Urban All-Round Master

Capítulo 1356: Chapter 1390: You Look More Like a Pervert Than a Doctor

“Really, I originally thought that the so-called ‘Skin Touching Technique’ heir would show up, but it seems like just an empty shell.”

In the audience, a blonde, blue-eyed foreign woman mocked in awkward Chinese.

“Forget it, forget it, this so-called Medicine King competition is already unwatchable. Even the most anticipated figure is just an empty shell, making it unbearable to watch.”

Lin Zifeng’s absence caused a commotion among the audience in the stands.

Today’s crowd of Western medicine celebrities came for Wang Chongyang’s heir, full of curiosity, but now? It’s all nonsense.

Soon, the direct disciple of Holy Hand Huo Chunqiu and the two sons of Fractured Pulse King began an intense competition.

The first patient to appear was randomly selected from the audience.

“Hello.” Holy Hand’s direct disciple, Huo Luan, gave a slight smile to the elder patient, although it was just a smile, it brought warmth and made the elder feel comfortable.

“Hello.”

The elder first frowned twice, then quickly breathed a sigh of relief.

Wang Chongyang, Gu Tianjiao, Zhang Sanfeng, Huo Chunqiu all nodded with satisfaction.

Because a qualified doctor must first provide a warm, trusting smile to the patient, letting them feel the doctor’s care rather than seeing a solemn face, which instead creates psychological pressure on the patient.

“My name is Huo Luan, disciple of Holy Hand Huo Chunqiu. Can I treat you?”

Huo Luan introduced with a smile.

However, while the elder seemed relaxed at first, his muscles and bones stiffened the moment he heard the name.

Upon seeing this, Huo Chunqiu immediately tensed up. The key problem is that the surname Huo sounds too ominous, not very auspicious. People come for treatment, and you come with a name like Huo Luan. How can anyone accept it…

“I’m sorry, can I switch to another doctor?”

Sure enough, the elder wasn’t too confident in this Holy Hand’s treatment.

“What!”

Huo Luan’s pupils tightened, losing utterly in front of the first patient?

“You can!”

Medicine King Gu Tianjiao stood up with a smile.

“Why? I haven’t treated you yet; why switch?” Huo Zhi’s eyes were furious, staring at the elder.

“Young man, although your initial preparation is good, your name is really quite daunting. You must understand, not every patient can tolerate a doctor named ‘Chaos,’ no matter how high your medical skill is. Your name is too inauspicious; can you guarantee other patients won’t reject you because of your name?”

The elder spoke eloquently, as if a seasoned scholar discussing the psychological situation of patients.

“But a name doesn’t represent everything! Besides, isn’t judging by the name a bit too rash?”

“Yes, a name doesn’t represent everything, but the premise is, you’ve announced your name, which is so chaotic. Imagine when a patient nearing a terminal disease comes to you, and you suddenly tell him your name is ‘Chaos,’ even his last hope could be shattered because of your name. Haven’t you considered how much psychological capacity a dying patient really has? Perhaps he would think everything is already fated.”

“…”

Silence…

The entire audience was silent, and the man named Huo Luan was left red-faced, head down, unable to speak.

“As the best doctor, they’re not just here to display their medical skills but also to understand the patients’ psychological needs, empathize, and consider their psychological status. This is of utmost importance!”

The elder smiled slightly, glancing over the entire audience: “And just now, when you heard about the switch, your face showed evident emotional displeasure, indicating how much importance you place on this competition. A truly excellent doctor should not be defeated by any words, for your duty is to save lives, not to be lectured!”

After speaking, the elder smiled knowingly, stepped forward to pat Huo Luan’s shoulder, then gracefully turned and left, returning to his seat in the audience.

Lowering his head, Huo Luan recognized the truth in the elder’s words, feeling defeated at the start of the competition because of his name.

The medical profession itself is complex, with patients being varied and unpredictable; who can guarantee they won’t encounter such patients?

“Swoosh…”

The elder’s speech brought silence to the audience, followed by a wave of applause expressing respect for the elder.

Everyone knew that the elder was also an experienced Chinese medicine doctor, representing both patient and doctor.

“Come back,” Huo Chunqiu called out, learning something from the start of the competition.

“Yes.” Huo Luan nodded and left the stage…

“Alright, second up.”

In the first round, someone was defeated because of a name, and now it’s the son of Fractured Pulse King Zhang Sanfeng’s turn.

Before stepping onto the stage, he gulped, trying to breathe deeply to calm his emotions, knowing that winning the crown wasn’t simple, testing the minutiae.

“Hello. I am your doctor, Zhang Shuitian.”

“Hello.” This time, the patient was a pregnant woman.

“May I ask where you are uncomfortable?” Zhang Shuitian tried his best to control his emotions, capturing every detail.

“I just feel a bit dizzy and often vomit, especially at mealtime; I want to vomit when I smell the food, with no appetite at all, but I particularly like sour foods.”

The pregnant woman continued to describe her condition.

Zhang Shuitian took a deep breath, his gaze scanning the pregnant woman due to nervousness, softly smiling, “Please give me your hand; I’ll check your pulse.”

The pregnant woman first was cautious, then cooperatively extended her arm on the table awaiting Zhang Shuitian’s pulse-taking. As he prepared to check the pulse, everyone held their breath, expecting details like in the first match.

On stage, Fractured Pulse King Zhang Sanfeng watched tensely as his son prepared for pulse-taking, extremely nervous.

“I’m sorry, can I switch doctors?”

Indeed… an unexpected incident occurred.

“Did I do anything wrong?” Zhang Shuitian became frantic immediately, stammering.

“Plenty.”

The pregnant woman glanced at him calmly, “You’re clearly lacking confidence; you nervously peeked at me four or five times while checking my pulse, disregarding if I was nervous or would trust you, insisting on checking my pulse. Don’t you think it’s too abrupt? Also, continuously scanning me shows your lack of confidence; when an unconfident doctor treats a patient, do you think the patient will trust you?”

“Most importantly, when nervously sneaking glances, you were chaotic-eyed, and I am a woman. Regardless of my belief in you, insisting on pulse-checking, in the patient’s mind, aren’t you a wolf?”

The pregnant woman directly pointed out all of Zhang Shuitian’s flaws.

Before leaving, she added one last sentence, “Oh, forgot to tell you, you look more like a wolf than a doctor!”

“…”

Zhang Shuitian collapsed onto the chair as if relieved…
