Urban All-Round Master

Chapter 899: Chapter 921: The Stage Lights Were Extinguished

”Uh, I have something to do first, I’ll come over later.” Lin Zifeng deliberately put on a nonchalant facade to put Nangong Bing at ease.

”Where are you going?”

Nangong Bing frowned and asked.

”To the bathroom.”

No choice, Lin Zifeng had to lie again.

”I’m really just going to the bathroom.” Lin Zifeng looked helpless, and seeing the Empress Dowager’s skeptical expression, he suddenly realized that his lying skills had really improved.

”Then come back soon.”

The woman nodded and continued to sit with Huahua and the others among the crowd, waiting.

This talent show competition aimed for fairness, so the organizers chose an outdoor, open-air tent venue for the event.

They placed hundreds of chairs, hoping the public judges could unanimously choose the most beautiful campus belle among them to play the purest heroine in their movie.

Lin Zifeng slinked away dejectedly; he couldn’t leave yet couldn’t stay too long. He decided to actually head to the bathroom and casually smoke a couple of cigarettes.

”By the way, Brother Wenlong, are you sure the winner tonight won’t be Hua Buqi?”

Just as Lin Zifeng was enjoying a cigarette, a familiar voice sounded outside the stall.

”Do you think I’m lying?”

Another voice spoke, also sounding familiar to Lin Zifeng.

”No no no, Brother Wenlong, don’t get me wrong, it’s just that I’m worried the judges might choose Hua Buqi, so I’m a bit concerned. The most important part of this talent show is that they have so many public judges. I’m afraid they’ll all vote for her.”

Got it!

Lin Zifeng finally recognized the voice’s owner.

It turned out to be Deng Ziwen, who Lin Zifeng had beaten up at the Karate Dojo last time!

A young martial artist from Yunhai University, who sought cold revenge because Huahua was indifferent to him.

And the other was obviously Zhou Wenlong, the only son of Yunhai University’s president, who once pursued Mu Yang and was publicly humiliated by her.

Lin Zifeng had some clashes with Zhou Wenlong the first time he came to Yunhai University, and they seldom met since. But the grudge between Deng Ziwen and Huahua erupted all at once.

Ye Wudao of the Dragon Roar Society was defeated, leaving Zhou Wenlong without a backer, and now he cozied up to the son of Yunhai University’s president.

He clung to this support like it was no joke.

”Humph, all of Yunhai University belongs to my father. Whoever I want to win will win, and whoever I want to lose will surely lose. What’s the big deal with the judges? Just wait for the show. Once that Hua Buqi takes the stage, we’ll cut all the lights. I really want to see how she performs and how the audience judges her.”

Zhou Wenlong shook his head left and right, making a cracking sound.

After peeing, he couldn’t help but shudder.

Deng Ziwen quickly flattered him with a thumbs up, grinning wickedly, ”Brilliant! Truly brilliant!”

After Lin Zifeng finished his cigarette, these two had long since left. They had no clue another man was still squatting in the restroom.

Lin Zifeng slowly stepped out of the bathroom, smirking coldly as he watched their departing figures.

”Tangtang, I’m about to perform, where did that beast go?”

Seeing Lin Zifeng still hadn’t shown up, Huahua felt a bit unsafe. Before, when Lin Zifeng was around, even though she found him annoying, at least there was someone around who was breathing, which felt reassuring.

But now that Lin Zifeng wasn’t here, it left a strange feeling in her heart.

”The uncle said he went to the bathroom. He’ll be back in a bit.”

Liu Tangtang looked around but didn’t see Lin Zifeng returning.

Immediately, she felt a bit disappointed too.

”I’ll call him.”

Liu Tangtang took out her phone.

But just as she was about to dial, a large hand stopped her.

”Aren’t I back now? Why call?”

Lin Zifeng grinned as he looked at them.

”Uncle, why did you take so long? Hua Lord is about to start the competition.”

”Next contestant, Hua Buqi, please come on stage!”

On stage, a sweet-looking girl had just finished her performance. The host came up and shouted to the audience below.

”I’m on stage.”

Clearly, Huahua felt a bit nervous. She had seen big scenes, but this one was special, and it was impossible not to feel nervous.

”Go Hua Lord, go go go!!!”

Liu Tangtang clenched her fists, cheering her on.

”Huahua, winning or losing isn’t scary; the key is your mindset, just keep your heart steady,” Nangong Bing encouraged.

”Yes, Huahua, you’re the invincible young beauty, nothing to fear. You will definitely win!”

Encouraged by Nangong Bing and the others, this was Huahua’s second venture onto a bigger stage in her life. Everything felt surreal, even giving her a dreamlike sense.

”Yes! I’m a star! I’m a future star; I must make this stage shine brightly because of my presence. In the future, the entertainment world will see an unfading name, and that name will be ’Hua Buqi!’ Never abandon, never give up!”

Slowly, Huahua’s small fists tightened, as she stepped toward the dazzlingly bright stage.

Under countless lights, she appeared like a radiant and dazzling rose.

She shone brightly!

The little girl stepped onto the splendid stage, facing thousands of expectant gazes.

In this moment, she felt somewhat excited, even a little touched.

A stage-born charisma emanated from within her, conquering countless audience members below with just a single glance!

”Hello judges, hello students, my name is Hua Buqi, from the XX class of the performing arts department. I’m very grateful for everyone’s support and help for Huahua. Today, I’ll be performing the Swan Dance for you, and I hope you enjoy it.”

”Snap!”

Shhhh——

As soon as the words fell, the lights behind dimmed, all casting onto the stage, with everyone holding their breath in anticipation of her graceful dance.

But just then, all the newly lit stage lights suddenly went out!

In an instant, Huahua was swallowed by the endless darkness in front of everyone.

The scene instantly erupted into chaos.

”What’s going on? Why did the lights go out?”

”Yeah, why’d the lights go out at this moment? This is Huahua’s competition! She won’t be eliminated because of this, right?”

”Ah!! I was really looking forward to seeing Huahua. If she’s eliminated, what’s the point of watching?”

...

The audience was already in an uproar. At such a critical moment, the sudden blackout surely had a huge impact on Huahua, possibly even eliminating her, as the organizers may choose to skip her to cut costs.

And this made Huahua’s opponents feel overjoyed~~
