Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

’Just like that, he’d thrown her to a strange man!’

Justin Shields said, ”Help me entertain Mr. Hawthorne. I’ll be back in a bit.”

”You brought me here today just to meet him?”

”He’s a good catch,” Justin Shields said. ”You can chat with him for a while!”

Apex Group was on par with the Linden Group.

Although the two companies had no real dealings with each other.

But...

Silas Hawthorne was no ordinary man.

His grandfather had been a soldier, and his father was also very powerful now...

’If I can get in with him, I’ll never have to fear Nathan Fawcett again.’

Holding his phone, Justin Shields thought of Nathan Fawcett and gave a cold laugh.

’One day, I’ll make that man pay!’

’I will return every bit of the humiliation he dealt me.’

Stella Shields sent Justin a speechless emoji. When he didn’t reply, she was so furious she could have died. She turned to Silas Hawthorne and said, ”I have something to do. I’m leaving.”

”Wait,” Silas Hawthorne called out to her.

Stella Shields sat back down and looked at Silas Hawthorne. ’He’s the boss of Apex Group, sure, but he’s so old!’

’My brother can’t seriously want me to get involved with this man, can he?’

Silas Hawthorne stared at Stella Shields, looking very interested in her. ”I hear you spent a long time by Anna Linden’s side before?”

At the mention of this, Stella Shields paused for a moment, then said, ”So what if I did?”

’But that was all in the past.’

’Anna Linden hasn’t spoken to me in ages!’

’She cut ties with me.’

Just thinking about it soured Stella Shields’s mood.

Silas Hawthorne looked at her and asked, ”How did Anna Linden treat you?”

Hearing this, Stella Shields nodded. ”She was very good to me. Why?”

Stella Shields looked at the man before her and asked in return, ”Have you ever been married?”

Silas Hawthorne said, ”No.”

Stella Shields said, ”You’re already so old, why aren’t you married? I don’t know what you said to my brother or what deal you two made, but I’m not going to be with someone like you.”

Silas Hawthorne: ”...”

He looked at Stella Shields, baffled.

Stella Shields stood up. ”And you don’t need to ask about me. I’m not interested in you.”

With that, she turned to leave without another word.

’To think that Justin Shields even told him about me going to the Linden Family. Is he really trying to sell me off?’

Leaving the golf course, Stella Shields didn’t go home. She stormed straight to Justin Shields’s office.

Justin Shields had only just arrived at the office himself when he saw Stella Shields charge in, fuming.

She slammed her bag right on his desk. ”Justin Shields, are you insane? You’re trying to sell your own sister for money, is that it?”

”Weren’t you with Mr. Hawthorne?”

”Why should I have to be with him?” Stella Shields said. ”Didn’t you see how old that man is? He’s in his forties, almost fifty, and you actually want to give me to a man like that? Are you sick in the head?”

The more she thought about it, the angrier Stella Shields became.

’Before, I could have married Nathan Fawcett...’

’Nathan Fawcett is young and handsome.’

’He was everything I ever fantasized about.’

’Even if he looks down on me now, it doesn’t mean I have to marry some old geezer who’s almost fifty!’

Justin Shields looked at Stella Shields and said, ”Why are you back? Where is he?”

”Him?” Stella Shields said. ”I told him straight up that I could never like an old geezer like him and that he should give up hope. Then I came back! You wish you could use me. Dream on.”

She had barely finished speaking when Justin Shields looked up at her coldly. ”What did you say?”

His voice was deep and low.

And his tone was freezing.

Stella Shields had never seen her brother like this and was taken aback.

A moment ago, she was full of righteous anger, but now her confidence wavered.

She looked at him and said, ”Brother.”

”Don’t call me brother,” Justin Shields said coldly. ”This family has nothing to do with you either. Since you don’t want to stay in this family, go back, pack your things, and get out of the Shields Family house.”

”On what grounds?” Stella Shields was stunned.

”On what grounds?” Justin Shields said. ”Since you don’t want to shoulder any responsibility for the family, then leave the Shields Family and do whatever you want! You can explain it to the film crew yourself! And you can pay your own contract termination fee. I’ve had enough of coddling you every single day! Did you really think I’m some kind of giant pushover, here to worship you like an ancestor? Stella Shields, if you really want to stay in the Shields Family, then be good and don’t piss me off.”

His words left Stella Shields too scared to make a sound.

She looked at this man, realizing that at some point, her brother seemed to have become a completely different person.

Justin Shields said, ”Get out. I don’t want to see you. I’ll call the staff at home to pack your things for you.”

”Brother,” Stella Shields, realizing he was truly angry, softened her tone. ”Don’t be mad. I was wrong! But... you knew I like Ethan Linden, yet you still took me to meet such an old man. I’m your sister!”

Seeing that she had toned it down considerably, Justin Shields said, ”It’s precisely because you’re my sister. You think Silas Hawthorne is old? If I told you who his father is, who his grandfather is, would you still think he’s old? You think he’s old, but he might not even give you the time of day. You can’t even handle a man that old, so what, you still want to marry Nathan Fawcett? Are you even worthy?”

Justin Shields’s words made Stella Shields’s tears fall instantly; he had torn her down until she felt completely worthless.

And yet...

’Thinking of how much Nathan Fawcett despised her, it seemed her brother wasn’t wrong.’

Justin Shields said, ”If you really want to stay in the Shields Family, go find Silas Hawthorne and apologize. Otherwise... don’t ever come home again!”

After speaking, Justin Shields said, ”You can go now.”

Seeing him like this, Stella Shields turned around.

Justin Shields said, ”Wait.”

She turned back. He reached out, grabbed the bag she had thrown on his desk, and tossed it at her. It hit her in the chest.

The bag had cost hundreds of thousands when he bought it for her.

Growing up, Stella Shields had never endured any hardship; she was like a princess.

The bag Justin Shields threw hit her, but she didn’t catch it, and it fell to the floor. She picked it up.

She could feel that Justin Shields was furious now.

She left the office with her bag in hand.

When Charles Prescott came over, he happened to see her coming out of the office.

She looked nothing like she had when she arrived, ready to blow up at Justin Shields.

Now, she was utterly deflated.

Her brother, who had always been so gentle with her, had suddenly lost his temper, and she didn’t know what to do.

...

As Silas Hawthorne was leaving the club, he happened to see Stella Shields.

Stella Shields walked up to him and said, ”Mr. Hawthorne.”

Silas Hawthorne looked at her. ”Didn’t you already leave?”

’To think... she came back.’

Stella Shields said, ”I was being immature earlier. I’m sorry.”

Thinking of Justin Shields’s fury, Stella Shields felt an inexplicable sense of guilt.

’Maybe I really was too willful,’ she thought.

’Silas Hawthorne must be a very important business partner for my brother.’

She remembered when her family was targeted by Nathan Fawcett and almost went bankrupt...
