insists on me participating just to disgrace me in front of the family, with the elders as witnesses, so the Family Head position will fall completely into his hands, with me, the family disgrace, getting no benefit at all? If that’s the case, what about my sister? If Hai Wuyan really inherits the Family Head position, will my sister also lose her status in the family?”

Lin Zifeng knew Hai Zhilan cared a lot about his sister since, in the entire family, besides his sister, no one paid attention to his life or death.

Therefore, no matter what, Hai Zhilan couldn’t let his sister suffer, even if it meant his own death or being driven out of the family.

”You could say that.” Lin Zifeng nodded.

Actually, he didn’t know if that was really the case, but right now, Lin Zifeng only had one thought in mind—to help Hai Zhilan rise to power and bring Hai Wuyan down. Then, not just the auction, but the entire Hai Family would be within his control~

Lin Zifeng knew that it was wrong to disrupt the brotherly relationship like this. However, Hai Zhilan really had no affection with his brother, Hai Wuyan, and they actively undermined each other.

”No! Hai Wuyan can target me, but my sister can’t be oppressed. I only have one sister. If even my sister is pushed out of the Hai Family, what will happen to her then?”

Thinking of this, Hai Zhilan felt like Lin Zifeng’s words pointed directly to his innermost fear.

His sister, Hai Lanxin, and Hai Wuyan were known as the two great talents of the Hai Family. In the future, there was bound to be significant confrontation. Moreover, Hai Wuyan was extremely ruthless, while his sister was a kind woman who wasn’t good with words—how could she possibly compete with Hai Wuyan?

Thinking of this, Hai Zhilan’s emotions grew more agitated. He hadn’t entirely believed Lin Zifeng before, but now, combined with his understanding of Hai Wuyan, he felt that this dire scenario could very likely happen...

”So what should I do now?”

”What to do? Well, what do you want to do?” Lin Zifeng asked him with a laugh.

”Kill Hai Wuyan? No way! He’s my brother, even if we’re half-brothers, fratricide is highly taboo! If word got out, wouldn’t our Hai Family become a joke? Also, I wouldn’t find peace in my heart.”

”Did I tell you to commit fratricide?” Lin Zifeng looked at him expressionlessly.

”Then, what should I do now? I can’t just sit back and watch my sister be pushed out of our home.”

Lin Zifeng shook his head helplessly, thinking to himself that Hai Zhilan was really too naive and impatient.

How could someone like this achieve anything significant?

”I have a plan. As long as you follow through with it, I can’t guarantee you’ll get the Family Head position, but at least it won’t lead to you and your sister being out on the streets.”

”The Family Head position! Brother Lin, I’ve never even thought about that!”

Upon hearing Lin Zifeng talk about the Family Head position, Hai Zhilan turned pale with fright. He knew very well what he was. After being a good-for-nothing for so many years, he knew full well what he was capable of.

Begging for so long, you forget how to stand up. Being a dog long enough, you forget you’re human!
