Chapter 695: Chapter 688: I am a Bodyguard

Chapter 688 My Cousin Was Ravaged by a Beast

”He, he is just the bodyguard I hired, a bodyguard and nothing more,” the woman stammered, her face flushing and her ears turning red.

A spring tide of blush slowly climbed her cheeks, and her gaze shifted evasively.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to go public with her current relationship with Lin Zifeng, but her current position greatly limited her. Many in the company were eyeing her position with covetous looks, and if her relationship with Lin Zifeng came out now,

it would surely stir up a huge commotion across Zhonghai. The public through various channels would magnify their relationship, and certain hostile newspapers, as well as business competitors, would definitely sensationalize these negative reports.

When that time came, internal and external troubles would befall her, not only shaking Nangong Bing’s current position but even causing some parasites within the company to fan the flames.

Tianyu was her father’s legacy, so she would absolutely not let it fall into the hands of others so easily.

”Bodyguard?” Zhao Xuemo felt a jolt in her heart, the absurd reason becoming more plausible as it passed through her complex business mind.

Indeed, from initially being dismissive to being a security guard and now the head of the HR department, his climb up the ranks had indeed been rapid, especially given Nangong Bing’s seemingly tireless attitude towards him just now. It made her think that maybe he really was just her bodyguard.

After all, for someone of Nangong Bing’s stature, it would be quite suspect if she didn’t have a bodyguard by her side.

”What’s wrong?”

Nangong Bing asked.

”Sorry, President, I just remembered some past events,” said Zhao Xuemo, suddenly snapping out of her reverie.

A sly gleam passed through her eyes, tinged with a hint of schadenfreude.

”How has the collaboration between the Public Relations and Commerce Departments been running lately? The Commerce Department’s performance has declined significantly last time, which you should be aware of.”

Within moments, the woman quickly regained the aura of a queen.

”The Public Relations department’s performance is still good, it’s just...”

”It’s rare to have this opportunity to come out together, so speak freely,” Nangong Bing said expressionlessly.

”President, I know that saying this in front of you may seem like I’m speaking ill of others behind their backs, but Tianyu’s current external performance is really not ideal. Especially the Commerce Department—we in Public Relations have already signed a large number of new client orders,

but the Commerce Department has been stalling on delivering the goods. Many clients have been eagerly awaiting the new brand machines developed by the company’s Research and Development Department recently, and they have been urging for the orders, but the Commerce Department keeps dragging its feet, causing many clients to refuse the orders now. I haven’t dared to bring this up to you yet.”

Speaking this, Zhao Xuemo couldn’t help but feel a little relieved inside, knowing full well the immense pressure of dealing with these sticky problems.

”I understand,” Nangong Bing nodded expressionlessly, though a peculiar light flickered through her cold eyes.

”President...” Zhao Xuemo hesitated, feeling that speaking about the Commerce Department in front of her seemed akin to slander.

Just as she was about to explain, the iPhone in the woman’s LV bag started vibrating.

”Excuse me, I need to take this call,” said Nangong Bing with a smile, though even in smiling, she still looked so cold.

”Cousin, where are you? Our school is on holiday today, can you send the beast to pick us up?”

The voice on the other end of the phone was clearly Huahua’s, and by the sound of it, she seemed to be in a very good mood today.

”He, he can’t make it now.”

Instantly, the woman’s face darkened.

After all this time, she still called him a ’beast’? Couldn’t she pick a different name?

”Ah!!! Cousin, what are you talking about? How come he can’t make it?”

At the gates of Yunhai University, where cars were coming and going, the entrance was crowded with the Youth Party. It was particularly difficult to catch a cab today, given the holiday.

Seeing those sweating as profusely as if they were drenched in lard, especially the good-looking guys and girls getting on the bus and getting squished until their faces deformed, the two girls widened their eyes and involuntarily shrank their necks.

”Huahua, we’re not going to squeeze onto a public bus with them, are we?”

Liu Tangtang shrank her neck, not because she looked down on taking the bus.

It was just that, since she had the means to enjoy something better, why insist on squeezing with others? It not only hurt herself but also made others suffer.

”Shh...I’m discussing with my cousin right now.”

”Oh oh, heehee, Queen Huahua, I really don’t want to stand outside in the sun. Please have Uncle come pick me up.”

Seeing Huahua make a shushing gesture, Liu Tangtang also became somewhat excited.

It had been many days since she had seen Uncle, and she was quite thrilled inside.

”He’s accompanying me shopping at the mall right now, so I’m afraid he can’t come,” Nangong Bing whispered, lowering her voice to the minimum for fear of being reprimanded in such a large shopping center.

”Ah!!! Is it just the two of you shopping?”

Huahua felt a little stifled on the spot, and her heart skipped a beat.

She secretly fretted: It’s over, all over! The beast really fell in love with my cousin, didn’t they develop a relationship? That night, the two of them were playing those embarrassing games at the stairwell; he must have used some trick to bewitch my cousin.

”No, there are other friends too.”

”Friends? What kind of friends? Boyfriends or girlfriends? No! Cousin, wait for me, I’m coming right away; don’t leave, by the way, which mall are you at?”

”Olaya.”

...

”Tangtang, would you be willing to help your Queen Huahua be a heroic woman just this once?” After hanging up the phone, Huahua, filled with indignant sorrow, said magnanimously.

Poor Liu Tangtang, still not clear about the situation, nodded, ”Wherever Huahua goes, I’ll follow.”

”Let’s go, to save my cousin!”

The young lady pulled the utterly baffled Tangtang straight onto the road.

Two campus belles dashing through the streets certainly attracted a lot of attention.

”Master, I can pay you, can you take me to Olaya Mall on X Street!”

Seeing the two running breathlessly, not just the young guy in the taxi was stupefied; even the middle-aged driver was dumbfounded.

”What, what’s going on here?”

The disoriented driver asked.

”My cousin is about to be spoiled by a beast, I have to save her!”

Huahua declared righteously, pulling along Liu Tangtang with the spirit of valiant self-sacrifice.

Especially Liu Tangtang, who wasn’t even clear about the situation; with her big watery eyes welling up, she aroused some pity in the driver.

”Get in the car!”

The driver didn’t hesitate, ready to play the hero this time.

”Uncle, but what about him?” Liu Tangtang pointed with her finger at the young boy sitting inside, lost in infatuation.

”No worries, today I’ve chartered the car. Wherever you want to go, we’ll go. I’ll take care of all the expenses.”

The young man wasn’t foolish; the chance to ride in a taxi with two beautiful girls was indeed a fortunate affair.
