Chapter 1352: Chapter 1386: Pulse-Severing King - Zhang Sanfeng

In the blink of an eye, two days have passed.

The promised Medicine King Hall contest, but in these two days, Lin Zifeng has yet to appear.

This left Wang Chongyang worried for two whole days.

However, there’s only an hour left until today’s Medicine King Hall competition, and Lin Zifeng still hasn’t made any contact, leaving Wang Chongyang anxious and repeatedly urging his daughter, Wang Xiaomin.

”Do you think Mr. Lin will still come?”

Wang Chongyang has paced back and forth in the room dozens of times, making countless calls to Lin Zifeng, but despite all the anticipation, there is still no sign of him.

”Since he promised to come, he will definitely come. We have to trust him!”

Wang Xiaomin was equally worried. They spoke on the phone two nights ago, and Lin Zifeng promised her and her father that he would come for the Medicine King Hall contest today. Yet over the past two days, Wang Xiaomin repeatedly urged him, only to find that his phone was always turned off, which naturally made Wang Chongyang start to worry.

He had boasted outside that Lin Zifeng was the heir of their Divine Needle Sect and was proficient in the ’Skin Touching Technique.’ As long as his hand touched a patient’s skin, he would immediately identify the illness and use his unique secret techniques to eliminate the ailment.

At the time, it earned him respect.

But now this reputation is established, he is most afraid that if Lin Zifeng doesn’t show up, this so-called reputation will turn into embarrassment, and many will laugh at them, potentially even losing the last shred of dignity the Divine Needle Sect has.

The world of traditional Chinese medicine isn’t large, but it’s not small either.

If the Divine Needle King ruins his own reputation, it would be akin to seeking death!

After all, acupuncture doesn’t have high trust in the domestic market; who would willingly let you poke them with needles for no good reason?

”But it’s been two days now, and in just an hour, the contest will start, and there’s still no news of him. You don’t think he’s going to give us some unexpected surprise, do you?”

Wang Chongyang’s old eyes were red, his anger mounting.

He wished he could find Lin Zifeng right now.

”Father, this can’t be rushed. Perhaps Mr. Lin is facing some unforeseen event right now?”

Though Wang Xiaomin said this, she was secretly sweating with anxiety over Lin Zifeng.

Who knows if Lin Zifeng will actually appear, and on top of that, his so-called ’Skin Touching Technique’ isn’t very popular in the Chinese medicine community, let alone being known outside it...

”But why isn’t Mr. Lin answering our calls? Even if he encountered an emergency, he should call us back to ease our minds.” Wang Chongyang was a man of urgency, and the more his daughter comforted him, the more worried he became.

”If Mr. Lin had an emergency, he should have informed us earlier, and I could have discussed with those old fellows to delay the Medicine King Hall competition a bit. But now it’s about to start, and he has yet to show up; isn’t that a bit excessive? A gentleman’s word is his bond. Fleeing at the last moment will make us a laughing stock.”

”Father, you’re overthinking it. I trust Mr. Lin isn’t that kind of person.” Wang Xiaomin resolved to place her last bit of trust in Lin Zifeng.

”Let’s wait a bit longer, maybe there will be a turn of events soon?”

”There’s less than fifty minutes left. If he doesn’t come, our Divine Needle King’s reputation will truly be ruined in Dragon City today. You know the Medicine King Hall competition isn’t just a contest among our four major Chinese Medicine families; it’s more about putting on a show for others. Many renowned Western doctors from abroad will likely gather to watch and laugh at Chinese medicine, and some provincial and city leaders will also attend this big showdown to determine who the real authority is. We can’t afford to lose!”

Wang Chongyang’s tone was heavy, and the pressure unbearable, more agonizing than death.

The Divine Needle King’s reputation had been passed down for a long time, and although the family lacked deep heritage, they were still a Chinese Medicine family.

”Father, stay calm; we should give Mr. Lin more trust.”

”At this point, what else can I do? I just hope that Mr. Lin, who is blessed, can arrive at the crucial moment to save me from this dire situation.”

Helpless, Wang Chongyang could only wait.

”Old Wang, we agreed to meet at the Medicine King Hall. Why are you still hiding in your room? Are you planning to withdraw from this year’s Medicine King Hall competition?”

Just then, a loud, aged voice suddenly penetrated from outside the room.

It instantly shattered the silence that filled the room.

”Father, it’s Zhang Sanfeng, the King of Broken Pulse!”

Wang Xiaomin recognized the voice instantly upon hearing it.

”That old fellow didn’t inform me before coming to Dragon City; it seems he intends to embarrass me.” Wang Chongyang tried to regain his composure and greeted him outside the room with Wang Xiaomin.

Opening the door, they saw the King of Broken Pulse, Zhang Sanfeng, standing on the doorstep with two spirited young men, grinning as the Wang duo opened the door for them.

”Zhang Sanfeng, what evil wind blew you to my place? You didn’t even give me a heads up before coming to Dragon City. This sudden departure style, why haven’t you changed it after all these years? A fly-by-night attitude is quite unreliable.”

Wang Chongyang directly mocked the other openly.

Unexpectedly, the King of Broken Pulse, instead of getting angry, patted his round belly and laughed loudly, ”Old Wang, it’s been many years; would you die if we don’t bring up the past? We’re all getting on in years. The future belongs to these young people. What use is it for us old folks to compete anymore? People often say there’s no first in literature and no second in martial arts. Naturally, there’s no first or second in our traditional Chinese medicine. Why fuss over it?”

”I say, Old Zhang, did you come here today just to tell me this?”

Wang Chongyang didn’t believe that the crafty old turtle Zhang Sanfeng in front of him would turn hostility into friendship. It’s well known that in Zhonghai, the two major Chinese Medicine families are the Divine Needle King and the King of Broken Pulse.

The Divine Needle King built his sect upon the Divine Needle.

The King of Broken Pulse treated patients by diagnosing through pulse reading and administering medicine.

With both major Chinese Medicine families present in Zhonghai, one can imagine the magnitude of conflicts between them. The old saying that two tigers can’t coexist on one mountain is not just nonsense.

Moreover, there were various overlapping interests between them before, leading to significant disharmony between the two families.

The King of Broken Pulse’s reputation was far more popular than that of the Divine Needle King. Just by checking the pulse, one could know the illness, naturally better than being poked all over like a porcupine.

Wang Chongyang had suffered losses at his hands over the years.

”Old Wang, judging by your demeanor, are you doubting me?”

Zhang Sanfeng, with a smiling face, pushed open the door, and entered without an invitation, leading the two spirited young men with him.
